One of the most informative videos I have came across on your channel. You covered everything from knot, line, rod, reel, technique, and most important emphasize practice, practice, practice.
Hello my friend...I'm saving the video for future uses. This is the video I have been waiting on. you're a true sportsman my friend thank you so much for this tip of the day. I was sold when I seen you hook the first bass out of that small brush in the lake. TFS
Great video Gene! I always wondered about the punch stops if they were re-usable or not. Wasnt sure if i was doing something wrong. I got my answer now. Thanks
way cool tips in this video man, the Snell knot tips were excellent. Also good tips on the compact yet bulky baits for digging through tight cover. this was one of your more informative videos bro, learned me some new ideas.
Awesome video! I've got to thank you for doing these videos, it's always great to see someone with a love for fishing that strives to share it and help others gain it. Awesome!
You're legit man!! I Watch your videos all the time. It amazes me that you have all this knowledge when it comes to fishing. And I never fail to learn something new. I appreciate all your time and effort you put into your videos, again I appreciate it and I'm 100% positive that all your other viewers appreciate it too. Thanks man, you're awesome!!!
This comment is for everybody. If I don't respond to your comment it means that your setting won't let me. Please go watch this video so you can fix that. Thanks. th-cam.com/video/MP6NeUHqm6M/w-d-xo.html If that doesn't work then please change your TH-cam settings.
I really enjoyed that. You've got a great talent for pitching. I'd love to know some of your best tournaments and if u ever fished with or against any top pros.
I was sitting there wondering how youre able to spend so much time fishing and gain so much knowledge and then I noticed your not wearing a wedding ring... Enough said
Hey gene. Try Daiwa samurai braid. It is amazing hands down. All of my reels had power pro and I just switched all of them to Daiwa samurai braid and Daiwa boat braid. It's 16 strands and smoother than power pro super slick and it has no coating. It's more expensive but it's worth the money
I am fishing in a slow moving river about 14feet deep. The water is stained. The river has bass, walleye and muskie. I am interested in catching bass. What should i use and how?
Quick question. Wouldn't coloring your line black make it more visible the same way darker soft plastics are more visible in stained to muddy water? I trust you just trying to understand. Thanks
Hey Gene I'm in the market for a broom stick, I'm a huge fan of 13 fishing omen black and all my other rods are the omen black. I read for a flipping/pitching/frogging rod you don't want a cork handle because it'll get wet and slippery. I was curious if you've had this issue and also do you think a 7'4 is long enough to get those bass out of thick cover?
+Ethan Thompson This time of year I'm going to mostly cover water with moving baits but if I come up to some cover I'm going to switch to soft plastics.
the saying is : worry about getting the fish first, after you get him then worry about getting him out. The other saying is if your not losing tackle then your not fishing.
Hey gene I've been meaning to ask. What are the most evident differences (other than the price lol) when using a tungsten weight rather than a cheaper lead one. Thanks!
Hey man, quick question, in your flipping and pitching video you mentioned you usually use 20 pound flourcarbon, and now you say 60 pound braid, I would like to know what makes you change your mind, so I can take in consideration, thanks and good fishing!
i have been thinking about getting a new flipping and pitching rod and i was debating whether to use braid or mono, because i heard that braid can damage your guides, is this true?
I have you seen the old Doug Hannon "Big Bass" videos??? He would Sharpie his Clear line with a Green marker and his Green line with a Blue marker... Not just Black, but what you did is way easier!!! Since Dr Hannon would color his line bye starting with the whole spool of Line... Ohhh, and a BIG WArrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Damn Eagle!!! Hey!!! If you need tickets down here, Hummm???
+Flukemaster You should do a Q and A off of your social media sites to. I am so thankful that you have a well rounded fishing channel. Me and my 13 year old watch all your vids. I hope your channel continues to grow and you can make a very good living on doing what you love and are very good at. God Bless
Out of curiosity, have you tried the Missile D Bomb? Very similar to the D Stroyer you weren't crazy about due to all the appendages. Love these videos!
