I must say I wasn’t happy with this upon first spray and it took me a couple weeks to understand it but now I’m obsessed. It’s more of an aura and a vibe than a huge, overpowering scent. It is very reminiscent of a church and has such a great incensey-quality to it. I truly crave this now
This one is a winner. It took a while for me to warm up to it, but I've grown to love it. I had the same response to the Tobacco Vanille. Love them both
I really don't get why they discontinued Sarah Noir, that fragrance was better than most higher end TF fragrances, hopefully one day they will bring it back.
The reason I really like this one (got my bottle today) is that it IS thin and lighter. The scent is as Sebastian described it scent wise and strength wise…but because these specific notes can come off very strong, I think the lighter quality of it makes it wearable. Some fragrances we enjoy because of how well powerful and potent they are. I have a vintage Tuscan Leather (2012) and it smells unbelievable, but it can absolutely overpower a room and turn people off. I disagree that the notes should dictate how “beastly” a fragrance is. I’m happy that notes like this are finally wearable as I don’t have to feel conscious about how strong the scent is coming off. I thoroughly enjoy the scent!

Thanks for the nice review Sebastian. My the greatest fondness was for TM's Oud Wood Intense. I've kept a small amount in one of their little glass vials that they would give them away in, at the Nordstrom's within the Washington Square Mall here in West Portland Oregon. Although this new Ebene Fume, does not have the intensity of the prior Oud Wood Intense I mentioned above, I hope they come out with a newer version of Ebene Fume, maybe an 'Intense' version... That would be my next guess for a TM new cologne release that people would really like.
You are so right about this fragrance my friend! I love the note of Palo Santo and I was so excited to try this fragrance at my local Neiman Marcus, but once on my skin it was so faint. Totally disappointed! Sebastian I recommend you try Santo Incienso by The Different Company if your looking for a fragrance with the note of Palo Santo. This is not a beast mode fragrance, but it does justice to the note of Palo Santo. Love your channel Sebastian and I look forward to your next video!
It reminded me of (The One Luminous Night-ليل ساطع) by Dolce and Gabbana, only that one is creamier, sweeter with the dates..definitely cheaper and much more special.. I still like this one and would buy it if it goes on sale.
I have a sample of this and love it. This is a good, more wearable incense compared to the Catholic Churchy incense TF has used in a few of his frags (names I can’t recall right now).
That is what I was actually pondering about. Discontinue Sahara Noir and release Ebene Fume, watered-down Sahara? Never tried EF. Just imagining that's what might happen.
Loved your honest thoughts on this one Sebastian, the notes are right up my street so long as the church incense is not too prominent,as an alter boy in my youth swinging that incense burner thing for a few years really turned me off the smell lol anyways great job 👍
Fermi estimation of your collection Sebastian. At about 20 fragrances per shelf, and ~9x4=36 shelves visible on the video, those alone are already about 700 bottles! Total collection likely 4x or 5x that, so ~3000-3500? :) PS. Visible shelves on the right are actually 8, not 9. But some shelves clearly have more than 20 though, maybe 20 per shelf is too conservative an average.
Agree, wonderful scent but sadly lasts less than 30 mins as a skin scent and is mostly gone. I got a decant to try it but could never pay that much for such a weak performing fragrance. Yes, the Bentley for Men Absolute is a cousin to Ebene Fume…..I actually prefer my BFMA to the Ebene Fume. Your mileage may vary.
@@thescentprofiler5539 I‘d rather have a unique and natural smell than beastmode. 6-8h are good enough for me. So if I spent $1000 on a parfume it suppose to last (perform) into all eternity?
I was contemplating but not sure. I loved Sahara Noir and still have a bottle that I treasure, knowing that Ebene is a ‘thinner’ version, makes me think is it really worth getting as a build buy. I adore Annick Goutal’s Ambre Fetiche (the original version) and Tom Fords Ambre Fetiche….so I am a bit undecided on Ebene Fume
Tom Ford had been slacking a lot in the last couple years but I know why because of his husband’s declining health as Richard just recently passed away. Several of his fragrances discontinued. My favorite was Shaghlani Lilly. I’ll be sharing your video to our frag talk on Facebook. Thanks for the review.
Celine has a palo santo fragrance that isn’t bad. I find that wood, sour, little smoky, and feels like it’s crumbling. As weird as that sounds. Will head to the store and try it.

