  • URGENT - Galaxy Watch 4 User FIXED OVERHEATING!
Overheating on any Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 LTE, as well as Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, is an issue. However, this LTE user found a fix for his Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. It no longer overheats and his fix works well for his Galaxy Watch 4.

Not really, but for some reason I can not charge my watch with my phone via wireless power sharing... When I do so I get a nontification on my watch that tells me to put it in the center of the back of the phone - and it still won't charge.
Would really appreciate a video about it! Or even a comment :)
      THANK YOU

This is the MOST important issue for those of us that have paid a premium for LTE watches - it regularly overheats when the signal drops and is simply an expensive and useless feature of this watch. As for the fix the user has offered in this video - c'mon man! - mobile towers have one setting - max power output for maximum signal strength and range for customers. Modulating individual signal amplitudes for every single device connected to a tower seems technically unrealistic (Any comm's engineers out there that can comment?). Most likely when this user switched carriers they got extended coverage not offered by their previous carrier. The only other alternative I can see from this user's experience is that the carriers can change the type of signal packets more suited to watches (maybe someone can comment if is this a thing in mobile network land?) When I experience low signal - my watch overheats. It's that simple. Walking up the stairs in the middle of my house - low signal -watch overheats. In a small terrain dip while out on a run - low signal - watch overheats. This is a Samsung issue and not even being acknowledged by Samsung. Can someone in this industry with a strong voice please call this out - it's ridiculous the product has not been openly and widely ridiculed in the tech media and Samsung can keep marketing and selling this feature without a fix. It's like Galaxy s7 battery fiasco but nothing is being done about a faulty product. I suppose your device needs to catch on fire while flying on a plane for Samsung to offer to fix a faulty product. End rant 🥵

You're right! It's weird because I've had mine for a while. But I never updated it. Just updated it & now it's over heating? Garbage. Lesson learned. My next phone, watch has to be an IPhone. SMH. Samsung using that same old tired formula, whereas their customers help each other thru forums like this for a fix. Sad, and no thanks anymore Samsung

Agreed! I've had this problem on my Watch 4 which was provisioned as a watch by my carrier... Always overheated especially at home due to the weak signal in my area. I thought this issue would have been resolved with the Watch 5 pro.... First, it took me 3 hours with an ATT carrier tech to get number sync to work. Finally got it synced once then my 5 pro overheated. Ugh! I love the functionality of the Samsung Galaxy smartwatch but they are too expensive to not be addressing a fix for this. Just got my 5 yesterday but returning it to the store today.

I fixed this issue! I sold all my Samsung crap and bought iPhone! Crazy, and just like that, now the problem went away. I got an Apple Watch Ultra, an iPhone 13 and an iPad and they all work in unison, as if they enjoy working together. My Samsung Note 20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy watch 4, and Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 worked like an unfortunate married couple. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I had never heard of this problem until today. I activated my plan 2 days ago and received my first call today. I got the overheating message and had to reboot the watch. 1 single call did this. I got the number sharing plan, so it shouldn't have been a problem. I'm gonna make some more tests. If this continues, I'll ask for a refund and pick the non-lte version. BTW, I have a strong LTE signal here.

    • @tiagop.6492

It's worse than I thought 😔. I just went for a workout session without my phone and the watch connected to the LTE network. In 1h15m my watch crashed twice due to overheating and my battery went from 90% to 0% It didn't even need to receive a call. I'll try to find a solution online, but if I can't, I'll probably try to get a refund, cancel my new plan and get a BT watch instead. What a hassle! I can't believe Samsung is selling a product in this state.

Glad I found this video and checked the comments. I got a LTE Watch 4 Classic right when they were released but kept having the overheating problem. Replaced it and still had overheating problems again. My original Galaxy Watch, and the Watch 3 I have now never overheat with LTE use. I keep wanting to give the Watch 4 LTE another shot, but definitely not wasting my time after reading these comments. It certainly makes me skeptical of tech reviewers online, as there's tons of people reviewing this watch (including LTE model) and I never see any of them mention overheating issues. Also makes me less likely stick with Samsung products in the future.

I just started experiencing this with my watch and did just switch carriers. Problem is this carrier, like others, has number sharing. That being said, number sharing has nothing to do with this overheating issue. To pay the amount of money I did for this watch to have it be rendered useless when I'm outside walking (it overheats within 4 minutes in the sun and any temp about 70) and then takes 15 minutes to cool down. I can take my phone out with me, have it be in the sun as well with no overheating issues. I was very excited to get this watch a year ago but since then, feel it's been a rip off and hasn't lived up to expectations.