Hey, gene i don't know if you have ever used sunline fx2 but that stuff will keep its color for months and months, its expensive but you barely ever have to change it. i know you already have the braid you like but i figured i would share that.
+Tanner Virden pretty clear water...been using spinner baits...crank baits..senko...jigs..there's some Lilly pad cover in areas...most of the lake is pretty wide open..some spots of tree cover... mostly green pumpkin and watermelon colors I'm using
+Flukemaster ok...haven't had any rain around here I a while...supposed to rain alot the next two days maybe that will help cause all the lakes around here are way below normal
You use a black lure because its easier to see in dark water... But then you color the line black to make it more difficult to see? Seems counter intuitive... I know that is the prevailing wisdom, but I don't get it. Also is there going to be a Johns Surprise part 2?
why dont you snell the knot all the time. you use the same sinkers for Texas Rig and several other rigs. why not use the snail not all the time instead of the improved aclinch knot. I do notice when I tie on a Texas Rig my bullet weight seems to set on top of the not. it's always seemed risky to me but that's the way I've always seen it done. does the knot not get damaged when you're dragging a Texas Rig?
Now I understand certain things that I was wondering but were never put in video before. Also, how much did you pay that fish? It is a great actor. lol!
+Flukemaster That's so sad....can't believe I didn't realize that. I watched your video about that a long time ago, and I thought I had changed my settings. :(

Great video Gene! I always wondered about the punch stops if they were re-usable or not. Wasnt sure if i was doing something wrong. I got my answer now. Thanks
+Guess Who Cool. Glad I could help
Thankyou very much... Mr gene have a nice evening
Great Work as always Gene !
+Bass Amateur 99 Thanks
You had some great tips there. I'll have to apply them next time I'm out on the water.
+The Fishing Experiment Thanks
good video, thanks for sharing
those snips are legit.
+Bruce Millard They are good. I'll do a review of them one day.
way cool tips in this video man, the Snell knot tips were excellent. Also good tips on the compact yet bulky baits for digging through tight cover. this was one of your more informative videos bro, learned me some new ideas.
+Harry Timmons Thanks Harry
Really enjoyed it !! You are by far my favorite bass fishermen to watch.
Awesome video! I've got to thank you for doing these videos, it's always great to see someone with a love for fishing that strives to share it and help others gain it. Awesome!
+Corey Green Thanks Corey.
That was actually a Mustad Denny Brauer Grip Pin Maxx hook. The best flipping hook of all time!
+Josh McLean I always screw that up. I don't think I'm on the list for a Mustad sponsorship. lol

+TackleJunky81 Thanks Jim
Another great video! I learned a lot and hopefully it can help me improve my videos!
+Bass All Day Thanks man
thanks for the tip
+Daniel Ro You're welcome Daniel
I really enjoyed that. You've got a great talent for pitching. I'd love to know some of your best tournaments and if u ever fished with or against any top pros.
+Joe Brann Thanks. I had to practice for years to get that way. I don't fish tournaments.
I like your boat
I was sitting there wondering how youre able to spend so much time fishing and gain so much knowledge and then I noticed your not wearing a wedding ring... Enough said
I’ve been married for almost 19 yeas and have four kids. Rings bug the crap out of me.
Hey gene. Try Daiwa samurai braid. It is amazing hands down. All of my reels had power pro and I just switched all of them to Daiwa samurai braid and Daiwa boat braid. It's 16 strands and smoother than power pro super slick and it has no coating. It's more expensive but it's worth the money
+Tanner Virden Cool.
Awsome video do you think you could maybe make a couple videos with your favourite smallmouth baits?
+Jacob Rivet I don't have smallmouth in my area. In fact I think I've only caught 5 smallmouth my entire life.
