Floor asked Henk for this duet. He accepted on one condition: "I want to do it again with Nigthwish when they visit the Netherlands!"
That would be awesome since Nightwishes' cover with Tarja and Marco is the best cover I've heard. So with Floor being my favorite all time singer, it would be incredible to hear Floor and Henk do it with Nightwish and more than likely it would become my favorite cover of The Phantom of the Opera.

@@rickyapril104 correct. Floor is amazing but we have to remember that she is a member of a band. A huge band called Nightwish that made it possible for her to gain world wide success and fame. Just a reminder.
He is also a guest on her upcoming solo shows so you can expect it there.

Every now and then something happens that's special. Unique. Once in a life time maybe. And to me, this is one of those things. Floor and Henk's voices, of course. But also their acting, their chemistry, their interaction, and what a wonderful web the timbres of their voices weaved. And then Andrew Loyd Webber's music. Toumas Holopainen's arrangement of it. The Marcel Fisser's band's performance of it. The intimacy setting, the postage-sized stage, the ambiance, the fact that it started raining mere minutes before this performance and the rain was leaking through the tent.
It just all came together to create something special.
Henk mentioned that he has come to enjoy distorting his voice while being on this show. But he also said that in opera, if you ever distorted your voice, you would be out of a job. This entire show Henk has been far out of his comfort zone, and it shows at times. What also shows is that he is having fun doing things with his voice as never before!
I know, right? He totally stepped out of his comfort zone and it was so fun to see him explore so many styles.

The song Henk&Emma did, VivoPerLei, was also beyond every imagination. They are stunning together. And both are doing such a fantastic performance.

This one was definitely my favorite next to phantom. Henk is just great and I think floors fame just outshines his presence in phantom. But with Emma there you can really enjoy henk even Beter. And Emma was great to.

The last episode was amazing. All the duets were great. But one other really stood out for me, beside the obvious one of course. Henk with Emma was very good and super emotional.

I loved seeing Floor outside her comfort zone. One thing I learned about her during this show is, when she covers your song... It's no longer your song. She definitely makes it her own.
This was not Floor outside of her comfort zone, to be honest. She was very comfortable here. And the world is a better place because of it.

What I liked about Henk throughout this series is that he didn't just showed what his strong suit is, but that he really made an effort to get out of his comfort zone and tried stuff. That growl was definitely not the original phantom. He also said he had never sang it like this, I think he enjoyed himself immensely.
Floor also, but she's just comfortable singing anything! Whatever genre or language she does it like she does it all the time. Always having that connection with the audience and again so much joy, so much (often contained) power like it's easy and that just brings emotions into any song. Love her so much! 😍😍😍

The last episode was totaly amazing! And this was the best ever ending of all seasons of 'Beste zangers'!!
Floor has now added more dates to her sell out tour in Holland early next year. Henke has now been added as a guest performer at the concerts. I have a ticket for Jan 24th in Groningen and can't wait :)

4:50 Henk added distortion, which is a huge no-no among opera singers (but of course sounds more "metal"). The first time he ever did that was when he sang "The Sound of Silence" to Floor (he sang the Disturbed version, and was very inspired by David Draiman, Disturbed's vocalist) :)
What I love most about this performance is that they looked like they were having so much fun and did not try to force into some mold created by expectations arising from previous performances by other singers. This was their interpretation, which seemed to be somewhere between classical, musical theatre and metal. :-) And it is great that they did not forget about the theatre aspect of it.
I loved how the band used drums to really accentuate the growing intensity of everything over there.
Henk´s voice is resonant and powerful and it fitted this performance very well. Menacing. Adding distortion on the top of it was a nice touch. I am sure he will keep on improving this technique.
Floor was really somewhere between classical and musical theatre in terms of technique. Drifting between them. Keeping it quite bright initially in this performance in comparision to Sierra Boggess, for instance. Sounding more innocent and frail, that is my impression.
I have to say that I was at the edge of my seat as I was watching the ending - not sure how she would approach it. I mean there is the "damned" E6 note. Would she try to reach it? --- No, and proved to be wiser as she went for a lower note (D6) and sustained it for long 7 seconds and some ms. And there was much more air compression that gave the sung note a different quality. She has done something very similar in Nightwish´s "Devil and The Deep, Dark Ocean". For this song, she had to work on prolonging it as long as possible. It was very impressive and a better choice, at least, in my opinion. Thank you, Valerie, and have a great day. :-)
Both are perfection, Their interpretation and their chemistry are amazing. I love the way Henk to push Floor to reach the last high note, this is one of the best duet I've ever seen. By the way nice reaction coach, thank you.
Does that mean every time that song is sung, you think the "sing for me, Christine! " is the best of all time? You act like they created the whole egging on part with the "sing for me Christine!", Which is said over and over. That's what every phantom does on this song. That's not something Henk and floor came up with.

This song has rapidly become my favorite. There's such emotion and passion and talent in both these singers. They don't just sing it, they embody the song.
I laughed out loud when you mentioned Beauty and the Beast, as Henk actually did the voice of Gaston in the Dutch version of Disneys Beauty and the Beast.
So, just if others didn't mention it already: Henk WAS the phantom in the Dutch version of the musical. That's one reason Floor wished to sing this duet with him

I think it's been established over the weeks that Henk and Floor are on a level beyond the others, but Samantha and Emma have given us moments of greatness as well. To be honest, I didn't think much of Emma in the beginning, (TH-cam phenomenon you know...), but damn, wasn't she just full of surprises ? And what greater compliment could she get than Henk picking her for his duet ? You absolutely must check that out, it's bloody awesome ! Little Emma singing up to Henk and nailing it too. Well the world is full of wonders, isn't it :)

Fun fact about this performance. When they went up for thier performance, it began raining cats and dogs and thunder in the background. Almost the tent blew away. Jan the presentor closed the show very quick and they ran inside. It gave the performance more body.