I have the T-Mobile stand alone watch plan. The overheating issue is a consistent problem:
★ Everywhere when LTE is on
★ Same when connected to WiFi & in use
★ Especially when Bluetooth connected to phone concurrently with either of the above
★ Sometimes when only Bluetooth connected to phone + battery saver on
Ω★⟩⟩⟩>»›Unless I start getting too far away from the phone (from bedroom to living room about 30-45 ft with 1 wall)
∞Ω★★ If I am somewhere with hot ambient temps above 75-80°F for too long it overheats more frequently, no matter what settings, if I'm doing anything or not on the watch, even in airplane mode rarely cooling down enough to come out automatically like normal.
∞Ω★★★ Same overheating as above in normal or cool ambient temperatures when the battery saver setting IS NOT turned on with just 1 connection type in use

I have number sharing on T-mobile US and constantly overheating on LTE. I sent my first Watch 4 Classic back to Samsung and they claimed they repaired it. It was still overheating. They replaced it with another and it still overheats. Was hoping a firmware update would eventually resolve this issue but no luck yet. Very frustrating especially when we are paying extra for a monthly watch plan and this continues to be an issue.

I spent about 4 hours on the phone with Samsung and AT&T. Eventually they told me I had to send it in which I did. When I received it back I was able to make a 30 second call before it overheated. I called and they wanted me to send it back to them. I can't continue to do this and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I do love the watch. It is the lte version and only overheats when away from the watch.

It drains the battery within 6 hours of minimal use and overheats when I make a phone call 👍 absolutely fine if I'm connected by Bluetooth, will last 2 days of heavy use. So I literally just use it on LTE for cycling. 1 he cycle with GPS and music (which is downloaded on the watch will eat about 40% battery 😂👌

Part of what your video says seems to be accurate - every time my watch loses connection with my phone over bluetooth, it decides to tell me its overheating (* Only happened at home, I have terrible signal for mobile phones, but I do have wifi on with my watch so wtf?) . Didn't realise the connection with signal until watching this video. Not remotely impressed to be honest, trying to call my service provider now but of course they won't have a clue about this issue.. I noticed this at the weekend after provisioning the eSIM on a watch that I'd had for a week. Almost immediately got the "cooling down" messages on LTE.
Today, I called Samsung who said "it's due to low cell signal, it's a carrier issue, you need to talk to your mobile provider."
I explained that I didn't think that the provider is going to install a new tower outside my house to fix their watch issue. Nor would that solve the problem the moment that the wearable devices moves location to another with weak signal.
100% it's a Samsung issue and I explained that I shall make it my duty to use social media outlets to add my comments as to what a pile of shit the LTE implementation is.

I think the BT automatically turned on with last update. Since turning BT off it hasnt had any issue. Just thought id mention that.

I have the watch 5 pro with Verizon (USA) with a shared number and still have overheating issues and they have devices under the account. Any suggestions?

  • @KC-lg8qf
    @KC-lg8qf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I believe that user is Incorrect. I have number share with At@t in the US and had the same overheating issue.I also had the issue with my S3 frontier....but it seemed to resolve itself after some time...and some updates.
I swapped for another watch and will do more testing for the S4. It's a Samsung issue...they throttle the watch too fast. It's barely warm when it decides it's too hot to operate and shuts down. They need to allow it to get warmer.
Could also be a hardware issue where the watch breaks in a bit more overtime and is able to dissipate heat better the longer you own it....maybe.

I had it on my old galaxy smart watch but I solved .....it was melted glue under cover of sensors, after cleaning it, no more message saying to cool down.
I have this watch for more than 3 years, never a single problem till today, tought was the battery, it wouldn't keep turned on for more than a minute,.
I was lucky when I notice the cover moved a little to one side, than I saw all the glue over the sensors.
After a deep cleaning it is working like new, only problem had to use clear tape to secure the cover 😒 🤷‍♂️.
Hope someone finds helpful this information.

nothing to do with number sharing to resolve the problem, its the same reason why your battery drains quickly on your mobile in areas of weak to no signal, the device constantly tries to find a signal to lock on to, this then causes the watch to overheat. overall it is a design fault of the device and should not be blamed on the network provider

Hmm. I'm going to try that. My watch usually gets the overheating warning when I leave the phone in the bedroom and goes to the kitchen. It's too far for the Bluetooth. I guess it loses Bluetooth and then simultaneously tries to get WiFi and LTE connection. I'm going to turn off WiFi and see if it helps.

A most simple solution is just to turn off mobile data during a workout at remote areas... I had the overheating issue in a specific loaction in my running trail over and over again, I turned off the mobile date toggle, downloaded my spotify playlist to the watch, and Walla... 2 hours hike today at the same area, health monitoring on, gps on, music playing, and no overheating at all.
For me, I use the LTE feature during workouts only as emergency so I don't miss anything turning the mobile data off during a workout..

My Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm just started overheating while charging about a month ago. Now I regularly get messages that my watch shut down to cool off, and often it is hot when I pick it off the charger! I have switched charger pods twice and it still does it. Is anyone else experiencing this? Occasionally in the past it would overheat if the magnets were misaligned, at least I think that was the cause, but it was a fairly rare occurrence. Now it gets hot everytime I charge it! I have all updates installed and am not running the Beta 4.5 software (I missed signing up in time!). I LOVE my GW4 Classic and don’t want to damage it, especially as the 5 doesnt even have the rotating bezel (What were you thinking with removing that Samsung???).
