I recently bought the TwoLittleFishies phosban / gfo reactor. Thing is a beast, solved my phosphate issues in less than 4 hours. Also that fighting conch is huge!
I have both bioreactors and am running them in freshwater Waterbox aquariums. Both are planted tanks with nano fish. The Aquamaxx is better but only after a hack. Aquamaxx is built better as I cracked the Innovative Marine as I was tightening it to the its holder. The Aquamaxx comes with a magnet which is crazy strong and comes with a better pump. The Aquamaxx comes with a Sicce pump. The IM pump died on me within a few months. The replacement pump (given to me freely) died on me too. When I contacted IM, they basically told me to beat it. Marine Depot provided the replacement. The replacement pump from IM is 30 dollars. I bought a Sicc pump and superglued the 1/4" connector neck to the unit. The Sicce replacement pump can slide off it for maintenance. The IM is better at dialing in the tumble you want for your biopellets. I use TL Reefs biopellets, You will never be able to open the bottom of the IM to clean the gunk that accumulates in the bottom of the IM unlike the Aquamaxx. Here is the hack with the Aquamaxx. At the bottom of the cylinder of the Aquamaxx, is a black piece of plastic that has a flat-head notch in it. You can use a long flat head screw driver to unscrew it and access that compartment for cleaning. The Aquamaxx gives you two pieces of foam, take one and cut/rip a hole so the black flat head plastic screw can be inserted into it. Then reassemble it all together. Now you have more control for the biopellet tumble. Too fast and you eat up the media. To slow and it does nothing at all. Don't listen to this guy who wanted a better unboxing experience because if you're watching this, you want to keep your tank happy and health. I just can't stand by hearing him talk about the quality of the plastic or the non mirror finish of it. No one cares about that. Aquamaxx is better, better pump, less parts (less points of failure), access to bottom compartment, magnet holder and built in cable management. IM- better out of the box control of media tumble, awful pump, gets dirtier. So its up to you, but for someone that is running both, I would go Aquamaxx + hack than IM.
Microbacter7 will work great for you. Follow the instructions for the high nutrient system for 2 weeks then switch to once weekly. Will outcompete the Dino(will take time) and keep your system stable!
I had a similar issue as your tank my friend and I started dosing MicroBacter 7 and MicroBacter Clean daily and within 2 weeks I started seeing a massive change in the cyano and dino they started going away my rocks and sandbed started to get clean again.. you do have to turn off your skimmer for about 4 hours after dosing these products
I have a circus goby they sleep on the sand somewhat under a small layer just enough to see his eyes. 👁. Great personality but take longer time to get around and adjust to tank
I got very tired, very quickly of taking out reactors to refill. I just purchased and installed the single chamber black carbon reactor from BRS. I think this one is going to be the best for growing into as well as longevity. Plus I didn’t have to stick it in my sump.
Have you read the Esox guide to beating dinos on Ultimate Reef? I was trying to beat them for months, I followed his guide to the T and they were gone in 2 weeks and so far they have stayed gone. It involves a lot of cleaning, bubble scrubbing and then using a dark period to upset them followed by a lot of phyto and copepods to clean up the rest.
I have not heard of this guide, I will check it out, thank you! I have a micro bubble scrubbing set up but haven’t put it on a schedule yet. Any advice?
@@InappropriateReefer I can only suggest to read the guide but basically it involves a lot of cleaning with a siphon, tooth brush and turkey baster with bubble scubbing. This removes dead dinos which live dinos and cyano is feeding from. Next step is a dark period to knock back any live dinos then you get as many copepods as you can to clean up and phyto to support their numbers and also compete in the water column against the cyano and dinos. It worked flawlessly for me, my tanks never been as clean. It's worth at least reading, I know you have tried a few things up to now but this is the first guide that an actual marine biologist has written for the hobby.
Do you know if the conchs eat copepods? I kinda of want to add 1 to my tank, but I have a pair of ruby dragonets and I want to limit as much food competition as possible
As you said, that reactor is too small for you tank. The included pumps are also terrible quality and you will have to constantly clean it out as it clogs up really easily. I bought a small UV made by IM a while back and the pump cable frayed apart and was dumping AC into my tank after just a few months. I would suggest the BRS deluxe reactor kit with the Sicce pump for your GFO and use one of those for carbon for a while. I've had the BRS reactor for a long time and highly recommend it!
I most likely will once PO4 (and NO3) is back in check; I typically have detectable PO4 but bottomed out NO3, so likely I’d set up auto dosing for NO3 !
CIRCUS 🎪 GOBY!!! Awesome dude, I’ve had mine for a year. It eats flakes, small pellets and brine shrimp, pretty much anything or it dies!!! 😂 another dopea$$ goby, FLAMING PRAWN GOBY, now that one is an awesome goby. Good luck and yeah you’ll probably never see it in that tank, lol, but if you don’t find it’s carcass, it’ll be hiding in there somewhere. ✊🏾 be safe.... ✌🏽 SAS!!!
My innovative marine media reactor is useless. When I twist it to adjust the flow it is totally unresponsive on top of that even when I have it on the strongest setting it losses all its power within a day to the point where the gfo doesn’t even tumble.
I had the old school BRS one (not Delux); since I don’t have a wood stand to screw the reactor into, I’d sink it into the sump.. I thought hanging or magnetic mounting it to the side of the sump would be cleaner but I may change my mind, let me take a look, thanks for the recommendation!
Good idea, I’d try it. If I remember right the magnetic mount is on the media tube, so the pump would stay in the sump. Now I’d have to pick between routing wire or wet hand... 😆 #firstworldproblemgr
I feel that package design is a part of the unboxing experience and I appreciate the thoughts that go into it. Yes sir, there are aspects of me that is shallow, just hope that I have enough depth in other areas. 🥲
Sorry 😅, I probably mentioned similar things at different points, meant to only keep one or two mentions in editing depending on which flow best, but I didn’t get to vet this video much so there could have been repeats. 🙏
That goby is the nicest goby I’ve seen , gotta call him goby1 canobi, great choice , gobys n blennys make the best pets
Wahaha amazing name! 😆
@@InappropriateReefer Your addicted to Gobies lol!

