Another thing I will always do I run around whatever island I'm on to map it out making sure to note where berry bushes are.
I'll set up shelters all over the map to recover the rested buff. So, whenever I find a run down building I'll set it up and mark it on the map.
I'm pretty sure that Haldor and Hiler are across from each other on different islands. East to West. Good luck, enjoying your adventure.
Thank you! That's interesting, I think I'm definitely landing on going southeast on my next expedition, so I hope you're right. The wiki says Haldor can spawn in 10 different locations of any map, so surely I find him soon... :)
