Honestly I disagree. Where GH3's hopo engine is still looser than GHM's Tap engine, it's still not very easy if you are doing it on console. I find the transition hard, plus the yellow strum, plus the orange wall, then Fast Solo B. With GH3 One you have to worry about the whole solo, with GHM you just have to worry about hitting FSA.
If I'm honest, I like the GH:M version better as it feels more accurate to the original. The extended sustains, the descending trips, the easier Fast Solo in general, the changed Bridges... It feels a lot better, if not easier to play than the GH3 version.
The hardest part of this song for me was waiting for the long intro to finish on GH3 while the GHM version cut it down more thankfully, definitely would love to see some GH2 vs SH comparions, Those are gonna be funny
I know for a fact that the GH2 and SH comparisons are gonna be tough considering that some songs were changed slightly from the original version in GH2. For example, “Heart-Shaped Box” has a much longer solo in GH2 than Smash Hits, and the same goes for “Message in a Bottle” (though in that case, it’s actually just a longer outro).
Another example of not changing too much, but changing enough to be a slightly better chart. And with no pun intended, this song is easily my number one song for all time favorite Guitar Hero track. Also something to note, I think the star power tracks are exactly the same for both charts.
5:49 is such a good change for accuracy. Listening closely those first four HOPO patterns are actually descending while the last two switch to ascending.
I'm not really good at the intro of this song, I struggle quite a bit with the fast triplets like that, but man the fact that LOR had it as HOPOs meant that I missed one, I missed them all. Then there is that random little strum note in the middle just to salt the wound.
That elbow strum just thrown into the middle of the GH3 chart of the solo is CRUEL. Not sure what Neversoft were thinking with that one. I don’t play Expert, but those extended sustains on Hard feel so much cooler to play.
5:49 Even in these days that i can complete that part, i still got Ptsd bc of my dependance of 100% Star Power of that infamous Kirk solo (just like this song was based on IWW bc of the intro, Kirk's solo gave me vietnam traumas, like the 1000 yards stare meme)
I love the little detail where the first 3 note chord only comes in when the main verse of the song gets heavier. It’s like a shit gets real moment when you first play it. Never heard the song prior to playing it on GH3 so the second the heavy bridge starts it definitely scared little young me. 🤘
This song is an example on why i think they should try to chart what a song sounds like is being played rather than focus on lead/rhythm guitar specifically. 1:34 looks more accurately charted in GH3 since they chart what it sounds like rather than whats actually played so GHM just looks like it is poorly charted.
As someone who has FC'd this in GH3 (third ever on PS3), I feel like it's a really tough call with the engine differences. The GHM chart is much more simplistic and fun to play, but boy do sliders make it hard as hell fully combo. Yes, GH3 is a much easier engine, but the fact that it's all ascends and you have to change anchors for every set of trips makes it a fucking nightmare. Strums in FSA doesn't make it much easier.
I can't stand those how those bend strums at 6:07 were charted after GH3. Not just here but in every other chart that has them (i.e. Kick Out the Jams, Master of Puppets).
I've always wondered why 1:34-1:48 is charted differently between the two games. Where one has you play James Hetfield's part, and the other Kirk Hammet's part (I think), I don't know which is which.
And I still find “harder” to FC One in GHM, you’re right, the sliders doesn’t help high skill players, feels like walking on a landmine hoping not to screw it up.
After so many years, I still cant hit FSA in gh3. My best combo has been to the last trips, but for some reason Im not even consistent at that so no reason to try full song fc
Honestly both are still my nightmare at the moment but at least on GH3 I know my misses are because my lack of skill, not like GHM where I miss because of the sliders just not registering
I definitely prefer the GH:M chart a lot more not only because it's not a bitch to play but because of it being more accurate. I suck at guitar really bad but the machine gun riff isn't supposed to be all 3 note chords, and the part at 5:45 shouldn't have a chord at the end. Also cool, my favorite song of all time
So I'm gonna guess the problem with slider notes is if you in any way ghost note a note that comes after the note you're trying to hit, because you don't have to hit the first note first like you do with hopos, it'll just go ahead and hit the note after if the window for it is close enough, locking you out of hitting the note you were trying to hit. Let's say you're playing something like a BYR triplet, you're anchoring R, and you release B fully before hitting the Y, that might register as hitting the R instead, and you'll miss the Y, which is some nonsense. If that's what the problem is, I think what I would do is change slider notes to just, if you miss, you don't need to strum to pick it back up. The drawback of that approach would be, if you just skipped a note in a pattern, you'd also be dinged for missing any notes you tried to hit during that first note's window.
Guitar hero 3 is just so much harder especially with the solo, who the hell decided that there should be a strum note in the middle of that? I hope that was a mistake, but yeah i remember getting through the Metallica expert chart before i got through the Hard chart from gh3 i wasn't as good back then tho obv
Next time try to launch both games at once and let's see how many songs are possible to complete in both games at the same time when guitar intputs go to two games
These are both being played by bots in this video to eliminate any inaccuracies and to give a good baseline score with all sustains held out fully and no star power used. Plus, no hyperspeed which I absolutely could not do if I was playing it myself.
“One” by Metallica but there’s Two
Two can be as bad as One.
...there's 3 now
I don't usually like extended sustains but they actually work really well in this song.
its a great song to get comfortable with them

