  • If you are looking to get an office job in the Army then here are 5 office or desk jobs that the US Army has. Just be aware that even though you work in an office, you are still an army soldier so you still have a lot of the basic army requirements that must be met.

As a 94B (cook 1988-1992) The Mess Sergeant. Always took a private out of the kitchen and put that private in the office. He was the office boy. He did all the office crap that the Sgt. did not want to do. Typing, do the running around the Bn for the messhall, and much more. Most likely the private could kiss ass to anyone and get what the messhall need.

27D, 42A, 68G and 92A are my top 4 office jobs in the Army so far, but I’m also gonna look into 68J as well, so far I told my recruiter that I got some college credits(54 Credits) and I only got three classes left to get my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and I think if I had gotten 27D having an associates degree would be beneficial even though it’s not required

Best job ever is signal. You can spend all the time in the field if you want or spend time in an office. Eitherway if you're good at your job you'll be treated like a king. "Good morning SGT there's something wrong with my pay." "Come right in, let me look into this. Btw i have a problem with email". Fix it. Pays fixed. Anyone you talk to will have IT problems. If you really provide comms you'll be skating. Working, but skating. BTW nice bonuses.

lol, Finance was absolutely the first thing I thought of. Most office jobs are still in a combined arms BN in a BCT. Finance has their own command with basically no physical expectations. I went to BLC with one several years ago and his "deployment" was managing the finances of the PX in Kuwait.

Just like what Christopher said. A desk job won't get you out of training. We were a Personnel Office, and we would close every Thursday for what was called Sergeant's Time which was GMT all morning and PMCS at the Motor Pool in the afternoon.
It also won't get you out of the endless details that come down from the Garrison Commander, the Orderly Room, Bn HQ, etc. etc. etc. We rarely were at full strength because we were constantly tasked to provide "bodies" for landscaping, sandbag filling, cleaning buildings, moving shit from Point A to Point B and back to Point A again, inventorying Conex boxes, putting rounds in magazines, police call along a 50-mile stretch of road, all kinds of thankless crap...

After spending years working my ass off inside a motor pool where I'm pulling shit out of the same connexes, looking at it, and putting the stuff back in a connex, and after years of working my ass off hurting my back in a dfac, an office job really sounds appealing.

2:26 "there probably is still some field time" Remember folks, this is not the Air Force, but the Army. You most likely at some point would still have to sit in the woods for a few weeks without a shower and freeze/sweat for that time. Especially depending on what type of unit you're in and what type of command and division. If you are in FORSCOM you'll really be getting the green weenie in your butt at some point. Last time I was in the field in November, we had finance folks complain about sitting in the field doing completely bullshit for a month and one of them was like "if I wanted to do this shit I would have signed up for infantry. I signed for finance so I wouldn't have to do this" Oh well.
