Casually but conveniently mentions that she's never seen The Lord Of The Rings movies, and then, "Well golly gosh jeeze! Why, what ever will I watch next? Maybe y'all could come up with something! I do declare, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers." Wink, wink!
Extended is the only way.
I'd prefer to see her watch the saga in chonological order (i.e. the "Hobbit" movies first, given that Tolkien would've never written LOTR if not for his publishers wanting another Hobbit-centric story instead of what he'd already written for _The Silmarillion_ ), as she did with the Indiana Jones series.
Streetcar would require less talking and more listening and just reacting. I like that though.
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy I completely second this. No one ever gets it right. LOTR assumes that you've read the Hobbit, so why not watch it first. And, that way you really end with a grand finale!
@@zortic1 The BOOKS assume you've read the Hobbit, but the Hobbit movies assume you've seen LotR. Not saying that she shouldn't watch in that order, though. You are definitely correct that it would make the 6 films end on a high note.
“The Bikini!” Made me roar
Love these, great job!!
Too good haha! 😂😂😂
I literally laughed out loud at that comment.
She'd look great in it!
The first piece of advice that Carrie Fisher gave to Daisy Ridley was, "don't let them put you in the bikini". 😂
Threepio’s last line “Did you hear that?” in this movie is also his first line in A New Hope.
That’s the ONLY cohesive part of the entire trilogy. So so bad lol

It's like poetry it rhymes.
Well, you see, Palpatine was only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive...
Wait, wrong princess.
Yeah, they should have just gone through his pockets for loose change.
Well done 😂
Liar, Liar, Liiiiarrrr!!!!!
I love The Princess Bride
Have fun storming the castle!
There was enough alternate footage of Carrie Fisher from The Force Awakens, which allowed her to make one final appearance as Leia. They wrote lines around the footage to make it "fit" the story. She died days after Rogue One released in December 2016. The Last Jedi, the final Star Wars she was actually on set for, did not come out until a year later in December 2017. The fact that her scenes here are relatively seamless is pretty incredible considering this released in December 2019.
@@EdReedFan20 Thank Carrie's family for giving JJ and team their blessing to use that footage.
When they needed a body double, her daughter Billie Lourd took on the stunt double role.
@@SeanBlader Digital stand-in, rather.
"seamless" he says...
When Kylo says "Dad", and its so filled with emotion; he wants to say I love you, and Han just says "I know"
So good!
Fun details:
Kylo did what Anakin wanted to do, he saved someone he loved from death. Palpatine made him think it was a power with the dark side but it was with the ancient Jedi texts the whole time. One of my favourite aspects of this film.
Also the Wayfinder Kylo got at the start was Vader’s. He was on the same red fire planet that Anakin and Obi-Wan had their duel in Revenge of the Sith, the planet Mustafar. There were two Sith wayfinders just like two Sith at a time, a master and apprentice, so one wayfinder was Palpatine’s in his death star throne room and the other was Vader’s.
Lastly, Rey buried the sabers at the Lars home where Anakin buried his mother too so that was a nice touch.
By the way the Jedi voices you hear are Anakin (“bring back the Balance, Rey. As I did.”), Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Mace Windu, Yoda, Luke, Ahsoka Tano, Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, Adi Galia (all four are from The Clone Wars animated series) and Kanan Jarrus (from Rebels animated series).
Really glad you enjoyed the film! It’s really not as hated as the loud haters would want the rest of the world to believe. People who loved it just don’t bother speaking out because of the backlash and toxicity in the fandom.
Great info man! Thanks a lot. Suddenly this movie becomes even better than I thought😅. Some ideas in this movie don't make sense but despite that it feels like a real Star Wars episode unlike episode eight
"Palpatine's girlfriend" made me laugh out loud, as did Leia wanting to always pass her metal bikini down to Ray. Excellent reaction, and edit, Coby!
Thank you for the joy of seeing these movies through fresh eyes. Star Wars has afraid been and continues to be such an important cornerstone of my life, from my childhood to my fatherhood. I love these movies, and it has been an amazing journey sharing your first steps in that Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Colby needs to watch The Lord of the Ring (Extended) trilogy.
