I worked on West Hoe Road, in the printers, used to go down the hardware shop for odds and ends in Union St and the Millbay Rd cafe for the breakfast sandwiches when I was an apprentice. Good old days.
well that brought back some fantastic memories , used to work hard all week and get some spending money for Union st ,had great times in the pubs clubs, especially the pussycat club very beautiful ,girls could normally guarantee taking a gorgeous women home for the night , great times wish I could do it all over again no regrets ✨🤣😍🌟🥰
This would turn out to be the peak, as almost all of it is gone now. Nightclubs are all second hand furniture shops, the Acadamy is falling down, the Phoenix is falling down. Jesters is the only thing remaining.
The girls were talking about £10 all inclusive...which they did at Millenium, so between '00 and '04, Not sure why but I get real pre-9/11 energy from some of the clips.
Can't be no later than 2006 because that's when The Union Pine Shop burned down....if the Plymouth Herald report i've just read and my maths are correct!
IN MY EARLY DAYS THE NINETY SIXTIES I USE TO POLICE UNION STREET, WITH OTHER OFFICERS ESPECIALLY NIGHT DUTY WE USE TO HAVE A LOT OF FUN AND ALSO FIGHTS WITH THE DRUNKS....IT WAS WELL POLICED.....WE KNEW THE CLUBS AND PUBS AND OBVIOUSLY WE LOOKED AFTER THE LICENSEES AND CLUB OWNERS GOOD OLD DAYS.....I INSTANTLY RECOGNISED KENNY TOWEL IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS FILM......KNEW HIM FROM THE AGE OF FIVE......A GOOD AND GENUINE CHAP........
I remember the Ace Of Spades back in the 80s - it was as seedy as hell, and always the threat of violence from the testosteroned up Squaddies and Plymouth Polytechnic spods. Good days though. Now it's dead and gone.
The very best to Union Street 👍👍
From your friend in America 🇺🇲🇬🇧
Many happy memories of the street from the 70's, mind you I did live one street behind it, so it was home for me.

It's funny seeing the Union Rooms
Wetherspoon as a new pub, it's very tired in 2024!
This was filmed a while ago! I'd guess between 1998-2004
Yeah definitely before 2004 as Millennium nightclub closed early 04
When I used to frequent The Strip that was a BMW Car dealership. So many good pubs and clubs gone since the 80s
i lived there 20 years ago ,used to be loads of agro on union street , good if its changed for the better
