I love how crisp the audio is with that microphone! I'm just about to buy my first set of little lapel ones...as my iphone just isn't quite cutting it anymore, it picks up too much background noise. Anyway...thnx for tagging peepz along in your creative process. I need to do a video of me just yammering whilst I paint. I usually do a voice over afterwards, but I think a real life commentary, might be interesting to do.

Lovely green... commonly called phthalo green for short. Made from phthalates. Think of it sounding like "thigh-lo" then place the "p" sound in front of that and you've got it. Think of the "p" as being a slight whisper before pronouncing the rest.

I’m 65, been an artist of some kind for 20 years and only painting for about a year and a half. I have finally found my artistic stride and I’m very proud and confident of what I can do. Being told by a 20 something that I have to do social media is one thing, I get the necessity, but I’m running into ageism and condescension from that same age group in the online world. It’s all a dismissive sarcastic “okay boomer“ attitude in so many instances. It’s been off putting to say the least. Your channel is just what I needed to hear. I’m a new subscriber. I’m going to continue to be my fiercely authentic self and just wait for these young puppies to catch the hell up.

I'm Also over 40.. Been trying to get my art going for years.. I have been struggling cause of the fear of people not wanting to buy my art (It's to expensive, But people really like it) . I have sold many of my Best paintings as low as 20 dollars in the past.. That was painful for me and hurt my heart. I'm trying to get my heart back in the right place where I will be brave enough to try again at selling my art.. It's a endless battle between my heart and my thoughts of the past. I thank you for this video. I really appreciate hearing your experience. I think this video is gonna give me a push in the right direction!!

You don't have to be a techie or young, but you need to have motivation and focus. I have ADHD, and the struggle is real, despite the medication. I wish so much I could organize myself to consistently show up in my studio, create an Instagram or TH-cam account, and stick with it. I don't think I have a fear of failure regarding my painting, I have a fear that I won't be able to stick with it.

Your words hit home again and again. I'm 68 and I was what many consider to be a "successful" artist from the early 90s until around 2006. In 2006, my father died and all my creativity and will to create stopped. Dried up. I railed against this for about a year and then decided to call it a day. I closed my studio, put away my paints, and did other things. About a year ago, I took a chance and found a new studio, but my efforts to paint came with resistance and struggle. Your voice brings tears to my eyes because you're validating - in such simple and compassionate terms - what my experience is now. Thank you so much.

Great Video. I personally don't hide my art, I can't wait to show the world, even though I see many things wrong with my finished pieces. My issue is marketing, making it into a business...getting started somehow. I get hung up on the website design (yes, I am using an 'easy to use, click and drop' type website) and am just easily overwhelmed, so I walk away without accomplishing much of anything. I don't know how to sell myself. 'Well, your art should sell itself', which I find bogus. I need some sort of guidance in marketing I think.

Zero training, so not even an art degree to use as a shield. I can’t stand to have my art seen, I hide it even from my family, it’s that I am ashamed of how lousy my creations are, how poor are my compositions,my misuse of color, how ugly my mismatched brush and knife strokes are- my “art” is a hot mess. Told my son that when I die he will find a very large pile of “man cave “ color scribblings over which he and his friends can have a good laugh on the way to throwing it all in the dumpster. This video broke my heart. I am so glad that you found a way up into the light.

I just found you. You spoke to my heart. I was a kid of the 80’s. I heard the same messages and deviated from my design degree and had been wandering through different careers. I have come full circle and having a young child I didn’t want anyone to tell them that they couldn’t do something including myself. Congrats on being monetised. For me I have realised I am never going to get the courage to post my art under my real name it is just never ever going to happen so I have decided to just post under a ‘studio/business’ name and just go with that. Everyone says post under your real name as an artist but I just can’t do it and if I pick this other name I just might do so going to do that even if everyone says not to
