The song is about Blues Legend Robert Johnson. He started trying to perform in the 1930s but he was not good at all so he kept getting run out of those places. He disappeared for 3yrs and when he started again everyone was amazed at his ability to play so well. Stories were started about how he got so good in only 3yrs. Very young here, and he's worked on his voice and has a much better range now. Regardless, very unique and for us fans of traditional country music a breath of fresh air.

But I got to admit, I really don't have the taste for meat like I did when I was younger. I think it has more so to do with fast food joints, and pretty much advertisements for any and all restaurants today in America. Americans tend to overeat, and eating in general is a gluttonous affair here. The portions are huge everything seems to be dipped in butter and fried. Which, yeah when you're young you can handle crap like that. But just to see it all day everywhere you go and billboards and commercials and kind of makes you sick after a while.
@@slugcult1973 that's not the usual response i get when i mention being vegan. Thanks for not instantly turning to abuse aha. You sound like you have a great head on your shoulders. The difference between veganism and vegetarianism is this. Vegetarians don't eat meat, but are happy to indulge in other by products of animals i.e cheese, eggs, leather etc Whereas veganism isn't just a diet of no animal products, it's also a stance against animal cruelty and an effort to avoid animal suffering and death as much as is humanly possible. I hope this helps and one day you're able to take a positive step, my man :)

I was so happy to see you react to this song. when i first saw this video a year ago it blew me away. if you like Colter Wall, you'll love Tyler Childers as well. i recommend "Nose to the Grindstone" from him.
Yes, please!!
those eye flutters and giggles is what any man or performer wants to hear and see
I love how she's reacting to this all. She absolutely wants to jump his bones 😂.
I learned so much about how I sing watching this 😂😂😂 I have a very similar range to Colter Wall, and singing his songs has improved my singing so much as I got out of my teens, but now I can kinda tell what I do and how I do that. So thank you for that very very much
Him singing Cowpoke with Western AF is my absolute favorite song of his. Please please listen to it!
One of the better reaction videos about this amazing song performer, I appreciate the way you break it down into digestible terms that fully capture what he’s doing with his vocals, guitar, and kick drum
I agree with several other comments on here - check out Tyler Childers as well. “Nose on the Grindstone” or “Lady May”.
I remember when I heard this song for the first time a few years ago. I was blown away. Been a fan ever since.
To hear him speak watch "Cowpoke " and to see his range on Western As F**k
That’ll show you all you need to know bout him
I love how giddy you get listening to someone really cool who does unusual stuff musically, great reaction. Colter wall is awesome as well
you should absolutely do Shawn James, especially Through The Valley
Yeeeez his voice is so incredible. One second he sounds like a beautiful prophet/angel, and then the next second he can make his voice sound like Satan himself, he’s incredible
Especially God's Gonna Cut You Down
Yes! I got the giggly euphoria first time I heard him as well!
Yep, his song, "Cowpoke" has a cleaner sound vocally with a western folksy style. Storytelling, basically. I've said it's like Arlo Guthrie and Johnny Cash combined. Well worth a listen to hear his ability
Was hooked on mister Wall the first time i heard him , talent ,voice, and picking
Other guy with a strong voice is this gentleman Jökull Júlíusson
. He sings in the band Kaleo from Iceland, they have great music videos in iceland. If I can suggest a song, for a reaction maybe Kaleo - I Can't Go on Without You (live on 89.3 The Current), or the Cher cover Bang Bang is a "Banger". And just for your appreciation of the landscapes, Save Yourself in a iceberg or Way down we go in a volcano
I second a nomination for Kaleo, particularly Way Down We Go.
I love finding someone as excited as I am to listen to Colter Wall. Her excitement gives me life
if you like the vibe, look up "Late July" by Shakey Graves. Very charismatic voice and has a cool kick/snare foot drum he sits on. He is pure talent too, I've seen him live twice.