*Coby
I'd prefer she watch the "Hobbit" trilogy first, given that it has a better payoff after you've seen the LOTR trilogy (and given that Tolkien wote _The Hobbit_ first, and LOTR wouldn't exist if his publishers not insisted on another Hobbit-centric story over what he'd already written for _The Silmarillion_ ).
Extended or nothing
Theatrical first. They're Jackson's preffered cuts and they're the movies we all fell in love with first.
You want to bore her to death?
Thank you for 11 amazing reactions. I love Rise of Skywalker and the sequels even with their imperfections. What a journey
Chewie finally gets his medal!! I loved the nod to the first film when Maz gave Chewie Han’s medal! Great reaction Coby, congrats on completing the saga! I think it has to be Lord of the Rings trilogy followed by the hobbit trilogy next. Cheers from Saltcoats, Scotland!
Chewie getting the news about Leia never fails to make me teary-eyed.
Could have been more compelling if JJ didn't have Rey hug Leia instead of Chewie at the end of TFA...
And his scream when Han died
Every time.
Chewie lost all of his friends except C-3PO and R2D2. (Leia, Luke, Han)
@@kd5you1 I always figured Chewie was still fulfilling the "The princess... You have to take care of her" from Han.
I grew up with the originals, around the time they were released. There's few stories I enjoy as much as Star Wars, and I adore all nine.
@@DontrelleRoosevelt you rarely see star wars fans enjoying all of them.. nice
The scene where lando shows up with a bunch of civilian ships to help the rebels is clearly a nod to the miracle at Dunkirk during WW2
Maybe, but I think it was mostly meant to be like the finale of Avengers Endgame
@@PhysicalMediaPreventsWea-bx1zm
uh no, it’s most definitely based on Dunkirk the true life history not a movie that was made a few months before. You realise movies take years to make right? These movies were made almost at the same time, it would be literally impossible for one to copy the other. It was a pure coincidence
@@captainfilip7188 ... You're right. I mean, movies copy from each other all the time but I forgot that this movie and Endgame were released the same year. For some reason I was thinking they were a couple of years apart. Sorry! My brain isn't what it used to be! 😁

"It's an energy field created by "ALL" living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." - Obi-Wan Kenobi, A New Hope
Yes, everyone has a little of The Force.
oh bro I’m so happy you liked it too! I love this movie and this whole trilogy. Another amazing reaction!
I hope that The Mandalorian (Seasons 1 & 2), The Book of Boba Fett, and The Mandalorian (Season 3) are also on your future reaction list. I think you'll really enjoy them.
-All of the Carrie Fisher scenes were archive footage since she had already died two years before they started filming. Considering what JJ Abrams had to work with, I think he did about as good as job as anyone could do in that situation.
-A life for a life. Rey died and Ben Solo traded his life for her. That is why he died moments after restoring Rey's life.
-Yes, Palpatine did die. But he had a contingency plan for that. He used his spirit to enter one of the clone bodies of himself. It was a process the Empire hadn't perfected which is why he needed that life support machine too. That was until Palpatine used the dyad connection between Rey and Ben Solo to fully restore his body.
Bringing back dead actors is an ability some consider to be unnatural.
Ben did something even Anakin did not. He didn't *stop* Rey from dying, but he actually brought her back from death with the Force. It was the most loving thing he could do. I like to believe that Ben is *in* the Force, but not dead (no Force Ghost). If the two people in a dyad are one in the Force, it would be like one of them living with half a soul if the other were gone. As Luke Skywalker said in *The Last Jedi* , "No one's ever really gone."
@@J_Rossi I hate the sequels and I really hate The last Jedi. But I always like to hear people's opinions that like the movies because they see something I just don't see. My issue with the entire Trilogy is I believe at the end Anakin's ghost or Luke and Leia's ghost should have been directly behind Rey to really round out all three trilogies. That way Rey truly is a Skywalker. But you raise an interesting point that I really never considered. Just flip the script and Anakin's grandson save somebody by sacrificing himself. That was a very good point. It's a flip on selfishness.
