Great instruction, great little simple fly. Definitely going to try a few of these.
    Thanks Phil.

I tie a somewhat similar bug that has been effective especially on bows but the 'hot' spot section looks fantastic. Thanks for the innovation and inspiration. I'm looking forward to tying some of these up.

Very similar to one of my go to’s, a turn of partridge hackle at the front makes it even more effective!

Touch of partridge or Brahma hen saddle would always help any pattern. Great suggestion.

Such a simple fly. I can only imagine how effective this fly will be on northern Montana stillwaters. Looking forward to tying up a few over the winter and using them during ice off!

A great looking pattern ! I will definitely tie a few to try. Don’t have the brill, but I think a good substitute would be the semperfli straggle string. Looks pretty close. Always look forward to your videos Phil ! Thanks again

Thanks. My friend Bob came up with a simple to tie winner. You could easily substitute Straggle String or Micro Polar Chenille.
      Cheers, Phil

I know scuds are in my lakes but I've never caught a trout with one. Even if they are not, I think they would be programmed to take it. I'll give it a try, again.

I have had good look using your micro leech in summer and ice fishing. Have you tried any with simi seal on the body, going to try tying with both thinking this should work for ice fishing too.

Hi Bob, I haven’t tried a Simi Seal body yet as the Brill is so easy to work with. Simi Seal is an excellent dubbing so there is no reason a dubbed body wouldn’t work.

Looks great Phil. I have been tying in balanced and small streamers with same orange brill but with micro strips mostly in black. Average tail off back then strip over top of thick brill and bit of "flap" of strip tied down at hook eye. Nailed countless rainbow and brooks trolling this or stripping in from shore. Beats everything else I used to use in these apps. All your vids are excellent!

Hi, thanks for your kind words regarding my videos. I am pleased to hear you find them helpful.
That pattern sounds like a winner. Perhaps I should feature it some day? If you are ok with that?

@@PhilRowleyFlyFishing Absolutely! Anything that helps catch fish is good! Send you pics of them if that is possible.. Some fishing holes are secretive but patterns should be for the community, when they work!
