Todays video starts with reversing at Hatton Cross West to East.
Followed by a very long slow journey back to Cockfosters.
With issues with passengers getting stuck in the train doors.
Don't forget to subscribe and hit that bell icon.
Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy this latest video
Well done, mate. You're a gent for respecting the privacy and dignaty of that child on the platform at Russel Square. Oh and, NO, you're not bad tempered or grumpy, some people are idiots and only care about themselves.
Fully agree. That was very decent.
Thank you. I appreciate that. I don’t believe in filming stuff just for clicks. I try to be respectful
@@dalecharmantravels8057 Exactly this why I like drivers like you. Always positive and willing to answer questions as well as respecting each others privacy. Sucks that you had a bad day but we always get through it no matter what anyone does or says.
Well said
Fabulous video Dale. It really IS interesting to see your perspective on a bad bad night. We as passengers can often be really frustrated in such situations of course, but it's great to see how it was for you. Very considerate to respect privacy at Russell Square (and I hope that persion wound up being OK). I loved your announcements to the train - specially by the end. If I had been on there I would have been annoyed but felt your empathy and that you were in it with us.byou were human and caring if the pax under your care. Thank you!
I don't understand people who want to hold up a train for their own gratification. You do a good job. Thanks for showing us your day
It's an every day occurrence in NYC. I feel Dale's pain.
Self entitled types with no sense of anything or anyone else going on around them. These types are arrogant selfish self absorbed, me me me. Alot of these types are borderline sociopathic in life.
@@toddhunter3137 Preach it, my friend!!
@@samf3416 lol.. rant over! 🤣🤣
@@toddhunter3137 No, it is a good rant!! There are more and more people like that in our society today than ever before and in America it’s getting exponentially worse.
33 seconds....... from merily proceeding at line speed on greens, recounting the speed limits from memory to camera to recieving a emergency call, slowing to walking pace, recieving the information of the incident, informing all the passengers and turning the camera off with an explanation and with 75 metres to spare before hitting the platform end.
Impressive.
Stop it I will get a big head 🤣🤣🤣
Speedy recovery to the person, indeed! I personally believe you performed brilliantly and respectfully. Thank you for being honest about you day at work.
Thank you so much!
Wow! Didn't expect to see an emergency brake application in a video! It's nice to be able to see a journey full of delays and problems from the driver's perspective too. I think a lot of people travelling forget there's a person at the front of the train and a whole team who's just as frustrated if not more than they are!
That’s true. Just because we are paid to be there doesn’t mean we like to be stuck like the passengers
What timestamp is the emergency application?
47.20
47:20
@dalecharmantravels8057 and if I'm assuming correctly you guys don't get payed any overtime.
This video i think shows everything about the underground, everyday is different and anything can happen. True gentleman for maintaining dignity and respect for the ill child, new found respect for how much you drivers have to deal with on a daily basis.
Pizza in hand, TH-cam on, my kind of Saturday night!
Loving the uploads
Agree 100%. This sure as hell beats Ant and Decs "Saturday night takeaway".😂
@@markdavies5662 TV sucks these days
Oh dear me Dale, SO much to comment on! A very different vid this time, please don't ever stop the rabbiting, it's what makes it all so enjoyable, as well as everything else of course. l was suffering all the way with you needing the loo, no wonder you got a bit shirty with the passengers standing in the doors, but they deserved it! do let us know next time how soon you got to the loo! Thanks for sticking with us to the bitter end!
😄
Speaking of track speeds and speed restrictions , I've found that most car drivers think of slowing down until the speed sign , me included , for a train driver the speed limit means you're doing that speed from the speed sign or less , as you say , you drive to your route .
I spent three nights unexpectedly in hospital this week and on one visit my daughter asked if I was not bored I said no way, I have spent many hours in a train cab on the Piccadilly line and watched a man in Australia unblocking drains 😂
YES! Australian man unlocking drains! (What about a man cleaning some very dirty rugs?). And these videos are of course wonderful too.
I also watch Drain Cleaning Australia. Best job on the planet, according to him.
Is it Drain addict?
@@jacobnienhuysen2283 - Yep!
@@gordonm2821 Hah, I'm following that one too! Great channel! 😂
Rough shift
I find these really enjoyable and thank you for continuing to make them. That was definitely a test of the patients
I really like your you tube vidieos.
And your banter.
