    If your a reader and like Land Rovers , Id recommend a book called 'Earth My Friend' by Peter Townsend (ex Battle Of Britain ace, was engaged to Princess Margaret, features in The Crown tv series) . He took off in a Land Rover and drove around the world solo in the 50s, amazing story of man and machine and remote regions of the world only a land rover could reach.

      Range - the question no one ever asks when it’s about ICE cars.

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@energiewender143 In all fairness, range is _very_ much on my mind when I plan a trip through the remote corners of Namibia, where I live, and drive an ICE Toyota Land Cruiser. Given how hard it is to recharge an EV across large swathes of this country, range considerations need to be at the forefront of any overland journey.

    • @dwerg85
      @dwerg85 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@energiewender143 Yes they do... That's what MPG is all about. Range. But with gas you can also just throw a jerry can in the back of your jeep and you have something for when you forget to look at the fuel gauge. Can't do that with electric. Coupled with charging stations being harder to find it's not surprising that range anxiety is still a thing. When we get there people will stop fretting about it.

    • @DazBochiz
      @DazBochiz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    If only I had the money. I’d get my hands on a Land Rover Perentie and get it converted- for those perhaps not familiar, the Perentie is the Australian Army, locally manufactured version. Usually a 110. They had a number of upgrades (apparently a design requirement was being able to hang them under a helicopter, from one corner without excessive frame bending) such as updated axels and an Isuzu diesel.
    Edit: the 4x4 was Natural aspirated. 6x6 was turbo, and it’s still a good idea to beef up the axels as suggested in another video.

      A friend and guy I work with here in Perth has two of the 6x6 versions unrestored and a bit rough but running, they've been rescued from being used for desert exploration/prospecting work. They will get restored but he's a purist I doubt they'll end up electric.

I'm not sure why, maybe it's TH-cam's compression doing funny things to edges, or just that I'm not used to seeing you in such bright sunshine, but in some shots of you driving against the fields and houses, I had the feeling of a greenscreen shot. It could also have been because your sound quality is quite impressive for being in a car at speed with open sides and a soft top.
