Actually, analytics don't work as a predictive mechanism - they only predict trends, not specific events - and they can't perfectly predict whether and how those trends will change - a player can bounce back or tank for unpredictable reasons that defy the data. What analytics can do is tell you what's already happened: it's how you project that info into the future that counts (or doesn't); personally, I think the NYY have over-relied on them to predict what's going to happen in the next game, AB, pitch, etc. because they spend A LOT of $ on their dept. What the analytics are good for is to inform a hitter "most of the time at 3 & 2 he throws a fastball - BUT, sometimes he throws the curve." Our hitters too often look like they're sitting on one pitch - like a fastball's been predicted - and that's the fault of the analytics dept. Now, hitters gotta hit, but that's a different story.
@@joemama-tn7zl You bet. To sum up, over-reliance occurs when what's happened in the past MOST of the time is predicted to happen next time and EVERY time after that and players are made to play to what the data is interpreted as saying and not to their strengths and skills and the flow of the game. E.g., the data says it's hard to string 3 singles together against one pitcher most of the time, so the players are told to either try to walk or hit a HR, because they require fewer consecutive successful outcomes (e.g., walks don't require hard contact). So, then, we watch these games where Gleyber and whoever's playing right field, etc. are swinging for the fences because the analysts tell them it's easier to hit a HR when they should be going the other way. The players, then, are playing to the data, not to their skill sets and what the pitcher gives them, and as NYY fans we say "they need more contact bats" because it's boring to watch guys walk back to the dugout over and over again; the NYY lost A LOT of games they should've won that way, as you know, because the stats get in the way of the game. Do you get my drift?

They'll be better without Soto. Instead of being overly reliant on two hitters they'll fill out the lineup now with two additions, possibly three. Christian Walker, Anthony Santander, Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson and Teoscar Hernandez are just some of the names they'll choose from. Just upgrading first base will constitue a major improvement. Add a solid hitter in RF or CF and they'll more than replace Soto. Adding a third veteran to DH and play occasional OF like say, lefty Joc Peterson, would give them a lot of flexibility and backup to cover the inevitable injuries. Then there's the kid named Jasson Dominguez. Hopefully cutting ties with Verdugo opens the door to regular playing time for Dominguez who's currently the odds on favorite to be the AL R.O.Y. in '25. And finally, they can allow Oswaldo Cabrera and the promising Caleb Durbin compete for the 3B - utility inf slots. Without the burden of the Soto contract the Yankees suddenly have a lot more options on the table.
Cashman still having a job is mind blowing. Yanks gotta get rid of this idiot if they plan on going anywhere. Little brother down the street got them shook.
You can't replace Soto's bat with one player and they have to know that, but you probably can come close to replicating his production (HR/RBI) between two players while at the same time putting a more balanced team on the field. They were so top heavy this season where so many positions were absolute black holes especially first base. You can rectify the absence of Soto by assembling a more well-rounded offense and not one where you solely rely on the bats at the top of the order. And please just play Dominguez in the outfield to start the year. I feel like upper management keeps their top prospects in purgatory where they are too valuable to trade, but apparently not good enough to play at the major league level. I know he is young, but it's time to shit or get off the pot. Let's see what the kid's got.
Well put. Just upgrading first base will go a long way towards replacing Soto. They got next to nothing this year from a position that usually produces significant offense. Christian Walker and/or the lefty Bellinger (finally) and it significantly improves the overall lineup. He hit 18 hr's and .266 with 78 rbi's playing half a season batting in front of Isaac Paredes, an automatic out who hit 3 hr's and .223. Put the 28 yr old Bellinger in Yankee Stadium batting in front of Judge and he'll be a whole 'nother other hitter. 25+ hr's, .280 and 90 rbis......maybe more. And he's an outstanding defender in CF, RF or 1B. If they can't sign Christian Walker they can play Bellinger at 1B and pursue Anthony Santander or Teoscar Hernandez to play RF. The lefty Joc Pederson (23 hr's .276 ) is available too. He'd be an excellent lefty DH and backup LF'r. That would allow them to play Dominguez and still have insurance in case he struggles or somebody gets injured, which is inevitable. Not signing Soto frees up a huge sum of money making all those moves possible, plus adding more pitching.
Here it is in order more/less 1. GO SIGN AND GET ROKI SASAKI - 2. TRADE FOR K Tucker and C Bellinger - 3. Go get T Scott and a 3B and let O Cabrera play UTIL or give him a shot

Our farm seems awful bare between deals the past few seasons and guys graduating to the big club. This was the first rule 5 draft in a decade or more where the yanks didn't lose any prospects. Usually we lose multiple on rule five day. 2024 .. not a single one. If we skimp on a roster spot or position, outside of wells, jasson & rice we don't have all that much to get excited about that's close to ready
I went from "I could never wear another team's jersey or hat" to owning a Wade Boggs Rays jersey and a Mets hat -- all in the last 3 years. If there was ever a sign that Brian Cashman should be fired, this should be it. (and Boone, too.)