Keep up the great work
Thats my Saturday night sorted....over ninety mins????? ❤❤❤ Brilliant
Thanks Dale
Hi Dale thanks for sharing your duty with us, quite a duty! Never seen an emergency stop before so was interesting to see that. Don’t apologise for your announcements to us, idiots need to be told, as I always say “firm but fair”, looking forward to the next one😊❤
Yeah
What a very respectful thing to do, hats off to you Dale. You were so quick in responding! I went back and watched it a few times and it was nano-seconds between getting the call and hitting the emergency brakes. Not all hero's wear capes, some drive the London Underground.
I might also wear a cape at weekends 🤣🤣
Ive just sat and had this on the back ground while gaming. I have a few things to say.
As a passenger on bussy busses for close to 10 years, i don't think of a bus or traindriver as rude for calling out passengers blocking the doors. As long as its not someone who's getting on or off though a crowd of people. But some jerks see there are no seats left so just lean agains the doors and then wont let them open or stuff like that. They might not want to go to school or work but if I'm late i might miss my midterm test that day or miss my connection to go on a work experience day. Ive seen drivers throw people out and for good reasons.
And you have (in my humble opinion) handled yourself very well. Keeping passengers informed repeatedly, etc...
Love the old vintage Roundel on the end of Caladon Road Station platform. It’s great they left it in place.
Hi Dale. Thanks once more for an excellent video. You dealt with your challenges very well. I can understand your frustration at some of the idiots standing in the doorways, but you were very direct and professional with them, certainly better than I would have been, that's for sure!
Well done!
Thank you I appreciate it
Completely useful and helpful information. I am enlightened. Thanks for filming this.
I am totally with you on passengers holding the doors, you're not being rude, it's how the majority of decent passengers feel.
Also hope the child who fell ill on the platform recovered well.
Dale you are very professional driver. You have every right to scream and shout at idiots on the platform. Mad respect for you
Thank you I appreciate it
Love the channel, Dale. Sorry you had a rough day but great job and thank you for sharing the bad along with the good.
I have watched many driver POV but this video is a game changer. All the different things you experienced on this trip were verbally explained, missing from other channels. Excellent work, thank you for sharing your driver experience.
Echo all the comments on here. You dealt with that incident very respectfully 👏👏
@@MN-qj8re thank you
What a run! I'm loving the content! Also, thanks for answering the doors question a couple of days back. Very interesting stuff!
You are most welcome. Thank you for the support
Sorry you had a bad shift to contend with Dale.
Thank you for sharing though the frustrations that can occur during the daily routine of a Tube train driver.
Enjoy your day off 👍
Hello Dale,
I've watched all your excellent videos, never apologise for calling out self centred people who ignore safety of all.
You are a credit to London Underground.
A genuinely nice bloke who shares knowledge, wisdom and funniness
Cheers Dale
Best wishes from James and Alexandra.
Great video thank you very watchable. keep them coming.
“You’re seeing a different side of me today” - you’re showing some restraint :) I’d be fuming on the speaker calling out the moron. That’s why I don’t drive trains. I’d be bad for company PR 😂
I never get bored watching your videos even if the routes are being repeated as you always have a new story to share and more events can happen. Best regards
Awesome video mate thanks for sharing
really good to see both good and bad days, its really insightful for people who might be confused about procedures, or those who actually want to become drivers!
Hope your flight trip went well. You well deserve some luxury!
That trip really shows the amount of concentration needed with all the delays. Fascinating watch as always!
Thank you I appreciate that
Great dignity good man.
I’m new to this channel and loves trains and what you do and how you do it is an amazing job. Thank you for all you do!
My first time watching you came up in my YT recommendations. Enjoyed watching sorry you had a difficult shift but made for great content. Thank you for your honest and open commentary. I have a whole new respect for train drivers. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you for showing us a bad day from a driver view, have more respect when trains are running late now.
Thank you Dale, I am feeling pretty ghastly today [I live with MND] and your video was much appreciated.
Absolutely agree your discretion with filming is just another example of your professional operations great job sir!
People need to be more mindful that they are not the only people in the world
Love your comments about the passengers: 45:41 "Pick a door". We like the drama; you like the routine.
This video shows what a great job you and the other drivers do. Well done and thank you.👍
I love watching your videos, I learn so much. You're awesome and long may it continue
Dale your a true professional driver and by watching your videos show what you go through on your shifts. I understand how frustrating it can be with dealing with the public as I use to work for Hilton International at Heathrow Terminal 4 . Well done keep up the good work and keep on with your videos
Mate, I get your frustrations. I drove buses in and around Sydney (Australia), and us drivers used to reckon it was a great job - if you didn’t have to deal with passengers😆😂Deep breaths Dale, deep breaths👍🏻
Gent for the Russell Square emergency Dale....