If you have room Nyos TORQ reactor should be a good choice, just a twist you can change you media. Love it!
Beautiful fish! The innovative marin is the same model like the aquamedic media reactor.?
Sorry I am not sure, quick google search pulls up something different? 🤔
@@InappropriateReefer i have a aquamedic that looks the same. I will send a photo to your insta later
Your background music in every video just softens the noise of the outside world 😊
Conchs kick ass I've one that even climbs the tank and does the back glass

My goby of two years died today and this video is helped me through that🥰
Really sorry to hear about your goby, especially since he has been with you 🙏
I vacuumed up the top layer of my substrate and that cured my dino problem.
The pump is easy to disconnect from that reactor. So you can disconnect the pump from the tube and remove the tube without having to unplug anything.
Microbacter7 will work great for you. Follow the instructions for the high nutrient system for 2 weeks then switch to once weekly. Will outcompete the Dino(will take time) and keep your system stable!
If you’re not using GFO you could use a media bag like a few others have suggested! That’s what I used with carbon when I used the aquamaxx reactor

I had the IM reactor and switched to the BRS mini after too many times of having media blow out into the display.
An aweome fish. I had one in the past. Very cryptic but will get braver after it settles in. 👍
I hope so! At least I see my White Dotted Goby every other morning during feeding time 😆
That circus goby is wicked! Thinking gobies may be the inhabitants of the Macro Shorelines.. another great video!
you should try a copper band, they are very picky but super cool, i just bought one today and its surprisingly already eating frozen
How is the Circus goby getting on now? I have a pair but they are very shy and keep to their cave all the time.
If you ran felt filter socks instead of no socks, it will help cut down on the detritus and algae amount
I use Two Little Fish 150 with a lifegard200 pump,I paid under a $100 for both. The two work great together.
Thank you, I will check them out too just so I know what’s out there

your hair at 10:08 remind me of dracoula and sins i play wow the venthyr ppl haha.
So do you believe that is this Purit a good midia to help with nitrate and phosphate?

Any word on the salty shirts? Still not coming up in store??
Weird let me look into this, thank you for bringing this up 🙏
@@InappropriateReefer thank you
What store did you get the conch’s from? I’ve been looking for one of each for a few weeks now.
I just got 2 sand conchs for my 125 - they kicked butt in the sand algae!
For dino try 3% H2O2 - it worked perfectly for me. Dosage: 5 ml per 100 liters. I used it for 7 days
Thanks! I tried H2O2 in the past and had success as well! 👍
Do you know if the conchs eat copepods? I kinda of want to add 1 to my tank, but I have a pair of ruby dragonets and I want to limit as much food competition as possible

Why don’t you set up a doser to dose to keep phosphate in check, I does mine and it’s a constant 0.09 which is perfect for my set up.

Interesting views of the 2 reactors 👍
I have that same Aquamaxx reactor... it works great.
The goby reminds me of lionfish, especially with the large fins
New subscriber !
Geez those mp40s are loud. I can hear them in the background. Lol
It may have been the Alkatronic doing a water test 🤔
Do you quarantine?
I don’t, I try to buy quarantined fish or at least use Safety Stop dip on them (good for external stuff)
THAT GOBY!😍
Use a media bag so you don’t have to remove the reactor and extra one
It looks like a tiny panther grouper😂
Maybe you should run them both?
Can definitely do that 👍

Sorry to hear that.. is your sponge getting clogged too quickly? (Based on the flow issue)
Yay
Get the BRS. I have the deluxe it's amazing, i had the innovative marine one before.

Should have gotten nyos torque i know its more money but the quality 👌
I’ll take a look!
What fish store was that?
Rick’s Fish and Pet Supply in Frederick MD
We didn't hear your instrumental at the end of this video ...
Switched out the music, did you miss the old one? 🥁
Can't you just remove the pump from the reactor to remove it without having to unplug it?

What up how is everything going
Dino receding 😉
Should just toss both reactors in there if you need more media rather than getting a bigger one!
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Who else came straight from Remmys video?!
I did too 😆👍🔥
@@InappropriateReefer you two are a start to my Sunday its tradition!

Let's just go ahead and get it.. The bane of reef keeping, people need to do their research rather than impulse purchases.
There is nothing wrong with .15 on your phosphate. Stop chasing it. Get more herbivores and let the tank settle
Try MICROBACTER7 !!!!!
That looks like a clown goby
Next time, please can you repeat everyting atleast 50x i think 20x like in this video isnt enough...
