    Pro Tips: 1. Dont jack the truck up or remove the wheels as it takes the tension off the sway bar and makes realigning the holes a pain. Just turn the wheels all the way and you can easily reach in.
    2. Take a grinder and cut the rod in the middle and it falls apart with a couple of taps instead of wrenching around and using WD40.

    I just wanted to say that I love these how-to videos.
    They've personally saved me a lot of grief trying to figure things out on my own, as well as saving the cost of getting a shop to perform the repairs for me.
    Thanks again!

    Thank you for your videos they were very helpful! Please remember to quote torque settings ! On a sway bar link it is approximately 17-20 foot pounds! We replaced upper control arms, cv axles and sway bar links, next is the inner and outer tie rods! We referenced all of your videos in the process! Thanks again!

    also thanking 1A for all the vids but I have to quibble with the jack idea. Jacking up on that end is lifting / fighting the suspension on teh other end, setting yourself up for a painful accident, sticking your hand in agiant mousetrap. Better to just disconnect both ends at the same time and the sway bar can just pivot up and down freely and you attach both links before tightening either.

    Use locking vice grips on the upper nut instead of a adjustable wrench. Especially if you don't have access to a car lift. Otherwise your in a awkward position and trying to balance 2 wrenches.

    the correct wrench works better then the will fit always slip wrench , also a short socket with a 3 inch extension would be better then a deep socket slipping off like it did on your first attempt to loosen it . I most always have to cut the crusty things off with sawall

    @SouthernSvcs It's possible. Pretty much anything worn in the steering or suspension could cause that issue. I would check all of the steering components to anything is worn.

    my experience is that the links can be basically soldered on because of rust and road salt. i'd suggest spraying the penetrating oil days in advance.

    If it's a stabilizer link you should have it repaired as soon as possible. They help keep the vehicle stable in the corners. We sell new ones on our website. Here's a link to them 1aauto.com/1A/ChassisSuspension/GMC/Yukon/1ASSL00056/472613/1997?ATony

    On my 98 Silverado 1500, the bolt part of the link is on the top and the nut is on the bottom. So I cant pull the bolt out from the top because there is a control arm in the way. Have you ever run into this?

    Worn end links are hard to detect as far as vehicle sway. More often you notice the rattling. Broken endlinks can cause sway. Get under the vehicle grab on to the links pull push and shake. If you can move them then replace them. I'll do a video on the rears soon.

    I have a 2007 Suburban and it looks quite similar underneath. I bought the replacement parts but I would like to make sure I stack the bushings correctly. Any chance you have a closer picture of the finished product or could describe which side of the bushings go up? Thank you and the video was quite helpful.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You may want to check the bushings on the sway bar to see if they need to be replaced. The sway bar could be flexing possibly causing pre-mature wear. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

    @darinbarfield8738 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure what part of the country you are at?
    I assume up north, as that truck has a lot of rust underneath.
    This was in 2010, and it’s an 2002 truck - only 8 years old.
    I have a 2007 GMC 2500HD,
    Now 13+ years old, and
    Thank goodness it doesn’t have any rust.
    I guess that’s an advantage of an auto in the south.

    I have a 97' Yukon gt 4x4, my question is... I bottomed the passenger side front wheel out in a mud hole and bent the bar... Now it's wearing tired out and the geometry I the front wheels is incorrect... It seems to me that the bent bar is holding the front end from totally letting the front end ride at normal height and geometry... Can I remove this bar till I get a replacement and still drive the tuck without worry of catastrophic failure?

    I have been dealing with this crazy vibration in the front end so I replaced the driver side link thinking that was the problem because it was loose but I still hear and feel the vibration I put a used tire on the truck thinking maybe that was the problem and still the same thing I'm hoping its not the passenger hub because I changed the driver side hub when I heard the grinding, I checked the cv axles and I don't hear a clicking noise but my passenger cv axle seal is leaking. so do you think I should change the other stabilizer to get rid of vibration or check something else out?