Much respect
What an awesome treat :) You did a great job handling the incident at Russel Square, as well as all those idiots thinking that doors are toys. Keep up the great work, and don't worry about coming off as rude, I think any sane person would totally understand and be on your side.
Good video and I fully agree with your frustration with door blockers!!!!
Waiting for them to leave home 😂
You were true, you don’t want people injuring themselves or falling down the gap!
Excellent video and a fascinating insight into what happens when things don't always go according to plan.
Blimey...that just about had everything. Great entertainment with a couple of chuckles thrown in. Thanks Dale, all the best to you.
Love these videos Dale, very useful and educational!
Enjoyed your video, looks like that Was a difficult day. Hats off to you, your a Gentleman!
I can only imagine all the different things people do in, on, and around Tube trains when they're having a less-than-brilliant moment of it... somehow I doubt those folks who can't figure out how doors work are the worst of it. But, I imagine they _are_ rather common... for better or worse, sir, may I say that your wit in chastising them, both remotely via YT vid, and over the announcer system, is not only appreciated but makes me cackle uproariously.
Of course, best of health to the child with the seizure. My goodness... and thank you, Dale, for NOT filming that, that is a hard day indeed and not a spectacle to be broadcast. You handled that _perfectly_ IMO.
Warts and all... It was good to see a bad day at work although frustrating for you, Dale. You showed what can go wrong but did it in a respectful way. Thanks very much.
You mentioned the tunnel telephone wires. There were 2 systems back in the day. The handset which you rightly say was carried by the drivers ( issued tested and signed for at the start of any duty that bought a train out of depot) This unit discharged traction current when clipped into the TT wires.
There was also DRICO, which was built into the cabs which utilised the same wire but did not discharge traction current. Certain trips had a timetabled stop in the tunnel for the driver to carry out a DRICO test. I’m guessing that the D stock were the last to be equipped with this even though train radio was more or less rolled out my the time I was a District Guard in early 84.
Just a bit of trivia. Things have moved on a lot since I left in the late 80s
Thank you
Great video once again Dale keep it up great work
Hello Dale, many thanks for this video. You have my upmost sympathy and support for dealing with the ‘pond life’ who cannot operate correctly on the wonderful London Underground , which, as a Northerner from deepest, darkest Hull, I have never had a problem using. Cheers again for your excellent video and also, being a great and caring driver. From Andy in Hull
What an adventure - All in a day's work. Nice to hear all the announcements to those on board.
Thank you for your calming voice. I love your videos.
(We are held at a red signal I do apologise) best & most popular phrase said on a daily work basis solid video keep it going pal ✌🏻
Thank you for this great ride-along. It was most interesting.
Champagne to good drivers and pain or at least moderate discomfort to selfish dopes who hold doors open and delay whole trains-full of passengers.
-----
If I was a driver I would want to take an empty 1.5 litre bottle and cap with me for emergencies.
I very rarely comment on TH-cam, but just wanted to say that you reacted very well by switching the camera off. Bad enough as it is for everyone involved, no need for disaster tourists...
Keep up the good work!
Hi from sunny Scotland im a retired signalman i used to work on the North Clyde lines, i have been enjoying watching your videos, i can understand your frustration at passengers standing in the doors, when i first started in the railway i worked in the stations and what drove me bonkers were passengers running up the platform to get to a particular carriage, especially if the train is running late,I liked when the guard would just close the doors and go,although we were left with an unhappy passenger but hope they learned their lesson.
i found channel via this video and i loved evry minute of the video and watched from start to finished and it was great to see things from the driver points of view and i have respect for you in stopping filming coming into russel Sq due to that kid having a medical emeergency you are a very kind person 😍😍
Very interesting insight into the daily life of a tube driver, and what hazards could arise in such little time. Excellent video to pass the time.👍
Love the video Dale, very educational showing such inconveniences (no pun intended) as needing the loo. As a retired Class 1 HGV driver I am fully aware of the loo issues and delays with no facility available. I found a small drinks bottle to be the answer, which can conveniently emptied when a loo is found. Probably more information than needed but it worked for me! Very much looking forward to your next video, as always.
Awesome commentary. thoroughly enjoyed this episode. really interesting to see how it all goes pear shaped.
very professional. love your videos.