But how did he know how to do it. That's not how the Force works.
@@EazyMichael Because she healed him earlier. And because they are a dyad, he was able to focus on bringing her back out of pure selflessness, but it cost him his own life. That's how the Force works.

Finn's character arch: "REY!" "REY!" "REY!" "REY!"
Scared stormtrooper trying to escape, only thinking of himself, for the first time connects with others on a personal basis, Poe, first, who he thinks he loses, then Rey. But he still was running to save himself, even though he wanted her to come. His escape was stopped by Kylo's attack, and he must fight with the resistance. He begins to feel a part of something bigger than himself, and then sees his only real friend kidnapped by Kylo. Then he really has a purpose outside himself and his fear to save his friends. Step by step he becomes part of this battle to the point of almost dying at the
Hands of Kylo. He recovers and his focus remains on Rey until he realizes he's needed to help the resistance escape, which he tries to do and by the end of the second movie he is ready to give his life for those who have become his family. In the final movie, after a year, his transformation was complete as he was fully committed as a soldier to the mission. Full character arch. Great character. 😎👍

Glad that you enjoyed it! I loved episodes 7, 8 and 9. When the prequels came out I tried watching ep 1 and didn't like it. No Luke, no Leia, no Han. After watching 7, 8 and 9 I went back and watched all 3 prequels and loved them and especially Queen/Senator Amidala. Natalie Portman was awesome.
Am i the only one that would watch a rewatch of the original trilogy? I think Coby would appreciate the movies again on a rewatch.
The festival happens once every 42 years... This was a reference to the 42-year span between the release of the original Star Wars (now called Episode IV) in 1977, and the release of Episode IX in 2019.
The blond hobbit is Dominick Monaghan. He was also a major character in the series Lost, and has done a bunch of other cool stuff.
Fun fact: Babu Frick is voiced by Shirley Henderson, the actress who played Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter
No way!!
Did she also voice the Anzellan(s) in Mando Season 3?
@ yes it looks like she did. Good spot!
I also go against popular feelings and really enjoyed it. Having grown up in the 80's, Star Wars is part of my life and while the original trilogy are the best, all nine are part of a great story and journey.
Finn’s character: “REEEYYY”
To be fair, the Leia buns were only Carrie's hairstyle for the first movie. By the second and third movies of the O.T. she had already changed her hair. Regardless, the cosplay is always appreciated.
Moral of the story: movies are so much better watching with someone. Not to say you can't enjoy alone, but the fresh perspective and seeing someone's reaction can't be beat.
Just keep your expectations realistic, don't try to force anyone to like what you like, and have a good time. Everyone is entitled to a first watch!
I feel like it needs saying once in a while ✌️
I believe Oscar Isaac's character was supposed to die in the beginning of The Force Awakens, but he was able to convince JJ Abrams to keep the character alive.
Han: I know. ...and you know the line that came before that. First time viewing tears for that scene.
"Somehow palpatine returned" "would you care to elaborate on that" "no".... sigh.... why do they keep letting JJ Abrams make movies????
"Somehow Maul returned" is somehow "awesome"....
And also, the Emperor returned via cloning in Dark Horse comics in the 90s and it was totally "fine”, Disney does the exact same thing and THEN it's "stupid"
Poe announced to the Resistance all he knew. Pay attention to context clues in the film, and you might see that enough was provided for you to figure out how Palpatine returned.
But he didn't really 'return', did he? _He never left._
He first appeared in a flashback sequence of the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, where he was portrayed by Billy Howle. In Star Wars Legends, Emperor Palpatine also had experimented with cloning himself, to which he intended to transfer his spirit.
Carrie Fisher 's daughter Billie is in the last 2 movies, also was in a few of "American horror stories"
Glad you just enjoyed these movies. I did too although I could see some of the flaws in these movies, especially this last one. It was fun watching this journey with Coby!
The correct title for each movie:

Episode II: Revenge of the Sith
Episode III: Attack of the Clones
Episode IV: Return of the Jedi
Episode V: The Force Awakens
Episode VI: The Last Jedi
Episode VII: Empire Strikes Back
Episode VIII: A New Hope
Episode IX: The Phantom Menace

Good one
Coby, best reaction reactor on the internet! Look forward to whatever film she reacts to next.
