Lots of great work this month! I hope Autodesk can give the dev teams more support though, so many more features we need in base Max, like smoke and fire volumes. Students need to be able to make cool basic stuff without buying Fume FX. Also Arnold needs to render MikkT Normal maps correctly. Thanks as always for these great videos.
Maybe we'll get Bifrost eventually? Maya has it, it might not be as popular as Houdini, but it's modern and very powerful - you can do all kinds of VFX related stuff with it without resorting to plugins, which is very beneficial for the user in my book. Plugins should be available for those who want an even faster or more robust solution, not a mandatory purchase.
Not really, it's an Autodesk thing. They don't want two of their softwares competing in the same fields, hence reducing their profits. Also Maya went off in the past decade in film and games studios due to lack of competition and autodesk putting softimage on the shelf same as how 3ds max went off in Archviz and slowly was seen less and less in games and films for a few exceptions, ubisoft used to use for example as their main dcc now they have moved to Maya and blender..in that time blender wasn't even talked about. 3ds Max is a bit outdated in terms of workflows and user experience. Hence the majority are preferring Maya for destructive workflow and houdini for non destructive workflows.
Max Only for architecture visualization !😅 architecture industry market size about 2400 Billion US Dollar(only North American area 2024.) architecture might be the biggest industry in this planet bro. Autodesk through the “autocad” architecture business standard language became dominator in the visual industrial area。
Hey any idea why 3ds Max is so full of abandon ware? Hair&Fur, prooptymizer, massfx, cloth and I can go on... all of those systems weren't updated for a decade or so.. Do they really lack resources or will to make 3ds Max better?
it has been discussed many times. It is due to their commitment to backward compatibility. At least as far as they are responsible, 3dsmax is one of the few software out there that you can open a file you created 25 years back without having any issues. Everything works as it should. And there are countless such files out there in asset stores and personal libraries in agencies, game and VFX studios.
@@keelfly Yeah, cool, glad to hear that! But my question is, why aren't they improving it? They could have a "Legacy" option and just move on. Hair & Fur in 3ds Max is such an abomination, as is the cloth system and many other features. I understand that you can open a file from 20 years ago and it still works, which is important for large companies. However, you can't tell me they can't add a new Hair & Fur + / 2 / Improved / PRO whatever... system, especially since they have like six "Optimize" modifiers.
Hi ,I used the Phoenix plugin from chaos for 3Ds Max. I want to buy a new computer with a processor that speeds up the Phoenix Simulating faster . What category should I choose, Intel or AMD? thank you
I am trying to get alpha png render in all versions of 3ds max with *ARNOLD RENDER*. but the background that should be transparent.. but there is closed with envoirment. can anyone help me with this question?
Autodesk is making it easier to work with adobe, and adobe is making it easier to work with Autodesk, and that just made it easy that I don't work with either - screw subscriptions, they're the death of the smaller artist.
@cmog6036 this is software that has over time turned into a hodgepodge of old and strange functions, on top of which new ones are added, and it turns out that we have software that is no longer flexible or user-friendly, only probably it is good at architectural visualization
@@hound_of_justice only archviz, but this is inaccurate, I worked in different studios in Moscow where there was never a 3ds max, always either a cinema or a blender, and Houdini for simulations that cannot be done without it
Nice! Thank you very much Eloi for featuring our new Camera Clipping Pro plugin! ❤

Thanks for the updates!
But that made you comment ;]
"Max is only for Archiviz" is a Blender user concept 🤣
actually a maya concept that Blender copied as it has done with many max features and PR mottos :D

3ds Max is more relevant in the game industry than Blender and Houdini combined, even more in archviz.