Fascinating. I rode the Piccadilly line 50 years ago as a 5 year old. Now watching this from the other side of the world (New Zealand). This brings back so many memories. Dale, thank you much for your wonderful videos.
Wow, what an eventful day. I hope that person is okay. Thanks for the video!
Another really enjoyable video, Dale. Thanks. As I’ve said before, I watch them in parts so I’ve just reached Gloucester Road. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what it’s like in town. 😀
Thank you Brian. As always thank you for your support
We all have bad days even train drivers. Love the videos Dale
Thanks Dale. I found this very interesting. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant video. Your diligent focus, and ability to react is exemplary. And don’t worry about voicing frustrations. I was thinking the same thing and I’m just a viewer.
Hi Dale another great video, don't know how you stay patient whilst passengers play chicken with the doors, you did the right thing turning the camera off whilst the passenger incident was happening. Looked like the shift from hell to me. Looking forward to the next video, hopefully not as stressful for you.
Mr Dale welldone for not filming that scary emergency moment the video was wonderful i really like your driving skills my name is Kagiso from johannesburg south Africa
I very much enjoyed this one more to enjoy with all the reds and you done very well to hold on to use the toilet
another great video I guess we all have the odd bad day but coped very well and best wishes to the family at Russell sq.
Hot bothered & needing a wee.
Join Dale 😂😂😂😂.
Good video dude.
Passengers can be idiots for sure.
We have had a lot of disruption in aviation Ops the last few weeks as well so I know how it feels.
Clocked you (I think) at Acton the other day when I was passing through.
Following day I was in Uxbridge riding the heritage 38 stock.
Superb & took me down memory lane.😊😊
Loved it Dale, poor you but so interesting for me to watch, as always love your commentary and listening to your voice. Thank you so much
Thanks
Thank you so much I really appreciate it
Hey Dale. Don't worry about the passengers, if they can't board a train properly, they shouldn't be on the Underground at all. Love your videos, keep going. From Simon.
What a beautiful evening, Thank you!
Greetings Dale from across the pond! Our family visited London two years ago and spent a fair amount of time traveling the Piccadilly line. It’s great to see the trip from the driver’s view. I enjoy all your videos but this one was especially interesting. Thanks for videoing and sharing with us. I hope you enjoy your upcoming travels to NYC and Acela trip to Washington, DC. There’s so many wonderful sights to see in DC, but here’s a tip from a frequent visitor. Visit the Lincoln Memorial in the evening, climb to the top of the stairs and take a seat on the top step. The view at night looking at the reflecting pool, WWII memorial and Washington monument towards the U. S. Capitol building is both amazing and peaceful. Have a safe trip and here’s hoping you don’t have many nights at work like the one in this video. Cheers! John
I love the prospective at the start and would love to see more I always look forwards to your videos
Hi Dale, we all have off days. Passengers can be annoying sometimes. As a retired bus driver, I sympathise. Look forward to the next video.
A real professional mate .. love the vids
Great stuff!!! Love this kind of content!
Many thanks for the long video, dale. Hope you’re well. Lovely and relaxing.
Very interesting, and thanks for showing us when things are not normal as well as the routine trips.
A very interesting insight into the problems of train operating. I watched it all!
I felt your pain Dale... Love your Videos sir... All the best...
Dale an interesting journey with you every trip is different great stuff thankyou
Thanks Dale. You guys do an amazing job.
Hey! We have to say thank you for these amazing videos. And Im always soo happy if u crossing Turnpike lane, that was my homestop many years long. Keep going! Take care!
Thank you Dale for a very interesting video👍
Best ride yet Dale! well at least for the viewers maybe. Absolutely fascinating listening to your explanations of the many procedures you have do.
I look forward to your next video! 👍
Thank you I appreciate it I also appreciate you support
Thanks for the hard work. Driving a train is no walk in the park 😊
Another great video, I don't blame you on getting a bit aggravated with folks hanging in door when your ready to leave. You handle it well and politely ( the 1st time) 2nd time a bit more stern. Makes total sense to me.. Good to learn how a few simple issues can cause so many backups and problems. Also dispatch having to change so many trains and drivers on a whim.. Thanks again!!
No need to apologize for seeming grumpy, I actually appreciate it when operators get salty with people holding the door
The video was brilliant Dale. You did an excellent job handling the unexpected events during your shift. Was really interesting viewing. Thanks for sharing it.
Love these videos very informative and just generally very good 👍🏿 , There used to be a Free Downloadable game called BVE years ago and the Piccadilly line was one of the routes on there amazing how detailed it was for it's time ,
