- chapter 47 - Constant Head Permeability Test
The property of the soil which permits the water or any liquid to flow through it through its voids is called permeability. It is the ease with which water can flow through the soils.
Constant head method is suitable for coarse grained soils which are relatively more pervious because of their larger voids.

Really love this channel! Such detailed, visual lessons are hard to come by. Please keep making such amazing videos!!
the animations make it way easier to understand, I love it! thank you
This is the best channel for graphic representation of soil practicals, please upload more videos soon. I really appreciate your effort as it is very easy for a beginner to understand easily.
I love this channel .Every descriptions are well cleared .No any word useless..superb 👌👌👌👌.
Really love this channel! Such detailed, visual lessons are hard to come by. Please keep making such amazing videos!!
love from bangladesh
This is the best channel i cross by...Please upload more vdo sir
thanks. i graduated from youtube
Very detailed explanation with more information that includes basics also..Wat an explanation sir... Tqq so much sir..
Amazing presentation for such important subject.. I wish that our College have that kind of professors to explain such complex yet easy concept by such manner that you have done...
Wonderful teaching video
Way of explanation. With diagram is mindblowing
Great videos! Your channel has inspired me to start a channel for civil engineering, geology, and geotechnical engineering students.
I failed in semister only this subject soil mechanics after listening this theory and explanation I got more than pass marks thank you ❤ we hope u will get 1M sub... Very soon and thank you for this wonder ❤...!!!
❤ easy explanation tq sir
Thank you elementary engineering.. your explaination is amazing💖👌
Really ❤ a nice teaching sir❤
Your way of explanation is very good sir. Thankyou soomuch. I love this channel ❤️
please continue doing videos............................... we really love tis channel and appreciate what you are doing
This is channel will reach 1 million subscribers soon....
Sir your presentation is very good...this kind of presentation will be good for irrigation and hydrology as well....
Currently making a presentation explaining about the history and theory for coefficient of permeability, this is really helpful!
Really ur doing a great job. Keep doing .❤️❤️❤️ It's really helpful
Very neat and effective presentation 👍
Amazing sir you are best teacher in world
Great video Sir ,your explanation understand very easily
Thank you very much for your demonstration. Its quite interesting
LOVE THIS . SO SIMPLE
Thank u so much sir...
Ur videos are help full to us in this lockdown....
And I hope, you will reach 20k subscribers during this quarantine.😊
Appreciated your great work
Thank you sooo much sir
Really very very helpful 🙌
very nice sir.plz make more soil related videos for the welfair of all of us.
Always waiting for your videos
Amazing presentation.. Thanks.. I really need this👌❤
Very good precise video. Thank you
Thank you Sir for your valuable 💐🍫 and excellent 💯👍👏 explanation. I really thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤ for making such beautiful and interactive videos which make the subject really easy . Please keep up the good work 🍫and flow !!! 🙏💐🙏
Superb explanation test
Which software used to make this animation ?
Thank you. Great explanation.
Is there any method to find air permeability of muck pile of rock fragments?
Good video👍
Thank you 🔥👍
Thank you so much sir
thanks!
Ur explanation was too good sir
So for a landfill which method would you use to test? Falling or constant head?
Very helpful section to me.who ever studying last minutes in their examination. This is much useful to them 😅
Can you please explain why the final equation for permeability is in m/s instead of m^2 (darcy)? Thank you so much for your explanation!
it there is a permeameter filled with compacted clay, that has an inlet height and an outlet height which would I use? I am thinking falling head since the compacted clay has low permeability and the H varies, but it seems like there is a hydraulic gradient in both tests
Easy expln animations catalytic for comprehencebility yeoman service for civil engg subscribers i subscribed instantly and hit the all button thanks for our beloved speaker
Very good job sir
Thank you
VERY GOOD
very nice video! however, correct me if I'm wrong but with this test you effectively measure the vertical hydraulic conductivity correct? And if so, does simply rotating your initial sample by 90 degrees give you the horizontal conductivity?
Sir, when we fill the space between container and soil sample with impervious concrete, how the water will pass through it upto manometer??
I HAVE A DOUBT
i this video you calculated length L in verticle direction bcoz of vertcile flow but in previous video you calculated in horizontal direction both are fine but if water flows in 60degree to horizontal plane how to calculate the L length between two ponits, hortizontally or vetically?
u r a legend sir thank you
u r the legend.
Very nice...
Sir please add caption. It will helps to hearing impairment students.
Do all subjects
Sir ,i think k=(VL)/(T*A*delta H) . Becuse discharge is equals to volume by time taken ....
Sir plz upload more video, might u also got ample time as we have due to corona effect.
Why bottom(second manometer) water level is not at the same level as top manometer? My Intuition says it will be at the same level please correct me
I think the difference comes due to obstruction water faces in its path. But if we look at a pipe filled with only water, the head will be the same, if we ignore the gravitational effect(or the height difference is less).
Nice sir
The best
