This new Player series is a success for @fender Rosewood is back, rounded edges on the fretboard, Kluson tuners, new colors... It's really nice. The Ensenada factory has raised the bar. But they could take into account some small details that are not minor: The pickup covers, potentiometers and pickup selector look very similar to those of a '61 Strat, although it would have been nice to see a full mint green pickguard for the Strat and the other models. A "Player Plus II" series is likely to be released in the near future, which should include sculpting at the junction of the body and neck for all models.
The colors the return of Rosewood ! Gosh if I had a reason to I’d so purchase one but I’m not unhappy with my trusty Player Strat in Sonic Red I believe it was called!! It was a quickly discontinued color from the original run. I love it though! I don’t hate Pau Ferro and saved up a ton to get CS 69 pickups in mine. Well done Fender i’m sure that these will sell like absolute hotcakes given the return of Rosewood and if I had a reason to replace the one that I already have, I would certainly do so. The colors knock my brain loose wow!!❤❤❤ WELL DONE
This looks like a good series. It's vintage enough and just modern enough for the entry level into "Fender." It looks like the features are balanced so that you're not gassing for a vintage style guitar after buying modern, or vice versa.
I love my new player 2 tele. I traded in two guitars and 3 pedals for it. No regrets. I’ve been playing for 20 years and 4 years ago I got a squire tele bullet for $89 used. It’s my favorite guitar out of all of them. Then I upgraded to the player tele and it’s night and day. Still love my squier especially since I modded it but I love my new tele so much
The Player Plus has a neck with nicely rolled edges (also a 12 inch radius). I wonder if the Player 2 neck edges are similar now that they are rolled? The Player Plus neck is really nice to play.
@@edgarkleinmann7386 my first comment was delete haha. So again... Not much of a change.. vintage tuners, odd aging plastics and apart from the rosewood thats it. For more money.
The stat in Fiesta Red and It would be perfect to me. There is a limited edition for the Player Series 1 but it does not have the rosewood. I would love to see the Series 2 in Fiesta Red.
Looking forward to getting some of these in hand. Had noticed a marked drop in QC on the original player series guitars we've been getting in (especially the nut slots, had one that needed a new nut from the factory); the player II guitars shown here look better so far but I need to see them in person. Curious if the production line has changed at all with these.
We lefties got royally screwed with these releases - no offsets, only Strats and Teles with single coils and 3 colour options (and ugly yellow for Tele) and what's the most scandalous for me no lefty basses
I think you guys missed a key demographic in the "who would this be for" question. Mexican made fenders have always been workhorse guitars for people of all playing levels and experience. They work well in studio, live, for beginners to experts
I bought a Player I bass from Sweetwater and I hated the two tone neck. Gloss fingerboard and pale white satin back. Looks like it has a maple cap. I wish I had waited a year and got Player II, but I couldn’t tell in photos the neck was two tone.
Not sure why, but part of me wishes the neck for the new player II’s had 21 frets just like the vintage. I know they’re going for the modern architect, but damn. The first player series had fret. 😭
@@jonaskubr4081 It's awesome otherwise, a fine guitar, I am just being too picky here, and am thinking of getting RG5440C actually due to style I am going for, but it's just a advice to Fender TH-cam :), not something extremely important. Enjoy yours, it's beautiful.

There's a lot to like about this revamp series, but there's so many things to be disappointed about, too. I mean, when I saw the jazzmaster in this series, I was incredibly excited because having a modern spec Jazzmaster with these new features, a rosewood fretboard, satin neck, and those new colors all at this price point was a dream come true. Come to find that they removed the rhythm circuit.. the signiture feature of the Jazzmaster. And they gave the Jaguar and Mustang the same treatment. Why? They're taking what makes the guitars unique out of the guitars. I know they talked about it being "contemporary".. but they have all these new vintage features and left the basics of the models out. Also, the lack of left-handed models just sucks. Theres almost no left-handed models available on their site anymore. I'm not personally a lefty, but I have friends who are, and it annoys me to no end. The personal side of it for me is that I've REALLY wanted a proper Jazzmaster for a long time. But if I want the classic electronics setups, I either need to get a Squier or I have to break the bank and get a American Vintage series Jazzmaster. (nothing against Squier, I just prefer the Fender quality control and stuff) The Vintera II ones are okay, but have such limited finishes that I don't really like as much as many of Fender's others. They already did the stripped-down electronics with the American Performer series, and the American Proffesional would be worth the extra cash to get if the circuit wasn't completely replaced with the electronics for that line. I just want a basic Fender Jazzmaster with nice finishes at a the totally affordable price of this line. As this is the "entry level" to the Fender catalog, you'd think they would keep it classic and not mess with the formula. But again, that's my personal rant. I know many people don't care about the electronic compromises with these models, but I really just wish they would leave the affordable stuff without niche changes like this. I'm just glad they didn't mess with the formula on the basses. Rant over. I know Fender reads comments, because they leave likes on the ones that talk about how good everything is. But I've seen many comments on Fender's videos about this line with very similar concerns that aren't acknowledged at all. I hope they're reading these too.
Ive just put down a deposit on limited edition Player Strat with roasted maple neck finished in Fiesta red with CS Fat 50s in the bridge and neck and Fat 60s in the middle. Makes it rather unique. However I'm wondering if I should try and get one of these from the dealer ? Not sure what to do. Love the rosewood, which wasn't available and love vintage style tuners, have them on my 1982 and 1983 Fullerton made reissues. Would appreciate any comments if someone reads this. I know the pickups are great and the roasted maple are both highly appealing to me,
I lost count of how many times he talked about the neck tint and tuners, if it's on everything in the series, talk about other stuff! Pickup differences, body woods, anything other than the same 3 features
I have a 2024 stratocaster player and I think the neck is the same as on the player 2 because it says on the back made in ensenada, 70th Anniversary and serial number MXS#####. I don't know if the pickups are exactly the same though.
The player plus series is basically the modern take on these instruments - flatter radius, noiseless pick ups, etc. For a couple hundred more than these.
Agree. I think the Vintera is the vintage series and Player Plus is the modern series like you all said. The Player has been a mix of vintage and modern without too much of either. Trying to appeal to the widest audience by picking aspects of both I believe (?).
I live in the UK and have just watched Julian Lage demo a Telecaster Player 2 for Guitar Centre. He was playing a white one with rosewood board. This colour combination doesn't appear to be available in the UK. WHY!!!
So much empahsis on cosmetics. The good stuff, if done right, is rolled edges and satin poly neck finish. This gets them to where American Standards were, and there was nothing wrong with those guitars. The chambered Strats are intriguing, even if the reason is the weight of the ash they are using. These really do look good, and good value. Throw on a set of locking tuners and you should be ready to go.
