First went to Namibia in 1985, been back four times though not recently. It's a spectacularly beautiful place from a desert wilderness perspective, add in spectacular wildlife, flora & indigenous cultures & it's hard to beat.

Nice one Andrew! I lived the most outstanding moments of my life in Namibia between 1999 and 2008. Got there on a one way ticket from Cape Town riding my then recently rebuilt R80 BMW airhead twin special. Why drive a car when adventure calls? Long Story Short - I met the most amazing people in Namibia and had the tiime of my life. Vehicles then were my BMW R80 special (Desert Cruiser), Honda XR600R and a Landrover Defender 90 TDi 300. The Landy 300 tdi was rebuilt after a mishap late one night and dodging the then recently introduced WHK City Police squad. Namibia for me at the time I was there was the place with memories I treasure most.

As flight paramedic in Namibia for 3 years in the early 2000's, I've flown over Etosha in rainy and dry season. It's a privileged perspective that is awe inspiring.

    Thx Andrew a lovely episode.
My wife Suzie and I hired a vehicle and spent November 2023 wandering around Namibia. and repeatedly had some delightful animal encounters.
An interesting comment we recieved from a couple of operators was they don't get to see very many Australians visiting which was a surprise.

Yes absolutely the African continent and the countries and parks within are stunningly beautiful for sure with lots of wildlife , love the Rhinos , and all the exotic wildlife found there.
I can tell you that the Yukon Territory and NWT along the Dempster highway is equally beautiful as is Alaska ,northern BC (actually all of BC along the coastal mountains) , as are the interior mountains of BC , Alberta . The Boreal forest in northern Ontario and the thousands of tracks that branch off into the bush of northern Ontario , and the Trans Taiga of Northern Quebec , and all the two tracks branching off of that extremely long remote rough road. The trans Taiga is 760 or so kilometres long, it is an out and back so over 1500 kilometres or there about. They say if the space station flies overhead it is closer to you than you are to a town, when at the terminus of the Trans Taiga , it is in fact the farthest you can get from a town on a "road" if one wants to call that a road , in North America .
Of course all the wildlife from Grizzly , to black and brown bears , Polar Bears if you are lucky (James Bay-Hudson Bay shore) , Wolves , Coyotes , Lynx , Mountain lions , Woodland Caribou , Bison , Moose , Deer , mountain goats , and all the birds and northern squirrels , and chipmunks who will eat out of your hand .
Not to mention the best fresh water fishing in the world .
Cheers Wild Bill , JEEP , Overlanding the remotest regions of northern Canada... and Alaska , when the opportunity arrises .

What a special country and yes, photogenic indeed. Like the chicken & egg, which fast boiler came first - MSR Reactor or, Jetboil?

    Very nice country.
Spent some time there with UNTAG in the late eighties clearing minefields so not much time for site seeing.

I can do you one better! We spent the first night of our honeymoon in a tent at a Boy Scout reserve in Northern Ontario, surrounded by over 2,000 Scouts! Top that!

The only country in Europe that can compare on a landscape photography measure, that I have visited myself, is Norway.
