Stumbled upon this delightfully charming set of videos a couple of days ago and have been glued to the small screen ever since. Congratulations on producing such intelligent, informative and entertaining films. I am learning a great deal about the vanishing skills of our world. Thank you very much.
I used to show this series when I taught French in Minneapolis Schools in the 1990s so I’m sure the gentleman was correct who said it was filmed in 1987. Now I’m planning a trip to France and hope to take at least one barge journey Richard Nohel
Found your video of Lyon silk weavers first looking for "gold thread" but then moved on to this episode. I found the haberdasher's shop on Rue de Choiseul last spring whilst looking for the stationers in the passage Choiseul. Wonderful shop. Bought some ribbon. Great to see it appreciated. Will watch your other postings as a treat. Excellent.
Can I ask ? Was this filmed in 1987 ? If yes, I think you went under the Pont D Iena (Eiffel Tower) as I was going over the bridge. I seem to remember seeing you go underneath and am convinced there was a camera on your barge shooting upwards. I’m pretty sure I waved but wasn’t sure it was you or not. I would have been 12 years old at the time. Just wondered if that was caught on film ?
