Did you mean the raw record of Benni at 460kg or the 462kg if Eddie in strongman gear?

Crazy to think that in 2014 it was a struggle with and suit and in 2015 he pulled it easily without!
I think I've never seen Eddie failing a deadlift
The only was I can remember was at ESM in 2015/16 when he lifted the weight to get a new WR but dropped it rather than lowered it so the lift didn't count.

Eddie said so himself on the day of pulling 500 smackers he could have done 560kg but thought 500 was enough and is a symbolic amount (half a metric tonne) For a guy who beat his own previous record of 460kg the leap of 40kg at such big weights is unheard of in Strongman deadlifting under competition conditions.
Well if he said he could've pulled 560 then it has to be true.

@bagged1998 Thor wasn't under competition conditions, hence why i added that, that makes hell of a difference. For all we know Thor added fake weights, you can't be sure. Lifting at home is unregulated. I have Bodymax training plates which arnvt calibrated, they are close but not exact, and its 1 kg anyway, presenting in front of people is genuinely terrifying, like being back at school, so there is social pressure, a camera lens doesnt do that, a video may reach a million people, but in front of screaming people face to face is very different experience. Therevs also no time to "feel ready" like Eddie said, he was ordered to lift ready or not mentally. You cant deny that Thor had an easier time mentally and surrounded by his mates lol eddie is "Our guy" screw you

At the end of the day thor holds the world record, however eddie trained for the 500 in 1 year whereas thor took 4 years? Could be 5 but i cant remember. If eddie trained for that long then the record would have been higher. He didnt so much struggle with the weight, it was holding it at the top for 10 seconds that nearly killed him. Thor only held it for 1 second so it's hard to compare what would have happened if the time held was the same

You can say things that are true, or that you believe to be true. But you also must realize that none of this stuff you are saying matters at all. There's always a way to swing the narrative to fit your bias. There's a better way to go about it by simply saying "I was more impressed by ed's 500 kilos." Still doesn't matter in the record books but it doesn't try to de-legitimize anyone else.

Are you seriously for real? He didn't train for it for four years, deadlift is a part of his competition. There was no specificity to it, Thor was training to win competitions. Regular, elephant bar, side handle, axle pulls. In that four years, he won 3 more ESM titles to make 5. He won WSM, Three Arnold classics and a WUS title. You are beyond stupid if you think that's training for a deadlift, it's called training to win every major title in strongman. The deadlift was just something he wanted to prove he could do to finish his career off. Stop buying this four years bullshit, because seriously mate, you make yourself look like an idiot.

I'm just going to do 1000 reps of 9kg on both arms ... which would mean I lifted more
volume is good but not the same as power. Power is all the weight all at once, volume is reps, and not baby-reps, you can also train in distance. The DL is 9 inches from floor typically, on raised platform you can get it down to 2 inches to get hand underneath, making the lift 7 inches longer, or a dumbell curl 180degree from leg to chest or 90 degree to chest. Distance training gives you the full range of motion

No, he retired. Also being physically too heavy can make things more difficult and affect quality of life. A heavy guy can only be seriously good at heavy lifting. If you are to become more agile, you need weightloss, but you can't be both. You can be big, strong, heavy or lighter, medium strength but more agile. You pick 1 based on the trade-off you want. Every pro comes with a con. The con is based on what other aspect you're willing to sacrifice about you. You can have nice things but not have it all