Carrie did sadly pass before this was filmed. They used unused footage from episode 7 to create her scenes.
To explain Chewie; he swore a life debt to Han Solo. That means that he shadows Han and his immediate family, until he dies. In this trilogy he lost Han, then Han's ex brother-in-law Luke, then his ex wife Leia. The only member of this Disney version of the family alive, is Ben Solo. For the first time in his life, he's free. In the expanded universe novels, it's Luke, his wife Mara Jade Skywalker, their son Ben Skywalker, and Han Solo, his wife Leia Organa Solo, their children Jacen Solo, Jainna Solo, and Anakin Solo
You shouldn't have to apologize for liking a movie or a trilogy. As I said before, I literally grew up with the original Trilogy, being just six years old when the original movie was released..... and I enjoyed this trilogy very much. They left some glaring plot holes, but in terms of entertainment value, I really enjoy them as much as the previous two trilogies. People are entitled to their opinions, but I don't think people have the right to attack or criticize other people's opinions.
I'm bummed about Ben too...and how everyone seemingly just forgot about him.
Enjoyed watching all of your Star Wars reactions!!!! What's next? You did mention you never saw Lord of the Rings!! Extended versions are the way to watch!
YES! 12 hours of characters walking! That's a must watch.
@jkhoover I totally agree! I really like when they run sometimes, too! Such epic ground pounding throughout the saga! Those Hobbits really do have tough feet! I really hope Colby will watch!!!!!
For those who are wondering how Sidious is alive, his spirit transfer to a clone body after he died in the Death Star II. The clone body can’t handle his spirit and need a body that contains all that power. Most of that information is from the novelization of The Rise of Skywalker and Shadow of the Sith book and I recommend to anyone who wants to learn more details of the Sequel Trilogy
Palpatine's body was destroyed, however he transfered his consciousness into a clone on Exegol. He then created many clones because they were not up to the task.
One of his defective clones was Rey's father, apparently.
The famous phrase I have a bad feeling about this was hidden in the previous movie, BB-8 said it and Poe answers: "Happy bips, OK?"
In Solo, the phrase was turned over and Han says "I have a good feeling about this" while taking control of the Falcon.
This movie is a masterclass in "How Not To Make a last Movie From a Grand Saga" kind of thing, imo.
Lightsaber lighting up, Poe lighting up his lamp in response: you were supposed to smile of laugh at this. You didn't. THAT was funny.
Disney didn't even invent a thing, all plot points were derived from already known plots from comics and stuff that they claimed didn't exist, lol...
The Emperor's clones idea came from the comics Dark Empire.
Leia's footage from Ep7 was recycled in a deepfake.
Carrie Fisher died after filming Ep8 (it was in post production and Rogue One was just out in the theatres).
The biggest mistake of these films was not bringing back Hayden as Anakin's force ghost to either talk to Luke in the last movie or Ben in this one.
You really need to do the Mandalorian series. I know they're not movies, but she has to do them!

Yeah, it just smacks of laziness. "Quick! Let's bring back a familiar enemy and make him the mastermind behind everything again. Surely, that'll make everyone happy!" 🙄
It was clear that Disney (primarily Kathleen Kennedy) really had no big overall plan and were just winging it from movie to movie. But when you announce an entire new trilogy, you *NEED* to have a solid plan. You can't just fumble about from movie to movie, bringing in creatives and letting them do whatever they want, and then hope that it all adds up neatly in the end. Say what you want about the Prequel Trilogy, but there's no denying that George Lucas had a clear plan and he knew how he was going to get from A to B to C.
It’s not the line that’s the problem tho - it’s the lack of explanation of the line… if Hitler came back from the dead chances are I would say, ‘somehow Hitler returned…’
It's literally the most reasonable line in the entire movie, because the resistance has no way of knowing how.
And yet Beaumont Kin (Dominic Monaghan) tells the audience exactly how in the very next line.