+Flukemaster oh k I live in northern oration Canada and we only got smalllies . Sometime I want to go down south and catch my first largemouth
Please film a video about fishing lakes that have large amounts of submerged trees. (Lake Russel and similar lakes)
+bassmasher99 I'll try
Hi fluke, I was wondering if you are going to do a tutorial with top water hard baits like poppers, spooks, or jerk baits? Thanks!
+PvMPredator I've done one on Spooks and jerkbaits.
Can you do a tackle box review?
+Garrett Howell That's tough. My tackle box is 18ft long and has a 115 horse power motor on the back.
+Flukemaster HA
+Flukemaster that's funny
+Flukemaster Is that the MTB extra double pro? How much does it cost haha?
+Kyle Bumgardner 9.99$ extra a month for the probox
Please do a video of how to fish in heavy hydrilla
+Matt Jones Go watch my punching video that I posted a few weeks ago.
+Flukemaster thanks very informative and I appreciate the videos, good luck!
I have always wondered if this works on perch
+SthlmSigge I would think so. Maybe just with smaller baits
+SthlmSigge It should
THANKS FOR THE INFO
Have you ever used a jika rig for pitching to trees and bushes?
+wartmanrp Nope
I am fishing in a slow moving river about 14feet deep. The water is stained. The river has bass, walleye and muskie. I am interested in catching bass. What should i use and how?
ive been using the ville craw alot recanty and its geting some hogs
+Thurston Abcde21 Cool. Keep it up
Quick question. Wouldn't coloring your line black make it more visible the same way darker soft plastics are more visible in stained to muddy water? I trust you just trying to understand. Thanks

I was curious if you've had this issue and also do you think a 7'4 is long enough to get those bass out of thick cover?
great video! can you compare the sensitivity of the rod your using to other common rods and weight possibly?
+spook2fluke It is a 100 dollar rod. It has the sensitivity of a 200 dollar rod.
+Flukemaster okay, thanks!
What's a reasonable price range for a bait-caster reel and what is a good, and cheap bait-caster reel?
+Jerry smith I recently bought a Abu Garcia Revo it was my first baitcaster. Love it it was 170$ CDN though
I started on the Abu Garcia pro Max for like 80$
+Jerry smith 80 to 120 will get you one that will last you for a few years.
i had the Abu Garcia Black max combo for my first baitcast setup and loved it, just baby it and learn to clean it and it will last a couple years
Logan Craven yeah. That's going to be key.
Know of any good maintenance videos?
12mins 12sec bass moving on the surface?
+adam curtis Are you sure it's was a bass?.... Just sayin.
Mr Gene is it better to use moving baits or softplastics on a moving day
+Ethan Thompson This time of year I'm going to mostly cover water with moving baits but if I come up to some cover I'm going to switch to soft plastics.
what is the best all around baitcast tod and reel
i dont have that much moving baits so im just trying to figure out what to pick up ...
+Ethan Thompson a White and chartreuse (yellow) Spinnerbait and a lipless crankbait in chrome with a black back.
When you spoil braid do you use filler line?
Wonder why they don't make black colored braid?
some companies do.
What is the best moving bait to use ... Mr gene
+Ethan Thompson The one the bass wants. You have to try different things until they let you know what they want. That's the fun part of bass fishing.
Does the sharpie add any effect on the scent with the bites because it has such a strong smell???
+Hunter Chevaillier It might.
Can the fish not smell the strong stench of sharpie coming off of the line?
+bassmasher99 Not that I've noticed.
the saying is : worry about getting the fish first, after you get him then worry about getting him out.
The other saying is if your not losing tackle then your not fishing.
What kind of spinnerbait is best
+Ethan Thompson I don't know. I let the bass tell me that.
Gene I have some Carolina keepers. Can I use those instead of bobber stops"..
+Greg Francescon Nope. They will get hung up
Hey gene I've been meaning to ask. What are the most evident differences (other than the price lol) when using a tungsten weight rather than a cheaper lead one. Thanks!
