    Just imagine a tarbosaurus chasing its prey into the marshes then all of a sudden Deinocheirus stands up right. Holds out its claws to the sides. Then attempts to drown the theropod like kangaroos do with dingos.

    We know this creature had feathers because of the presence of a pygostyle, a structure found in birds for supporting feathers, as well as the fact that other ornithomimosaurs were preserved with feathers. We also know that it was an omnivore because the tooth and jaw anatomy is pretty consistent with herbivore anatomy however we also found a fish in a fossilized stomach of the beast, showing that it ate both plants and animals.

    • @tylerlogan4747
      @tylerlogan4747 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I thought the fish thing was slightly more ambiguous then you're implying, it's been awhile since I read the paper related to that find but wasn't there little to no signs of damage consistent with stomach acid on the fish fossils, also considering likely lifestyle makes it not particularly unlikely to have fish fossils in or by the skeleton. Though I would not doubt them eating fish as there's very VERY few animals that are not going to eat outside their typical diet like cows, horses, deer and squirrels eating flesh and being well documented

    Fun fact: spinosaurus claws and forelimbs, although being smaller than deinoc's, have more strength than deinoc claws and forelimz. Due to being able to lift 1_2 tons of prey with those claws

    Deinocheirus is one of the 3 pinnacle of Dinosaurian Big Meaty Claws alongside Gigantoraptor and Therizinosaurus.
    Weirdly enough they all lived at the same and the same time (Gigantoraptor is from a different formation but still in Mongolia).

  • @Sharktoz
    @Sharktoz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What I find interesting is how many similarities it has with other spinos. I imagine there was a level of convergent evolution between the 2 families, despite them not being related. For now. As much as spinosaurus changes, who knows. Another excellent video as always pal.

    Man, when I was a kid I used to look at pictures of those disembodied arms in my dinosaur books. I was convinced it would turn out to be a gigantic Carnosaur of some type. Imagine how big a Tyrannosaur would be if his arms were in proportion to those of Deinocheirus!!

    5:43 I HATE using the elephant as an explanation for no feathers on the full body giraffes which are the tallest and live in the same habitat have hair all over there bodies

    • @TheOverseerDebates
      @TheOverseerDebates  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      While that's a valid point, I just used elephants as evidence to challenge complete feathering. There is no doubt that Deino would have had limb and tail feathers but complete feathering is more challenging to assume. Additionally, Deino was around 5-6 times heavier (possibly more) than a Giraffe. That would be a massive difference when it came to the need for feathers (as far as regulation is concerned)

    • @kade-qt1zu
      @kade-qt1zu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're completely ignoring the fact that elephants are much, MUCH, heavier then giraffes.

  • @jessejarmon2100

    Due to the habitat Deinocheirus lived in (seasonal wetlands) and their likely diet of fish & aquatic plants, I think that the sail on its back probably supported a fatty hump to store energy to help get through the annual dry season.

    I refuse to believe Deinocheirus excels at better defense than Therizinosaurus without a funded practical demonstration. Paleontologists rely too much on computer technology.
