Wow. My dad was a commercial artist because that was the only option for artists, and then he became the art director for the biggest advertising agency in the Southern Hemisphere after we left London. He died too young, before he could travel and paint Australia, which was his dream. This is a lovely tribute for Bob Richardson.
Australia has unique light reflection and wild life atmosphere really challenging for artists and photographers, I took many amazing photographs when I was there.
After watching this video and being totally and almost overwhelmingly inspired I feel like new blood has been infused into my veins and I'm itching to get back painting again. Thank you
These are the nicest pastels I have seen in years. They rival anything I have seen in oil. Truly impressionistic and atmospheric in approach and technique. I had never seen any of your work. I am duly awed, humbled and inspired anew. Thank you Sir. Also, I have been putting people into landscapes as well. I teach others to do the same. It gives such humanity to paintings.
Without question Bob Richardson is the best landscape pastel artist in Britain , indeed Europe if not global living today. His works are inspirational, capturing the light and atmosphere of each scene delicately and profoundly, Such a humble talented artist, passionate and dedicated to his art. This is a wonderful film and gratefully appreciated.
I salute you, Sir. You have mastered the art of the Pastel. Your talent shines for me from the way you capture the light. It is masterful and I wish I cud paint like that chuck. My family and I are from Stockport and I recognised many of the places portrayed in this too short video. Words can't describe how this has inspired me so I will say tara ar kid and let me watch this many times pausing to look at the amazing detail I have yet to master.
My regards to the maestro. Extremely beautiful work. One thing I'd like to know, are all works on paper? Has he used any other medium. Hoping for a reply. Warm regards..
I expected him to make a picture in the video. He speaks only in front of his works, he is disappointed. It's sad, his knowledge and technique will go with him this way.
Wonderful work and video! I'm such a fan💞 a couple of questions if I may; are your oil pastel paintings on canvas, and if so is it primed? Do you put anything over the pastel painting or simply frame under glass only?
Also A lot of artists have a go at pastel fixative, but as I travel a lot, I need to fix my work. I use a good name (w+n or what have you). But I use it both during painting and after it very lightly. And when I finally fix it I take my time. Usually about four very thin layers spaying and waiting. With a bit of patience I get very little darkening
Dang his art is so good.
Those scenes are something you could look at every day and never get tired of it.
Unreal! His art is amazing, I had no idea soft pastel could look like that
A great artist in pastels. His work is world class, masterly and a wonderful inspiration to those who wish to go in pastel painting.
I agree, there is so much extreme realism being done online today and this work is so refreshing in its much looser approach. Masterful.
Extreme realism says nothing

Beautiful work, so inspiring! The way he captures the light and his ability to describe with just enough suggestion is a rare gift
Stunning pastel works, inspiring...thank you for sharing.
Amazing work. Really doesn't look like pastels.... The flowers, the figures, the trees.... Too good
Absolutely stunning.
The mastery of light in these is dumbfounding. What an inspiration
Bob Richardson, you are my Edward Seago of pastel painting.I’ve never seen your amazing work before now.

They said he originally worked in oils.
Very interesting
WOW!
When he’s sitting at 4:06 I couldn’t tell if that’s art or a window to his upper left
Once again, Italy's transformative effect on the English soul.
I expected him to make a picture in the video. He speaks only in front of his works, he is disappointed. It's sad, his knowledge and technique will go with him this way.

I believe these are soft pastels, not oil.
I believe these are soft pastels, not oil.
How can I protect the works in pastel?
Under glass do not use fixative.
You can also carefully apply an acrylic medium on top to seal your work
👌👌👌
Che carta usa maestro?
Grazie.
Sandpaper?
👍🏻👍😊🤩👌💞
Pastel acrilyque ou a ''huile .Merci
Hovis!
Looks like a ghost appearing in the window at 11:25.
what fixative would you recommend? Most fixative darkens the pastel.

@@jimisi7424 what kind of pestil use
Is it oil pastel or soft pastel?
Soft pastel.
@@kerry5586 thanks! The works are so awesomeeee
@@YozBunbun And they are fabulous representations of the atmosphere of Stockport in a time gone by, especially the market place which I know so well.
He's painting on P400 hardware store sandpaper.
Probably no. Canson mi tienes ( no sand)
Hardware store sandpaper isn't archival. If he used sanded surfaces throughout his career, he probably made them himself using gesso and grit.
@@cg8397 Good point, thank you
Flipped collar
He looks like sir Alex Ferguson
I really don’t realise why an artist would be a realist artist, when man is not a camera,😂😂😂
Great work keep up the spirit
