I'm 43 and just started having the insanely strong urge to paint. I've been painting like crazy. I don't even care if it's good or bad, it's just coming out of the ether, my brain and onto paper. Your art is beautiful!
That's brilliant to hear! We all make bad art at some stage, be it good or bad it's wonderful creativity and it's great you're following your intuition
Thank you Paula. I've been waiting for someone now for 5 months to build my website but to no avail. You mention etsy and that is what I'm going to do. I am 70 and love to paint. All the best to everybody with your sales!!!
I just turned 62 and took up painting whilst waiting for a hip operation about 18 months ago ...I've had my op and I'm still painting because I love the whole creative process ...more power to you @johnogrady
Very inspiring and encouraging, thank you! About a month ago I started an instagram to share my art and build some online presence. Very scary! As I am very introverted and putting myself out there is so not in my nature 😅. It is slow going, but I do have hopes for the future. Besides that, the struggles and thought-processes in your video are very recognizable! Oh, and I just turned 40. It’s never too late 😊
Thank you for the encouragement! I've spent the year preparing to sell my work in January for the first time. I now have only a couple of months left to finish paintings, do all the logistical planning, register my business, get permits, etc. I'm getting increasingly excited and nervous as January approaches. My hope is to paint full time in a few years. I am currently a full time teacher. All the preparation has been so much fun but now I'm starting to get a bit anxious about making this work financially. I'm putting my best foot forward, but we'll see what happens I guess. :)
This sounds fantastic, you’re moving in the right direction 👏👏 Wishing you lots of success with it. I’m working on something exciting for artists who find selling a challenge so keep an eye out 💫
Thanks Paula! I've been an advocate for on line sales since the late '90s and to the present. Helping others over the years by writing for them and encouraging them to put their stories out there. Ironically, I'm the worst at taking my own advice! (nervous laugh...). The shoemaker's kids have no shoes thing I suppose. Either way, way to go, your words are so true! I've seen so many successes over the years by people doing just what you are telling us to do here. Thank you and keep going!
Nobody has stated their Biggest Fear? I have a Facebook Page only. I too get scammers and men that are creapy obsessed.lol. im 55yo. My fear is... Underselling my prices. But plan to put my artwork in frames. I bought a mitter saw. Just need to find room in my tiny narrow art studio. Thanks for the inspiration.
Ignore the scammers & block 👍 Pricing work is a big topic, I think you have to price in where you’re energetically able to believe in that price. Underselling your art can be harmful long term. Look at similar artists and see where the balance is for you.
Thanks for the great message, what you said is what I need to go, get out of the dreaded comfort zone and get my work out there, in my mind, I've got some of the best looking work (haha we all say that about our work right?), and that will become more clear on my channel soon, I'm a great painter, but a crap marketer, I wouldn't know how to market Ford merch to Ford lovers, so that's what I need to work on, once I've got that mastered, everything else should fall into place, thanks for the message 🙂
Thanks for your message. The comfort zone is a tempting place to stay stuck. Keep moving forward with small steps & you’ll look back and see the growth. I’m working on something exciting for artists who find selling a challenge so keep an eye out 💫 All the best with your creative pursuits
I don't have a TH-cam channel but post my art on Instagram and a few other websites. I have been contacted several times by "buyers" who turn out to likely be scammers. I blocked them when i got suspicious. How do you avoid them? They say they are interested but when the payment is due something happens and they try to make me pay for a fee or something similar. I'm afraid i'll start doubting buyers who actually are interested for real
I’ve had this experience too Linda. You’re doing the right thing to block, I no longer engage and have a pretty good idea of the wording that is used. I always direct people to my website & if they’re genuine they’ll purchase there. Don’t let it put you off. All the best x
I’ll be 76 in a few months and this looks good to me. I’ve spent the last month trying to set up online stores etc and find my lack of technical skills is really holding me back. How do you find the actual filming and editing?
I just turned 40 and feeling lost. I needed to hear this❤ thank you ❤
Glad you found it helpful ✨

Me too! I'd like to see a video on this topic.
I began to know I was an artist when I started saying, ”I’m an artist.”
Yes, completely agree with this 👏
thank you

That sounds great, well done! The filming is the easy part, the editing I’m still learning 💫
Great video keep posting
Thanks so much Karlena
I'm 60. Was recently nearly scammed by a so called potential buyer. It has totally put me off.
I'm looking for a gallery now.
So sorry to hear this put you off

Perhaps you should link your homepage and Instagram account, so customers can find your art?
It would be nice ❤
Thank you, That's a good idea!
