The movie made NWA look like a trio with Ren and Yella being backup dancers.

+Vinmoonsu Ren also wrote some of the songs on Straight Outta Compton. And everyone said that Cube wrote everyone's lyrics, even though it was just Dre and Eazy that he wrote for. No diss to cube though.

I hate how they made Eazy e look like a punk. For startes he didn't get beat up or even touched by suge knight. They wouldn't dare or someone would be killed. and he was never broke. he always had money and he had a lot more rappers with him, rapping with him after dre and cube left. It looked like it was just yella ren and him in the end not knowing what to do.
Bg Knocc Out and Layzie Bone already cleared up what happen with that contract meeting...What really happened, Dre set up a meeting with Eazy to discuss his contract...When Eazy got there, Suge and a few of his boys was in there with baseball bats and shit to Intimidate E into releasing Dre...They never did jump Eazy, but he gave Suge a fake signature which is why Eazy E was still gettin paid off of Dre when he left...He outsmarted Dre and Suge

You got your story twisted... Knocc Out and everyone else said DRE set Eazy up to meet with Suge but no one actually touched him. Dudes came out with guns and bats then they threatened him and his family.. Knocc Out literally says "Nah, hell nah.. They didn't touch him.. Nah, not at all.." When asked if Eazy got beat up lol
Peace to M.C Ren. He always was nice with his pen. He was out-shadowed by the other members personal issues and drama. Besides Eazy-E , M.C Ren was my favorite member.
That movie was nothing more than hype to make Cube and Dre look like gangsters.

Yeah this would have a been a great Netflix Series where they could have done like a 10-12 episode of what happened to the group in more detail, give guys like MC Ren & DJ Yella more relevance and screentime, and dive in deeper to the real world stuff going on around NWA then.

The reason why Dr. Dre left out "Real Muthaphuckkin G's" in the movie is because his feelings is still hurt by it.

I agree Dapp. Cube probably felt that someone would probably be feeling some type of way and take off on him. Same with Dre. These guys went hard on Eazy and they probably feared retaliation though the beef was sqaushed. Everyone didn't know it was sqaushed. And some dudes get some drank in them and just wanna start crap anyways so I could see it going down hill.
But Ren?? I don't get it. I can believe he didn't wanna see Eric like that....but not those other two.

Lack of exposure to MC Ren in the movie. True fans know Ren's role in the group as far as lyrics are concerned, don't let Dre and Cube fool you about Ren's contribution to the group.
If it ain't ruff has cemented Ren's place as a master lyricist of the group...
Hopefully the Director's Cut IS like 3 1/2 hrs or so.

Dang, Ren. They treated you like a redheaded stepchild. As soon as the movie ended, I said *dag I didn't learn anything about Ren and Yella*. At least they could've shown you making that first album. I had to go back and rediscover it and every single beat knocked. #anditsstillallgood

I lost interest in watching the film after knowing that so much of it was made up bullshit. I don't care HOW entertaining a movie is, if it is supposed to represent a TRUE story, then it needs to be ACCURATE.

Young kids who don't know who Paris is (since Ren mentioned him..) you needs to go check all his old albums. Underrated as fuck. Beats were fire. Flow was fire. Content was fire.

I can't fault anybody who doesn't go to a funeral for somebody close. I myself can't look at somebody I love like that. Even in the movie Cube said to Dre I can't go in, I can't see him like that. I need to hear his voice. I feel him 100%. It takes a lot to do that.

Yeah I sorta felt that way when I saw they dedicated the movie to him at the end, but they left out Real Muthphukkin' Gs and how successful that was - even if he had bills. Plus if E was making a percentage off Dre, I'm not sure he would have been crying cuz The Chronic was successful.

For you young cats that didn't know, before Cube left, Ren was neck and neck with Cube when NWA was together. I remember I said to several people that Cube was better than Ren back in the days and they laughed at me, no lie they laughed at me! So back in 88-89 Ren was seen as the most important member of the group outside of Eazy.

MC Ren is my favorite of the bunch, honestly I'd say he's the best of all 5, as well. I think that Eazy, Cube and Dre overshadowed him because of the beef between them. But he was and still is dope, man, and y'all can't deny it. He was so talented, to the point it hurts me seeing Dre and Cube be so successful and make millions and billions of dollars, while Ren is doing interviews via cell phone.
+TheUltimateMilanFan Well, you're right however keep in mind the entertainment business is INSANELY cut throat. And some people just aren't built like that. In that business you have to be firing at ALL times and making good decisions, hiring good people, moving VERY fast. If you don't you can easily slip between the cracks. Dre's song "All In a Days Work" is the truth. You sacrifice personal time, time with family, vacation time, you have to cut things loose you dont necesaarily want to, the pressure is REAL heavy.
Maybe Ren decided to focus on his family, so being a star and chasing what Dre and Cube have been chasing wasnt as important to him.
Just suggesting that we don't assume he's a victim in all this, he may not have wanted that lifestyle.
That's right, he moved to Palm Springs with his wife and four kids to be closer to his parents. He was even offered a major label deal worth one million dollar after the Up In Some Tour, but declined it.

Actually I got the pleasure of interviewing Jerry several years ago and the guy who played him in the movie was very accurate. As a matter of fact for a split second I thought Jerry was playing himself in the movie! lol

niggaz4life was especially different because the group had more tracks. They had the computer which tripled track count-- literally hundreds of stereo tracks. Previous albums were 32 tracks, 48 tracks maximum on the reel to reel.
Quiet on the set ....dopest NWA song to me cos it proved to NY that LA could MC wit the best of them....MC ren was alway my favourite from NWA , obviously Cube was dope but it was he's look and image that captured ppls attention more .
