@@airforceups1 Easily, other than Myles Garret, TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, Max Crosby, and Micah Parsons I’d take him over anyone else. So he’s easily top 6-8 in the NFL, whom we traded Leonard Williams for, basically.
The beneficiary of Burns acquisition may be Kayvon Thibodeaux. Our defense should improve under Shane Bowen's tutelage being Wink's system was too aggressive for our personnel, especially in the secondary. Bowen, who appears to schematically deploy a more basic 3-4 alignment in the front seven, may be beneficial being the hybrid EDGE that Wink deployed may have been a misuse of talent. We may see Burns and Thibodeaux, and Azeez Ojulari for that matter, lineup, upright, as outside linebackers. The other upgrade without a personnel move will be Dexter Lawrence, whose ability at Nose Tackle in a conventional 3-4, will be a natural fit. Burns is a fine addition and watching him and Kayvon together on the field should be fun for Giant fans to watch this upcoming season. We hope!
Danielle is also 3 years old @ 29, will be turning 30 during next season. I'm not paying the kinda money we gave Burns to someone that's 29, not a pure edge rusher at least. One serious injury and it could be a career ender at that age. Look what happened to Buffalo with Von Miller. At least with Burns, that's much less of a risk. Burns is going to excel alongside Dexter Lawrence. I wouldn't have given him all that money if he was gonna be the lone talent on the defensive line, but with Dex and Thibodeaux on the come up, think it was a smart move and obviously they did it with the understanding that they're going to free up a lot of cap space once Daniel Jones comes off the books.
Carolina fan here. I’ll tell yall what yall are getting. A quick pass rusher that will beat tackles with his speed only. He’ll give you 8-10 sacks in a perfect season but should really have about 15 sacks. That’s bc he can’t ever finish the play. That’s all you’re getting for 30 mil a year. He’s a huge liability in the run game. Teams will run right at Burns all game long. Get ready. Y’all will start bitching about week 8 of the season. But since y’all are Yankees, yall will begin to bitch about week 3.
Sounds like someone is mad they lost out on first round picks for him lol, yall thought he was worth those picks then, now suddenly he's not once he's gone. Actually that's a lie because as soon as the move happened, social media was littered with Panthers fans screaming about how they didn't get a 1st round pick for him. So either he's good enough to be worth 1st round picks, or he's bad and he's not. Can't have it both ways. He's a premier edge rusher, he's 26 years old, finding good edge rushers and getting them on long term deals isn't easy, and it's something the Giants have been after for a long time, hence why they drafted guys like Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari. They're trying to go back to the identity they had during those super bowl wins. He's going to be on the same line as Dexter Lawrence, a top 2 rushing DT in football now that Aaron Donald has retired. Chris Jones is the only guy I'd put slightly ahead of him. Dex is also on a long-term deal, and they want those two together for a long time. A big reason why they gave him this money is that only about half of it is guaranteed I think, and that they did this fully expecting to move on from Daniel Jones after next year because they have an out then and that will free up a lot of cap space. The Giants aren't paying a ton of guys big money right now. After Daniel Jones goes, it's just Burns, Dexter and Andrew Thomas. Pretty much it...and all are on long-term, smartly constructed deals.
I would have preferred had the Giants gotten a dominant power edge rusher, because with Burns and Tibo they now have two undersized edge rushers who often take an inside rout to the QB leaving the outside unprotected. They also are not great against the run.
Dexter Lawrence will be a huge help as well, and they will also get an edge in the draft. Not all 3 of those players can be stopped, especially if Azeez Ojulari can finally stay healthy.
@@marcusromero8386 not even hating like I have very high hopes for KT and he for certain is getting better but it seems his ceiling is what burns is now, and burns isn’t an elite top tier player.
@@NewYorkGiantsBlood I mean smith isn’t an elite wr he’s above average but he has limitations. If he was chase they don’t need to make that move. But regardless the point still stands Kayvon hasn’t shown he’s an alpha pass rusher like Hutchinson so they made a move to get one. Maybe not the most elite one but a guy who can turn into that. Top 25? Please name 24 pass rushers better than him?
What a joke he's definitely top 10 and consistent

Thing Im not crazy about is hes not in the top 10 in qb pressures but hes getting paid like it for sure, hopefully this works out.
Burns brings speed and physicality. He was a Panther captain and two-time pro bowler. Solid player.
Should of got Hunter he's a better player and kept those Draft picks

brian burns rocks but fuck this seems like a bad move for us
I think the Giants could've gotten an excellent pass rusher at 39 on a rookie deal; but this is ok.
I still think we grab an edge rusher in this draft
game speed micah parsons te fastest no debate
Move to a 3-4 and put him and Thibs at OLB and run an old Belicheck scheme. I'd love it