But Poe literally doesn’t know how he returned.. so what else can he possibly say other than “somehow Palpatine returned”…
tf do you want him to say,
@@skywobi It's the entire premise of bringing Palpatine back that sucks so that line is terrible because the entire plot is terrible.
Great reaction... I loved the way they passed the lightsaber... it was like they finally were using the force in practical ways instead of only in the heat of battle or training. 100% if jedi existed they would actually do stuff like that but you never really see it in the prequels or original series.

I will defend that line to end of my days as there is no way characters would know how it happened so it actually makes sense in-universe.
@@Mecha82bad screenwriting.
@@FosterTravis1071 Possibly, but it's no where near Acolyte levels of bad. None of it will be as well written as Andor, and none of it will pay as much fan service as mando, and none of it will world build as much as the clone wars series, but as long as we stay away from the Acolyte levels of bad, i'm ok with it.
@@Mecha82 yes, it is a good line that makes sense "in universe" but as a movie line it's terrible bc the writers could only make that the explanation 😂
@@JazzMaster01 Fair, though almost every story coming out of Hollywood has no thorough plan (including the original trilogy). There are so many variables, such as Carrie Fisher's passing that make a full plan, impossible.
They used deleted scenes and previously filmed footage. Also, the young blond girl is her daughter and she filled in for the training scene. They used CGI to impose Carrie’s face over hers. It had to be really hard for her but she got to help bring her mother back into the series.
Don't worry about liking it or even loving it... I am 50 years old, raised on the original trilogy in the 70s and 80s, and still a huge fan of ALL 3 trilogies, stand alone films and the series. I like some stories/plot points and characters more then others, but no hate, and they all have something. My top 3 films are Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi and The Last Jedi.... but I don't hate or dislike of them. I have 3 ranks.. The ones I watch the most, the ones I re-watch the lease and the ones somewhere in the middle (depending on my mood that day)
Facts I'm in the same boat ... Personally I enjoy SW.. I haven't gotten into the latest Disney+ series for various reasons but I will eventually 😎
I think a lot of people are too critical and nitpicky. Some of that comes from decades of built-up expectations, which makes it impossible for a director to possibly deliver something most original fans will like. Even the originals had their issues, but through a combination of nostalgia, and self Jedi mind-tricks people play (🤚Luke *never* made out with his sister...), people conveniently pretend those issues didn't exist. Personally, the biggest issues I had with the sequel trilogy is that they didn't have the common sense to write *ALL* of them at once before they started filming so they didn't end up with a convoluted mess, and that The Force Awakens was a borderline copy/paste of A New Hope. Callbacks and similarities are one thing, but that was ridiculous.
That's the most sensible way to look at it I've read.I'm 65 and I've seen all 9 Star Wars films,Solo and Rogue One...and I'm not a hard core fan.I just enjoy them..I don't know anything about "lore",and so I'm not obsessed with it like so many others.Happy to see someone else having fun with these films.
Dominic Monaghan, who played Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Charlie Pace on the ABC series Lost is in Star Wars and the story of how he got there is a wild ride.
You get it Coby.... glad you enjoyed it!
The Oprah impression..."you got the force, you got the force" haha good one
As a lifelong fan since I first watched the OT as a 4 or 5 year old in the mid 90s I have my gripes with the sequels. But I still generally like them. Their weaker moments are pretty weak, but their strong moments are really strong. And in the end I just think they're fun movies to watch and enjoy. I think it helps that I read so many of the books and played a lot of the games, so experiencing a Star Wars story through another writer wasn't anything new to me.
Honestly, my biggest gripe in this whole movie is the dagger pointing the direction to the Sith Wayfinder. That dagger was supposedly ancient. Yet the lines and little curvature that pulled out of it happened to line up with the exact shape of the wreckage of the Death Star after it fell to Endor?
But the thing most people seem to be upset about is the "Palpatine returning" bit. But that never bothered me in the slightest. It made sense to me. But I read the old Extended Universe books long before the sequels and they just pulled that plot from one of the books. The stuff is all there, already laid out. Palpatine, as leader of the Republic, had access to the Kaminoan cloning tech. His whole speech with Anakin about Darth Plagueis being able to save others but not himself, which is what he wanted for himself to live forever. (I think also mirrored by Ben saving Rey but then dying in the process) And his line that he said in Ep 3 and now in this one about the dark side being a pathway to unnatural abilities.
