(I'm guessing you already know this but just in case. ) You may want to read less than 25 pages a day on DFW if you didn't include the footnotes in the count. Some of the footnotes in the book are pages long. And even though they seem arbitrary, they truly are important to the book. (tiny FYI the back and forth of the story to the footnotes kinda resembles a tennis game) I would be interested in the Vanity Fair and Daniel Deronda buddy reads. Will you be using voxer or email for the discussions? Also, when you do a buddy read is it casual? As in just chat about the story or will it be a deeper analyzing of the book? I apologize for all the questions ;-)
Evening, I think you are absolutely right about his 150 pages of comments. If he wrote them, they are part of the book and should be counted in… so we are looking at 600 pages per month… I have never used voxer, so have no idea how it works. Previously, there were so few people wanting to buddy read with me that we just used an Instagram PM to communicate daily but since there are so many people who would like to do so this time, I will have to find a new way. Any ideas will be most welcomed. For Vanity Fair I have 16 ppl form Russia who are interested. I think I might do daily posts on Instagram and write what I think about the book up to that point. That way everyone will be able to see each other thoughts or just follow mine. Hat do you think? I will always write in two languages.
Ana - bb03aav Not sure about the best way to do a larger buddy read. I usually just Skype the discussions but I don’t think that would work for a group. Maybe, google groups or docs would work for everyone.
Hi, I thought about it more and decided to try Instagram. I can post once every couple of days for each book and that way most people will be able to share their thoughts as well or just read them sometimes. This will also work better for people if they read slower or if they are not sure they would want to share their thoughts every time. I think with 42 people this might work better. I find Instagram to be the best option to be honest, it's very simple to use and majority of people have it 👍🏻
