  • My first Jam on the Push 3 Standalone.
    Testing out its capabilities for improvising and not so as a controller or full on production suite. Mapped my PC4 to some parameters and as an 8 step sequencer for the Fors Lode M4L device.
    If you got any questions feel free to ask.

    Very cool to watch you play the tr8s x faderfox. Spawning some ideas ... especially the tiny, gradual, and rapid volume increases here and there. Good stuff.

    Loved the vid! Good job!
    I'm currently running a similar setup, i'm having trouble to sync push 3 and tr8s would you be able to share some knowledge on how you did it. Are you doing it "dawless" or use a pc as a masterclock ?

    • @slavasoloma
      @slavasoloma  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks a lot. You have to set the MIDI Clock compensation for the TR8s by -24ms in the MIDI setup and it will be perfectly in sync (Standalone Mode).

    Really nice ! I got a few questions for you as a P3S user with a few hardware boxes to integrate with it.
    - Who's your "master clock" ?
    - How are these "connected" ? Is the audio out from the TR8S going In the Push 3 ?
    - Are you facing any delay issues ?
    I would like to have my Syntakt and Digitakt In the P3S (and having it as master clock to avoid as much as possible sync issues... I used to use the Digitakt as "master clock" and Ableton 11 as an "FX Box" for it but it was a pain to sync them correctly)

    • @slavasoloma
      @slavasoloma  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No sync issue at all if you configure your midi latency inside Ableton Live and transfer the project to the push standalone. Push is the master clock in this case. TRS is running into the push with some compression and FX.

      @@slavasoloma cool thanks ! Do you also use Push to sequence the TR8S or are you using its own sequencer ?

      @@technolover3035 I use the TR8S sequencer but in the future I would like to play patterns from the Push as the Sequencer on the push ( Drum Rack is more hands on)

    Great set! Which sequencer are you controlling by mapping the pc4 as an eight-step sequencer? Thanks!

      Thanks. I use the the ml-185 8 step sequencer. sequencing both pitch and velocity

    Are all the drums from the TR-8S? And the rumble?

    • @technolover3035

      Would like to know it too : How's the rumble done ?

    • @slavasoloma
      @slavasoloma  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have a custom rack for the rumble. It’s just a random sequencer + a filtered 909 low tom + sidechain compression. I like it quite rough so I added some overdrive from the filter too

      @whatistau 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@slavasoloma can you do sidchain compression inside push 3, like maybe to use auto filter for sidechain etc.

      @@whatistau yeah that's actually what I am doing. Works perfect but I prefer to use the m4l shaper device because it does not add the pop the classic side chain compression does and works even if the kick is not playin

    This is an awesome track with a characterful full sound. I do have few questions and it would greatly help me in purchasing some stuff from Faderfox. Allow me to explain.
    1. Sometimes I see people jamming in Ableton with PC4 (your model) which can go from 1 to 127 in values (for this example). But sometimes I see people use Faderofx EC4 which rotary push encoders (they are not limited from left to right). What I am confused about and what I am about to ask you is why are you using PC4 when you have knobs on the top row at the Push? I was thinking about it and the only explanations I could come up with are: you use PC4 because you love it, you use it because knobs are different (not encoder type like on Push or EC4) therefore they are more suited and feel right for live usage. Is that it?
    As you can see I am a bit stumped as to why people use these small Faderfox boxes while at the same time, their Push encoders are unused. Note: I am not questioning your workflow or sanity, I am trying to understand do I need Faderfox which is praised a lot because I am about to buy Push 3 but for the life can't understand why people use Faderfox in their sets while Push knobs are being unused.
    2. Start of your track. Awesome kick and bassline. I understand where the bassline is coming from but what about the kick? Asking because Kickfader on your TR-8 is down so I assume this is some sample in Ableton? Awesome mixing and energy btw.
    3. Are the effects in your set just some sort of grouped FX's you predefined and then mapped to your PC4 for this specific example and then you play with for example dry wet macros which are mapped to PC4?
    Thanks in advance and keep releasing these awesome-sounding tracks!!!

      Thank you. I Appreciate.
      TBH the Faderfox is my only Midi Controller and I used it with my former Octatrack for some hands on control. I Think its necessary to have some Pots in your setup just to see the position of the Pot and for. I had the push for 2 days when I recorded the Video so I have to learn it. In my new Video I will post today you can see more push 3 action.
      The TR8S ist just there for percussion I dint had the time to build some racks in Ableton. Just plugged all in an recorded. The Kick is a 909 Sample + Rumble Instrument I have build with Ableton devices.
      The FX are Mapped to the PC4 I have some dedicated chains for producing an I love the fact that I now can use these FX in a live context without spending a lot of money an cables on FX pedals.

    Is the extra $$ of the push 3 worth it over a used mc707 for $600 ?

    • @slavasoloma
      @slavasoloma  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you know and love the Ableton live workflow and want to play standalone with it ist totally worth it. The MC707 is not my cup of tea because don’t like the workflow at all so I am kind of biased. Push 3 Standalone is much more than a 707 could be because of the modular nature of Ableton live. It can be everything you want it to be so I think it’s more comparable with an MPC X or Maschine+!