39- 7:19 of 2 notes a 3 notes the rest of solo - 7:24
40- 7:24 The end solo of Green, Red & Yellow a Green, Yellow & Blue
The GH Metallica chart is a perfect example of easier to pass, but harder to full combo. Due to the ridiculous tap engine in GH Metallica.

imo ghm chart is easy compared to gh3
@@qiukcshro it's not really opinion based, the chart itself is scaled down so much. The engine thing however is debatable
@@andrewsrgt4879 Which is why I said in the first place that the Metallica chart is easier to pass, but harder to FC.

Ah this song. The epitone of the Friday night "who can get the farthest in the solo" challenge. Good times....good times.

Cool tune, difficult to FC on GH3
Also when the "Darkness Riff" hits it's just a try not to headbang challenge level impossible

Neversoft was just trying to be edgy for their first title
I'm going to play this song today on GH3.
Anyone else notice that the SP Phrase placements are exactly the same in both games?
possible they just copy pasted the GH3 chart, changed up a couple things and left the star power alone
I can’t be the only one who thinks One is overcharted as fuck on 3
Guess you could say this is the "One" we've all been waiting for.....
I'll see myself out

Kirk’s part in GHM, James’s part in GH3!

GHM has the better chart by a long shot
I think the GHM chart is harder especially the solo and it has the stupid slider notes but it doesn’t matter since this song is amazing
Two - Metallica
What is your version?
A) GH3
B) GHM

great song, one of the few super-hard Metallica song i've 5 starred on multiple instruments
Perfect Storm acting Intro song!

I’ve always hated the note the solos starts with on GH3, it’s so awkward.
Just I paused when I noticed it starts B,R then ascending triplet while the GH:M chart is just descending triplets. That would throw me off every time
I can actually play the 1st and 3rd solos on guitar and by god playing it in GHM is so much worse. Tapping is so god damn percise.
I've always wanted to see the lazy eye side by side comparison of rb2 and ghwt, do you plan to do that one day?
I could!
Always preferred ghm but gh3s holds a special place in the heart

Yep, you nailed it.
out of all the things to change, _removing_ sustain gaps has to be the weirdest
I still consider GHM to be the easier chart tbh
There is now a 3rd one
lol can you please teach me your method for the trips.
Its prefrence. I 5 starred 98 percent it on GHM. On GH 3 I could neverget past the solo without star power
Isn't the difference here more commonly know tho, at least as far HOPOs and Taps
