Hi everyone, I have added this pastel to my list of tutorials, although the channel is primarily Oil and Watercolour, I could not resist throwing in a pastel. I'll do this from time to time. Let me know what pastels and papers you like to use and how you get on with them in the comments below.

More pastels! More pastels! I love painting watercolor, and adding soft pastels to the top layer actually. Thanks!

Sadly the channel was to diluted on many media, so had to cut stuff out, sadly as I love PAstels

Super. I was given some pastels as a gift at Christmas, not used them yet, but that is all the inspiration I need.

Hi Paul. As a lifelong, hobby painter I suppose I am self-taught. However I became very serious about my art in 1981 when I was recovering from surgery. Also, I have just reacquainted myself with your art channel. I wondered where you had gone! That's because I watch the tube mainly on my TV via an Amazon fire-stick and it isn't possible to subscribe through that, so one loses touch! The only thing I can't really share is your enthusiasm for Shotley Gate. In 1954 I had the worst year of my life there, in HMS Ganges. The rest of the Navy Service was much better thankfully! Back to the channel... You have a nice touch with your brushes, and now I find a pastel demo too. Great! I also thank you for alerting me to indigo and aureolin. So already I learned something. It's a like for this video, and a subscribe. Your channel shows, tells and demonstrates. Just what is needed. Well done! John in Brum

Nice clear detailed teaching method Paul. You packed a lot of color info into short descriptions which are easy to understand. Nice to hear what colors work well together as the painting proceeds. I struggle terribly with color- my drawing, tints and shades are ok, but color really defeats me.

You must be using soft buttery pastel? They ho on so forgiving and beautiful. I have only chalk or hard and no in between. Can you share what yours are?
