39 years old, and this is the first time I've ever had tears of pure joy. I've watched it dozens of times, and I still get goosebumps and a dumb smile plastered across my face. Every single person I've shown it to been stunned by it. This performance would not have been the same without Henk, the way he spurred Floor on and her response to go higher was performed brilliantly.
I've watched and re-watched this performance like 30 times or more, and then I suddenly realized this isn't even a "professional" gig... I mean, it's just a reality TV show where they are "having fun" making covers and singing for each other. They didn't have much time to rehearse or prepare anything, in a real musical the singers and musicians do rehearsals for months until everything is perfect. If in such little time they did THIS, I can only imagine what they are going to do on stage next year if they have more time to make this duet EVEN BETTER.

I don't know if you know, but all the singers are regarded the top of their genre. And the backing band, are all professional session/live musicians for a range of top dutch artists like for the show host Jan Smit or Marco Borsato and a boatload more. Also even though this was recorded over span of one week, they had received the songs 3 months in advance.
@@ginkarasu Duh! Don't be so butthurt, it was a POSITIVE comment of how good the performance was. I used the quotation marks on the words "professional" and "having fun" for a reason. I don't mean it in a literal or disrespectful sense. I obviously know the Marcel Fisser band has top-notch session musicians (they are so good Floor decided to do 9 concerts with them) and all the other singers have professional careers. But since you seem to know so much about music, you should probably know that in any musical performance, on Broadway or a band going on tour, it doesn't matter how much times they rehearse in advance, it's by playing many times in performances with an audience when the music fits together.
Henk is great. I might add that I was expecting this from him being in his element. Henk's performance that won me over was "The Sound of Silence". Completely out of his comfort zone, he won me over from "Hello, darkness my old friend..."

The Band is "next level." They had to arrange all of these songs, and with multiple genres. This show in total was amazing. I've been kind of afraid to watch other seasons, because how can you top this season? haha.
If that wasnt a "HOLY SHIT!!!" moment, then nothing will be, and it was pretty darn obvious it was that for you too. When this song was broadcast on Saturday, you could hear a pin drop from miles away, it silenced a nation for a good 20 to 30 seconds, or at least, it felt that way ;) Everyone was expecting magic, the hype was nuts (usually a killer) and we still were not ready for what they brought us. To me this is the best version of this song i've ever heard, and i seen the actual Opera several times with amazing singers, but Floor's voice is magic, pared with Henk its godlike. Henk made her shine even more than she already did, you saw how relaxed and happy she was to be on stage with him, his confidence raised her confidence, giving him even more reason to spur her on, and she keeps on giving, this is how the Phantom was meant to be done (yes its in a lower registry 1 down to be exact, and its all for the better) Thnx for your great reaction, your initial silence was just about the most perfect reply you could have given :) I think i'm going to change to calling her Miss Matryoshka, because no matter how many layers you peel away, there is more layers, and more, and more.
Henk sang this duet with Floor on one condition: The next time Nightwish is in the Netherlands he wants to sing it with Floor and Nightwish. Floor agreed. So it will be on their setlist in the Netherlands.

They only had Latin America, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus planned until may 2020 and than suddenly Amsterdam appeared for November 2020.
Minutes of stumbling over words and rubbing the face.. yep, thats how most of us reacted seeing that amazing performance for the first time. Mindblowing is the least one could say about this epic :) Expected an equally epic reaction from you, and it delivered for me in spades, and I seen a ton of these by now already. Shades of my early GLS reaction watching days, just can't stop listening to the performance AND seeing everyone get blown to bits in reactions as well.
The first time I listened to it, I began to hyperventilate a bit, and I got quite hot (because excitement) and the closer they got to the climax, the less I could stay still, and when Floor hit that D6 I squealed and began to jump, nearly waking up my little one who was soundly sleeping... and I stayed in that state for 10min, stuck between the need to jump of joy and tears wanting to run from my eyes. And then the cycle began again and again. I think I saw the video at least 100 times since it came out and I still can't... It's just... Wow...
I could listen to them singing this for the rest of my life hoping for an afterlife with more time to listen. Hopefully they do it again in 2020 when Nightwish visits the Netherlands, as that was the condition from Henk before he agreed to sing this duet.

I'm a man and not afraid to say, this voice sends me to tears every time i listen to this song. It is magical, the combination from both Hank who set's up the contrast in Floor's voice is magical. Floors voice is how I imagine an Angels voice to sound.

I've lost count how many time I've watched this, starting with watching the show itself and now a bazillion reactions. I still have nothing witty or insightful to say except, Floor's talent has no ceiling. That and I have developed an enduring love for this show & this cast of singers (and the Marcel Fisser band!).

You just witnessed a legendary display of artistic singing. There are good singers, great singers, excellent singers and phenomenal singers. Then there is Floor, a legend. Many rounds of applause for Henk who was exceptional.
I love the performance of Floor and Henk. But I love your reaction too. I'm Dutch, but never had seen that show on tv. Till Floor and Henk were all over the internet. Every time I hear and see this video, I just have to cry, because it's so beautifull.
Floor is one of those exceptional singers that come along so rarely. The closest i compare her to is Freddie Mercury in vocal ability and her ability to change vocal style is exceptional
I too was rendered genuinely speechless by this performance. That moment you realize that you just witnessed history, you just witnessed one of the best performances ever done!
The reaction of the other singers says it all!...….Saw it over and over again.....they've put a spell on me!...……...an other duet on this show is also a must see/hear, Henk Poort & Emma Heesters singing the Italian song "Viva Per Lei".

To 3:15 usually classical Opera sings don't put such distortion on their voices, but given that Floor is from Nightwish, Henk decided to do it as well (and you can see by Floors reaction that she didn't really seem to expect that)... and i have to say it's just amazing
As for the chemistry between the two, I heard that Floor admired Henk a lot when she was young. Singing together with him was a dream come true for her. That's (I think) she gave it all. She also had to stop performing for a while prior to this show because of medical reasons. So, now she could do it again, she went for it.

What cannot be easily seen is that there was a large rain storm when they got up to sing as the tent roof was leaking, you can see some if it at 3.08 (on the right hand side of the image/screen) in this video. It is a lot more apparent on the original Avrotos full length video and that still didn't put them off performing.

You just witnessed a legendary display of artistic singing. There are good singers, great singers, excellent singers and phenomenal singers. Then there is Floor, a legend. Many rounds of applause for Henk who was exceptional.
I love the performance of Floor and Henk. But I love your reaction too. I'm Dutch, but never had seen that show on tv. Till Floor and Henk were all over the internet. Every time I hear and see this video, I just have to cry, because it's so beautifull.
Floor is one of those exceptional singers that come along so rarely. The closest i compare her to is Freddie Mercury in vocal ability and her ability to change vocal style is exceptional
I too was rendered genuinely speechless by this performance. That moment you realize that you just witnessed history, you just witnessed one of the best performances ever done!

To 3:15 usually classical Opera sings don't put such distortion on their voices, but given that Floor is from Nightwish, Henk decided to do it as well (and you can see by Floors reaction that she didn't really seem to expect that)... and i have to say it's just amazing
As for the chemistry between the two, I heard that Floor admired Henk a lot when she was young. Singing together with him was a dream come true for her. That's (I think) she gave it all. She also had to stop performing for a while prior to this show because of medical reasons. So, now she could do it again, she went for it.

What cannot be easily seen is that there was a large rain storm when they got up to sing as the tent roof was leaking, you can see some if it at 3.08 (on the right hand side of the image/screen) in this video. It is a lot more apparent on the original Avrotos full length video and that still didn't put them off performing.