Henk will perform tjis song with Floor and Nightwish next year in amsterdam. He said, he won't do this song with her without performing with her again at a Nightwish concert. And he joins her solo Tour
heard a this version reacted to before, but didn't know Henk did was the Phantom before, brings an other element to it. Think he adjusted quite a bit to the Nightwish version, and love it. Another great reaction, tnx...

There is a song which two other singers did a couple of years ago! Tania Kros (opera singer) and Tommie Christiaan (musical performer), they did a duet and it's one of my favorite duets ever. They did Barcelona (originally sung by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé). I'd love to hear your reaction about this performance. :)

Hear tarja sing the song...and you will realise that there are higher notes on the stratosphere!!! Floor is incredible but she cant catch the high note of the song, so she did it a little lower, but ok she s still an awsome singer by using her voice in so many different ways, softly, hardly, by singing ballads, heavy metal, opera etc. It s not necessary to sing so high and to compare her singing with other singers, cause she s so talented and unique!
@@anniath4245 Well, Floor is known to be able to sing F3, so even higher than this D6. But I think she wanted to fit this note into the rocky style of the interpretation. Or maybe she wanted to stay on the safe side as she wanted a vibrato and some length in it..

also, love how Henk played the part, knowing it isn't natural for him. but thats the beauty of it, when singers are willing to try new things, and i guess the show brought it out of all of them!
This performance took my breath away.

But to see that you should watch the entire episode. When Floor and Henk went to their place and the band wanted to use the music, it also thundered.
It was still exciting that the tent cloth held the water through it in various places.

What I found fascinating on the episode, though, is right before the song really started. Jan is talking, but behind him you see Henk walking to the platform. He was already in character there, you can see it in his posture.

You can clearly see Henk hase become a massive Floor fan.
So he never distorted before this show, but how fast has he made it a feature to enhance his perfloormance ;-)
And he said it again this show. Good music is good music. And flippin hummingbirds was there some good music this season.
interview with Tim Akkerman (sings with Floor "Shallow") He said "Almost nobody knew Floor in the Netherlands now everbody nows it, but with the performance with Floor we also get questions from around the world who are those people, so it has an effect ,visa versa,as an example after Floor sang my song "Winner" internet exploded, everyone around the world wanted to know who I am, but that also counts for the rest of the Singers.
The great thing about "Beste Zangers" is that the musicians are free how they want to make a song sound and then you get sometimes surprises that you do not expect, that is the power of the "Beste Zangers".And to think that all participants are a few meters away so their experience comes in like a sledgehammer
Fun fact: Henk was Andrew Lloyd Webber's favorite Phantom of the Opera :D Can see why, what a artist.
Here it is in a nutshell: Floor can do anything Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, Adele, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katie Perry, Patsy Cline or (ok, you get the idea) can do, and will usually do it better. Not one of them could even attempt what she does every time she performs with Nightwish.

Lucky they ended the show with this duet.. it would've been so unfair to all the others. Not taking anything away from the other duets as I found them rather enjoyable, but this one was out of this world.
Also, side note.. I must have heard this at least 30 times since it appeared on TH-cam, and every single time Henk comes in with the distortion, I get chills all over.
I'd also be curious to know where Henk would rank this performance compared to all the other times he's done it.

Watching de beste Zangers, and each singer shows he or she is so much more then you see at first sight, so many emotions, and tears because of all the beauty.
Most comments mention the singers, but what's a singer without a good band, and it has been a joy listening to the band.
Certainly when you know that a number of songs were compiled together with the band, who whispered idea's and gave their own swing to it.

this is not about, who is better, this is about pure joy, and how to put a spell on someone else by your performance.
Samantha, Emma, Rolf, Tim, Ruben, Floor and Henk, you're the best, i have listened the songs over and over again, and am so greateful for your music.
Phantom of the Opera was just pure magic between 2 characters.
About love was a fansatic song written by Ruben, and it touches the heart, Winner is wow written by Tim, sound of silence Henks way, amazing, and I can go on and on about every song.
I wonder how jan Smit as host experienced it.

I am not sure why anyone should watch a voice-teacher who does not know how a microphone works, but let me help you out...
You got a Blue Yeti there. It has many patterns, but for your content you should set it to cardioid-mode (second setting) and speak into the front of the microphone (with the logo) NOT SIDEWAYS! Check your own voice on your equipment and recording... dont they teach that in voice-teacher-school?
No, they do not teach mic technique as a voice major in college in the US. It's all about classical voice. Sound engineering is a separate degree.
@@VocalSplendorStudios Ok, welcome on the way to becoming TH-cam major then - there is also a software out there called "VoiceMeeter" with which you can check your microphone and listen to yourself before recording. With the equipment your using your voice should sound twice as clear and direct in your videos.

Valerie, thank you so much for your reactions and analyses, I enjoyed them very much. Of course I immediately subscribed. Floor actually did another duet earlier in the final episode. She sang "Shallow" again with Tim Akkerman in a different version. Will you please react to that as well?
So would it be fair to say this was fun? :-P For me I think that Henk and Emma had the duet of the night, their voices blended so well. But yeah, this was big and operatic and most of all fun.
The 27th of January Nightwish will release Phantom of the Opera with Floor and Henk singing.
They sang together with Nightwish at the Ziggo Dome, 27th and 28th of November 2022. In the Netherlands.
I have seen Nightwish 6 times and in my opinion, Floor is the best live singer on the planet