I'll laugh when Mets fans start booing Soto the way they booed Lindor and start complaining when they realize Cohen will make them pay for this absurd deal with higher ticket, food and merch prices as well as streaming games for separate fees.
So Obvious, Trade for Bellinger!!!! He will be in the Mvp race like last year the way the Yankees field plays. A Lefty Power CF that's been a Mvp!!! 😳 And the Cubs aren't asking alot per rumors. Get it done Cash!!!!! They got Wesneski too, he hasn't got much of a chance with them. 🤔 Pry a guy you should ask for as a throw in and he could be really great in the system he developed in. 🤷🏻 Sounds like Cubs are gonna get a Top 10ish prospect from someone for Bellinger, I would counter that you want Wesneski back for said prospect and then they can take some A ⚾ throw in for Wesneski.
Need to do a lot more than just Fried, especially with the Sox closing in on Crochet, whom I thought should have been their first priority, he is that good!
@@blacknosugar_99 Agree that he's not better, but he's got a lot of upside with 100mph from that arm slot and only being 25. Nasty 93mhp changeup.....I still like Max Fried though.
Best thing that could’ve happened to Cashman was Soto declining that contract offered by the Yanks. I don’t deny Soto’s talent but 15 years is a very risky investment. I don’t get why MLB contracts can be similar to NBA and NFL contracts. 4-5 years contracts is simple enough. But obviously, it ain’t my money.
Soto is one major injury away from becoming the next Mike Trout or Giancarlo Stanton. Thank God the Yankees didnt make that mistake......again. Trading Michael King and Drew Thorpe for Soto was a bad enough mistake. They're both gonna win a Cy Young. But compounding that mistake by signing Soto to an insane deal would've been like pouring gas on a fire.
Unless that clown brian big bird cashman trades for cody bellinger (without giving up jasson dominguez) and signs christian walker and alex bregman this offseason will be considered a failure. Because there's no reason why the yankees can get and afford all of those players with the money they saved from juan soto leaving for the mets.
personally besides the soto stuff ive been said cashman has lost his touch ... baseballs changed ... yankees need a change ... too long of a leash for the glory days ....
Ever since Cashman has had the job, he's had the largest, {or damn near it}, bank roll to work with year in and year out ! All that he has to do is choose from the top free agents, while out bidding other teams who can't afford the luxury tax. How hard is that? Yet he still hasn't gotten it done dispite the obvious advantages he holds as the New York Yankees GM. I have questioned his over all knowledge of the game ever since he's come in to the fold. He's worse than Jerry Jones, at least there's a salary cap in football. There's no excuse for Cashman.
Ya just gave a 31 years old an 8 years contract 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ a guy who has been in the league since 2017 and hasn’t thrown 900 innings yet, let’s see what ya can get out of him
He just added an elite starter and one of the top closers in the game and you're complaining? You prefer Cortes and Holmes? One of the best pitching staffs in MLB just got a lot stronger. Soto and Rizzo hit a combined 53 hr's. Now they're gonna go get a 1B and RF'r who will hit at least that many. They might even add three good hitters. They'll be a way better ballclub in '25 instead of relying on just two hitters, one of whom pounds his chest and flips his bat every time he hits a solo dinger with his team down by 6 runs. Soto didn't belong in pinstripes. That cheesey Hollywood act is better off in a Mets uniform. Mets fans will be booing him before the end of May, just watch. It's so predictable.
I'm mad as hell the Yankees did not Do enough to keep Juan soto ok Now it's gonna be the same ok Juan soto helped the Yankees go To the world series I'm sorry to say Watch the Yankees in 2025 it's not Gonna be the same ok stupid Yankees ok 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
His contract is absurd. He's one major injury away from becoming the next Mike Trout or Giancarlo Stanton. Now the Yankees will add two, maybe three good hitters to produce a much better lineup 1-9 and add more great pitching along with Max Fried. Plus, letting go of Verdugo opens room for the odds on favorite to be the AL R.O.Y in '25 - Jasson Dominguez. They'll win 100 games while Soto pounds his chest and flips his bat hitting solo dingers when the Mets are down by 6 runs. Mets fans will boo him.just like they booed Lindor.
Hal had to set a limit on how much to spend on one player,he has more important positions to address. Soto was playing the Yankees and the Mets, the Mets lost and will soon have buyers remorse
That makes no sense. The suburban team is the METS, who play for Queens and Long Island where lifelong Mets fan Steve Cohen grew up. The Yankees represent NYC. And they have major fan bases in every MLB city. Heck, you can see Yankee hats on the streets of Nairobi and Saigon, where people don't even know what it means. The Mets have none of that..

Brian gets the assisgnment💯🤝
I went from "I could never wear another team's jersey or hat" to owning a Wade Boggs Rays jersey and a Mets hat -- all in the last 3 years. If there was ever a sign that Brian Cashman should be fired, this should be it. (and Boone, too.)