+Thomas Rhim You feel everything. They increase the sensitivity of your setup more than anything else that you can change. (rod, line, anything)
+Flukemaster no wonder they cost so much ! Haha thanks !
what's one of your craziest fishing stories
+Chris Prozor I really don't have one. I over think and over plan and over prepare so crazy just doesn't happen.
+Barret Lowrey It will damage guides on cheep rods. Most rods from the 50 dollar range on up will be just fine.
+Flukemaster thanks for the advice. Btw love your channel
did you dip the bait in the magic stuff
+Javier Cruz I always put some clear JJ's Magic in the bags of soft plastics.
+matt mac LOL. Thanks Matt
about to hit that 100,000 fluke
+Kevin Hagy Pretty close. Putting a huge giveaway together for it.
I see some braid and I want it markered black....
He does with a sharpie
+Blazinxtreme ah, i see that now haha
Hey, gene i don't know if you have ever used sunline fx2 but that stuff will keep its color for months and months, its expensive but you barely ever have to change it. i know you already have the braid you like but i figured i would share that.
+Richard Griswold I've never tried it but I've heard good things about it. It's just out of my price range.
+Flukemaster oh ok, yeah thats the only bad thing about sunline. Great vid and thanks for responding.
just out of curiosity what is that plastic thing on the lanyard around your neck is that your Mic?
It's the remote control for the camera in the back of the boat.
Was this at the hill??
+Bubba Koss Yep
+Flukemaster Awesome!!
Where do you fish?
I'm getting skunked this fall...can't catch anything! it's killing me...on lakes I killed all summer!
What stuff are you using? What's the water clarity, how deep do you fish, what kind of bait is there and what kind of cover do you fish?
+Tanner Virden pretty clear water...been using spinner baits...crank baits..senko...jigs..there's some Lilly pad cover in areas...most of the lake is pretty wide open..some spots of tree cover... mostly green pumpkin and watermelon colors I'm using
+lendog Change the speeds that you are fishing them. Be more erratic.
+Flukemaster ok...haven't had any rain around here I a while...supposed to rain alot the next two days maybe that will help cause all the lakes around here are way below normal
+Flukemaster my 6 year old is catching perch laughing at me lol
So why don't you use split shot weights so you don't have to peg the bullet weight. Are they not heavy enough or what? Just curious. Good vid btw
They get snagged more
kushcrumbleshatter1990 thanks ill try that.
puts some MAN on it!!
+Randy Nunez LOL
Big game this weekend, Go Gators! Please don't ban me haha. Love your vids even though you are a Georgia fan :p
+packers125221 Don't tempt me
Can you please look at my set of questions in your giveaway video please? I can't enter the raffle because of some issues.
Make a knot tying video
+Samuel van Zyverden I already have a couple of them.
i got a war eagle chartreuse
First

+aj06bolt12r You have a good point.
Green sharpie revives the original color of the braid if you're worried about them seeing it.
why dont you snell the knot all the time. you use the same sinkers for Texas Rig and several other rigs. why not use the snail not all the time instead of the improved aclinch knot. +Flukemaster were can you get a flukemaster shirt lol
+Alex Nulter Sorry, Click on the little "i" in the top right hand corner of the video.
+Flukemaster oh sweet! gotta get a hat haha
And totally not fair to write the first comment on your own video.....
+Kyle Bumgardner Yay!!!!!! Dude you always comment on my videos and it drives me nuts not being able to respond.
+Flukemaster That's so sad....can't believe I didn't realize that. I watched your video about that a long time ago, and I thought I had changed my settings. :(
haha i love the first comment
+thomas sauer LOL. Thanks

the new Flukemaster slogan...."put your man pants on!"
+The UnProfessional Fisherman LOL. I love it.

Nothing says you can't. I just don't do it with every type of hook. I guess it's a confidence thing.