I got the impression in this video that you're just not willing to commit to an opinion you're satisfied with sharing in public; your verdict seemed to hover in a state of flux, not yet stabilised and secure. I guess some things you can't rush. I'd loved to have heard you sharing more insightful confessions about why you seemed so unmoved by this one. For example, you're normally so self-assured and articulate in these matters; your videos mentioning Serge Lutens 'Fille en Aiguilles' were the ones that gave me that final push and made me committed to hunting down a store that actually has a tester bottle but for some reason London boutiques and department stores deliberately avoid having an open bottle for customers to test. Very bizarre and I'd say, bordering on insulting. Your description of the fragrance and the enthusiastic recommendation ultimately offered, almost make me confident in blind buying it. 🤑As for Ebene Fume here...I feel as unsure as you do. I've tried so many things that you've recommended and so far our tastes seem to overlap considerably, but this is not one I'll go out of my way to try. If I see it, I'll spray it as the notes seem up my street. But otherwise...😐. Thank you for this video, you've been on fire recently, just not suffering fools. And I'm here for it.😃
Great review Sebastian. Tested today at Tom Ford flagship store at Covent Garden In London. I like the scent a lot but the performance is disappointing. I'm curious why Tom Ford doesn't reveal the perfumer of many of his fragrances. Any idea?
I like the notes, perfect for autumn, but I need more out of it at the price point. Many of the perfumes for the TF Private line smells fine but their performance is on the low for me, sadly or they are just disappointing. Santal Blush is way better than this to be fair. I miss Sahara Noir.
My the greatest fondness was for TM's Oud Wood Intense. I've kept a small amount in one of their little glass vials that they would give them away in. Although this new Ebene Fume, does not have the intensity of the prior Oud Wood Intense I mentioned above, I hope they come out with a newer version of Ebene Fume, maybe an 'Intense' version.
Just buy vintage fragrances... i also prefer bottles that protect the juice like Antaeus or Van Cleef & Arpels pour homme where light cant seep through👍
Even though this is not priced in the “premium” bracket it’s still hugely expensive for the average person and I expect good performance if they expect me to part with my money, just my two cents.
I'm with you on this. The term 'skin scent' drives me wild with indignation and outrage. It's overused and getting out of hand. Some scents ARE designed to be like mists with no tenacity almost applied as a post-shower refresher; a ceremonial application to meditate on and stabilise one's frame of mind before they continue with their day or night. I get it: I go annually to Japan to buy fragrances so I understand that culturally there's a place for 'skin scents'. But I'm no fool. I rarely feel genuinely offended in life, but that term is, in my opinion, a dishonest rationalisation for poor construction or financial corner cutting more often than not-- and I DEEPLY resent it said to me with a straight face. It feels deceptive and insulting to have someone try and instil insecurity in me so I'll accept a product that did not reach its potential, pure and simple. And 'skin scent' is deployed so pompously, so patronisingly by niche fragrance snobs too, as if I were some gullible yokel they could create insecurity in and dominate into accepting a monstrously self-indulgent creative experiment that ultimately fails in practical application. So yeah, I'm with you. If someone wants 400 quid out of my bank account, some tenacity and sillage isn't too much to ask for.

Glorious Indigo Lalique someone said smell similar if not pretty close and less than half price from this new perfume from Tom Ford I think lots are way over priced
What are you even talking about? Incense and leather?! MAKE IT RAIN!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 i’ve been waiting for years for such a combination! Not sure if it has any bits of oud, saffron, vanilla and orange. But if it does.. oh my oh my!!
Evening talking about? I don't remember if I shot this in the evening! :(
@@ThePerfumeGuy edited thx. In any case, can’t wait to get my hands and nose on it. Thanks for the review, i’m even more convinced now.
PS: that wall behind you is to kill for!
And I'm here for it.😃
I do not expect the best anymore from tom ford i think he is the same
Great review Sebastian. Tested today at Tom Ford flagship store at Covent Garden In London. I like the scent a lot but the performance is disappointing. I'm curious why Tom Ford doesn't reveal the perfumer of many of his fragrances. Any idea?
How many sprays did you apply?
So ppl thinking is beast mode and they have disappointing 😁 I buy Promise 😁
Why so Serious my Aromatic Gummy Bear? 🐻 Thanks for the review.
How do you compare it to MFK Grand Soir? I know they are two different fragrances, but which one do you like better?
Really enjoying this one!
Same similar Rose Oud type except with Palo Santo instead of Oud.
The background !! 😭😍😍
Just buy vintage fragrances... i also prefer bottles that protect the juice like Antaeus or Van Cleef & Arpels pour homme where light cant seep through👍
SINCE ITS NOT IN BEASTLY MODE LIKE YOU SAID…I CHOOSE NOT TO HAVE IT!!!… THANKS FOR BEING SO HONEST WITH US.
Great video, just wish it didn’t take over 3 minutes to start the review
Wow! Look at that perfume cabinet!! How many do you have, Sebastian?
I bought this for my son because he loves tom ford tobacco oud. Is it similar or could u recommend something that is please
@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 you have my vote.
I was told it was at the highest price point at Neiman Marcus. I hope they were wrong.
Yes that's what I was told as well. But it became the less expensive Private Blend price point! They might have been testing things out. :)
