    I was wondered about using alcohol too because I don’t drink but upon further research, people typically consume more naturally occurring alcohol in fermented foods and ripe bananas then in a tincture that you will consume.

      This is a beautiful point and it will be something that I remember when I have students/clients who have similar questions about the alcohol consumption.
      Its such a small amount! You are correct. But I also think there is something to be said about intention behind the alcohol consumption. With tinctures, the intention is to help support and heal your body which I feel goes a long way towards your body accepting it. If that makes sense.

    I started making tinctures last year and just love it. However, its hard to find information on dosages. This year I made some nettle/dandelion tincture and some whole dandelion tinctures. I want to take them daily for maintenance but can't find how much to take on a daily basis. I'm also hoping to make more tinctures as the summer goes on, such as Nasturtium and others. I'm hoping I can find dosages for each and exactly what all they will do for my body. I enjoyed your video. Thanks

    How long can you leave the dandelion roots in there for a vodka tincture? I didn't realize straining the tincture was a thing and mine has been sitting all together for 2 years, the roots are kind of brown but I have that layer of inulin in the bottom.

    • @SpiraeaHerbs
      @SpiraeaHerbs  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Your tincture is perfectly fine. I honestly don't press mine until I need them. I have some tinctures that are over 6 years old. Once I press them, I like to use them up within a year. The inulin on the bottom is natural and expected. :)

      86 grams of fresh root and then fill the jar up with alcohol (this is for a 500ml jar).
      As for the proof, that depends on who you ask, but I use a universal menstruum of 30% alcohol and 10% vegetable grade glycerin and it works for most herbs.