Basically, the idea was that through ancient Sith sorcery techniques someone could pass their essence into a newer and younger body. In the past (in a game called The Old Republic set 2000 years before the Skywalker Saga) Sith Sorcerors used rituals to move into the bodies of their apprentices when they were strong enough. Palpatine thought it would work better if the host was a clone, more "natural" that way. I'm not sure exactly what the deal with his son was, if he tried doing a Jango and Boba Fett kind of thing and his clone/son ran away, or if the clone woke up and escaped. But now the next best thing is a descendent of his bloodline. And since Rey's father was a clone of Palpatine, it's really just like a father/daughter difference in genetics rather than grandfather/granddaughter.
Anyways. I know that sounds complicated, but the clues have all been there in just the movies. Clones. Dark side and unnatural abilities. When he died at the end of Ep 6 his body moved to a clone. But it didn't work as planned so he was stuck where he was waiting for a proper host. The ritual probably requires the new host to be the one to strike down the person wanting to change bodies. Which was a step that was skipped by going right into a clone body. Which is why he was goading Rey into striking him down.
In Colin Trevorrow's script Palpatine was just a holographic projection he recorded in the event of his death.
Palpatine made clones of himself, so if he died his spirit would have a vessel to return to
But why are his clones scarred? Wouldn't he be his old healthy self?
@@brandonparisien2381 the clones aren't capable of safely using the force, so it makes the clone deteriorate

Cobys journey of watching star wars movies has come to an end she is now a full trained jedi, Her journey is now complete Big thumbs up May the force be with u
I think Cobie said she was drawn to the darkside in earlier episode😊
Complete not, young padwan, is Coby's journey, More to learn about the force, she has. Membership of the Star Wars fans she is granted, but not granted the level of master she is......yet. ;-)
Seriously though, there is still a plethora of content and intertwined stories through the various animated series, Andor, Kenobi and Mandoverse before Coby can be considered anything close to a master. I'm actually quite keen to see her watch the Clone Wars & Rebels & then see how many easter egss she finds when watching Andor, Kenobi, Mando, BoBF & Ahsoka..........Coby has no idea of who Ahsoka is yet!
Now we wait for Coby to be in Star Wars. Someday maybe
@@15uzu i suggested something similar and got a reply that Coby not having enough time to react to SW shows. Would love to still see it though
The directors of Rise, was the creator of Lost. That's why Rises actors look familiar.
I heard a million voices cry out in terror as Coby says "she's the best" when witnessing Reys training. 😆
Who's "Colby"?

Me too. I loved it.
I don't like the sequels but I do think it's hilarious when people get let down and disappointed when a new fan who is younger actually likes them. It's like people have skewed priorities in life and worry about everything other than themselves.
STAR WARS ... what an amazing story. Loved it since 1977 ... :)
What a breath of fresh air, a TH-cam that actually enjoyed rise of sky walker /the sequel trilogy. I completely agree with you!
First, Rose did not die in The Last Jedi. We see her once more after she crashes her glider to save Finn. She is laying down, either back in the cave or on the Falcon after their escape, still unconscious but alive. Also, we're not done with Rey. There is a new Star Wars movie in the works tentatively titled Episode X: A New Beginning. It takes place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and features Rey as a full fledged Jedi master. She is rebuilding the Jedi order. But of course, powerful enemies also rise to oppose her.
oh yah I think they are going to get Palpatine to be the villain.
I hated the Disney trilogy but if you liked it, that's OK. Everyone has a right to their own opinion
Great reaction Coby! When in the cinema and Chewie found out PL died inwas heartbroken for him 😂😢😢😢 cried like a baby
1:05:50 You are not alone. Are they as good as the original trilogy? That is subject to each person's opinion. Do these movies stand up on their own? I think so. While I still like the OG best, I also like the new trilogy. I have room enough to like all of SW.