😊let's goo
I'll laugh when Mets fans start booing Soto the way they booed Lindor and start complaining when they realize Cohen will make them pay for this absurd deal with higher ticket, food and merch prices as well as streaming games for separate fees.
ANOTHA ACE PITCHER..FRGET SCHMIDT AND RONDON.
Pitching, pitching pitching now Cashman is talking about baseball, bring Burnes too and we are ready to go
If we can land arenado❤ wells gonna have to rock 88 or 18 😅 and if you can get Alonso he can have Soto number 😜
Need to do a lot more than just Fried, especially with the Sox closing in on Crochet, whom
I thought should have been their first priority, he is that good!
Hes not better than fried tho and stats back up what im saying
Red Sox got him.
Too late 😜🤣
@brandonfletcher7173 Snell is better than both so you both lose 😂
@@blacknosugar_99 Agree that he's not better, but he's got a lot of upside with 100mph from that arm slot and only being 25. Nasty 93mhp changeup.....I still like Max Fried though.
Sign Burnes and bring the Young talent up like jones; rice and dominguez
Its not Cashman. He can bring all the help. Key players cant shrink in the playoffs. He can pay them all the money. Is either you have it or you dont.
C@$4 make it happen
Nico Hoerner or Brandon Lowe
Why he looks so nervous?
Because whe has no tricks up his sleeves , everyone who wanted to sign NY most likely has had an offer out already
Hes just a nerd. Nothin crazy
Let’s go get Tatis !!! Resign Nestor and trade him with stroman . Love them but it’s worth it.
Volpe shouldn't be playing SS. He has a weak arm, which makes rush and make errors. Move him to 2B, Jazz to SS and get a 3B, 1B and power hitting OF.
Jazz isnt a ss tho. We need to learn our lesson from playing guys out of position
I have no hope for the next 10 years man
I'll miss Rizzo but if we could steal Alonso like the Mets just stole Soto id have a very merry happy Christmas 🎄😂❤
We don’t need another right handed slugger. No thanks!
You don’t want Alonso.
Max fried is always on the injured list
This is not the first time I’ve heard this. Never really watched him to know. But I can look it up to verify your comment but I’m just lazy. Love you
personally besides the soto stuff ive been said cashman has lost his touch ... baseballs changed ... yankees need a change ... too long of a leash for the glory days ....
Its hard for him to admit vulnerabilities i notice
Make sweeney murti nyy gm
Go get ha seong kim brian! He's cheap and a gold glove
fluff n sweet talk the yankees lost their identity as an whole organization
😂👍🏿
Cashman needs to stop signing guys over 30 long contracts like pitcher Max Fried lol
Harold Reynolds needs to be a GM or Manager and stop playing around!!!!!!!!!
No rings since 2009. Cashman should be fired.
They literally just made the ws lol his job is pretty safe
Wasted all that time on hoto and lost crochet to red Sox, back to shopping the I.L list😅😅😅😅😅
*THIS GUY IS THE WORST GM , IN MLB HISTORY* 😂
Ha
Soto isnt a winner. He joined the Mets..another Bobby Bonia
Yeah he should’ve been fired along time ago smh
Judge should have signed with San Francisco 🥃🔥
Many reasons
Why, so he could hit 25 HR’s in one of the biggest parks in the league
The city of SF is trash! Disgrace to America
😂😂😂😂
Who cares about Juan. That's stale NY news. Get over it.
Let's dance! Why Am See Ey!
Why Am See Ehey!
NY sucks!
Such a way with words.
Ya just gave a 31 years old an 8 years contract 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ a guy who has been in the league since 2017 and hasn’t thrown 900 innings yet, let’s see what ya can get out of him
With a 67% winning percentage and a 3.07 era . He's a heck of a pitcher.
Insane lol
We lost sotto and Torres and Rizzo and this clown cashman got a pitcher and a closer. Where's the offense ..the guy is a 🤡
He just added an elite starter and one of the top closers in the game and you're complaining?
I'm mad as hell the Yankees did not
Do enough to keep Juan soto ok
Now it's gonna be the same ok
Juan soto helped the Yankees go
To the world series I'm sorry to say
Watch the Yankees in 2025 it's not
Gonna be the same ok stupid
Yankees ok 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Phrase of the day "There's different ways to skin the cat "
WANT TO IMPROVE ROSTER !!!!!!!! VERY EASY # 1 FIRE CASHMAN #2 FIRE THE IDIOT BOONE #3 WAIVE TRENT GRISHOLM TO AAA + # 4 WAIVE TATOO MAN MADCUS STROMAN
Yankees need to move out my Bronx to jersey with the rest of the fan base
Lmfao make NYC GREAT AGAIN Yankees not it
That makes no sense.
Guess u never been to a game lmao I can assure u 90% of fans going to citi field from queens I’m from the bx and trust me 99% not from the bx
Can’t be serious
@robjames6434 I have no clue what you're trying to say. There's no period at the end of sentences, inappropriate use of upper and lower case letters and horrendous sentence structure. You need to take a class in basic English grammar and writing.