So, I watched your two videos on Colter Wall. I had never heard of this guy before. Now I'm a bit obsessed. Have listened to his multiple albums. Love his music. You need to listen to Caroline, a song he does with Belle Plaine. Wow. I saw a concert version of it, and it wasn't the same as the original. Please listen to the original, even if you can't review it on your channel. Thank you for introducing me to his music. I don't even listen to country western, but I am a fan now!
He’s talking about Robert Johnson when he supposedly sold his soul to learn guitar. Robert Johnson was a delta blues legend
Omg! YEEEESSSS!!! I'm so glad you did this one! He's so good. So young, such a mature sound.
Music like this gives me an almost irresistible urge to raise and rope cattle while dressed like the Marlboro man.
Makes me the shittiest vegan ever, but i have to agree 🤠🤠🤠
@@charleycox3944 Nahh, you're good. You raise cattle, and you can rope cattle. Just don't eat 'em. I'm not a vegan, or even if a vegetarian, I'm not even sure what's the difference between a vegan and a vegetarian.
Vegetarians don't eat meat, but are happy to indulge in other by products of animals i.e cheese, eggs, leather etc
Whereas veganism isn't just a diet of no animal products, it's also a stance against animal cruelty and an effort to avoid animal suffering and death as much as is humanly possible. I hope this helps and one day you're able to take a positive step, my man :)
@@charleycox3944 well, I live in Manhattan New York City, and it's just so common around here. They have vegan restaurants and supermarkets everywhere. My last three girlfriends were all vegan. And I have a few vegan friends, and it's the norm here. Then again in New York City, we have everything. Just when you think you've seen the strangest thing, you'll see something that tops it all. I was born and raised here, and I still see wacky shit. Just this morning, I ran into a couple of hare krishna's skateboarding up in Union Square Park. And you got to be pretty pathetic if someone being vegan causes you to want to poke fun at the guy. Seems like a strange thing to be upset about. I don't get people.
@@slugcult1973 Man i hear that. I live in Queenstown, New Zealand, but all my family are scattered around Manhattan, Brooklyn, Rochester and Syracuse. New York City is a wild place, but i love it so much. As you so well explained it's a melting pot of diversity and culture and it will always have a happy place in my heart and soul. The amount of vegan food there just blew me away. It's such an easy place to choose kindness when you sit down for a meal. I love it. Damn now I'm nostalgic as hell haha
Makes me think of the old style of country, where you told a story that had a point. It’s so cool to see this style come back to life a bit!
Please react to Cowpoke by him! It shows his improvement as a singer since his debut album.
his voice and style are so much more refined now than they are during these old sessions
If you like this. Go find “The Dead South- In Hell I’ll be in Good Company”
I back this 100%.
On the one hand I would love that, on the other: Broken Cowboy has eclipsed In Hell for me.
The Dead South are awesome
I'm not into country music, so today is the first time I've heard, and heard of, Colter Wall and I really enjoyed him. His sound is so interesting and reminded me of someone else, and the only name I could come up with was Johnny Cash. I'll have to look him up and listen to some more form him.
Music like this makes me want to drink bourbon outside at night in Louisiana.
It’s hilarious that you lean in to hear what you are listening for. You’re very expressive. The way you need put on music, is awesome. We could see where you got goosebumps. A voice coach, what a cool perspective from a reaction.
For anyone looking for a fun music black hole for your perusal: Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Benjamin Todd, and Morgan Wade all have some great lyrics and grit
Western AF and GemsOnVHS are great channels to get into a deep hole on.
Or Zach Bryan
definitely, country music is making a comeback but it isnt on the radio
I'll just add a couple to the list for anyone interested. Matt Heckler, The Hill Country Devil and Jason Dea West are all great. You can find them as someone suggested earlier on Gems on VHS. Wester AF has some really great artists as well!
@@IEmIM Id also add Arlo McKinley, Shakey Graves, Devil Makes Three, Steeldrivers with or without Chris Stapleton, and Trampled by Turtles
Listened to Colter for years, but love the way the reviewer reacts to the video. Her facial expressions are wonderful..
