Came for the gear, stayed for the originals. Wow your tracks are freaking stunning these mixes and production are just a pleasure, great work! I’m all in your Spotify now.
It’s a great trio!!! ❤❤❤ Only problem is, every time I see one of your vids, I wonder whether I should have got the coloured Matriarch instead (The grass is always multicoloured, on the other side … 😏🙃). Appreciate you being upfront about the TEO … even if it seemed obvious it wouldn’t be staying, from the moment it arrived … you’d have to really love it’s bright sound, TZ FM and, what - slightly updated digital FX? - to hold onto it, with both the X8 and the 6 there, already?! All the best for 2025, Devin, and may it bring more honesty/transparency from ALL TH-camrs … !! 🤞🏼💫 Happy Festivus/Solstice Season, to everyone! ☀️
Haha I sometimes wish I got the dark one 😂 grass is always greener. Thanks Kieran! Appreciate the comments and support. Agreed it’s important to be transparent. See you in 2025!!
Nice video! You’re going to absolutely love the SuperGemini. It’s such an inspiring instrument to play. The poly-aftertouch keybed is the best I‘ve tried so far. All the sliders and knobs feel great. The sound quality is exquisite and the sound palette quite versatile as well. It‘s a classic synth that you probably would never sell once you own one. I wish I had one. 🙂
Thank you! I’m seriously so hyped. It was a really hard choice since I can only get one right now between Muse, SupGem, Polybrute 12 and a Prophet 10. Your comment makes me excited!
Great job explaining what the first pedal actually does and why it's so great. I watched it three times to make sure I didnt miss anything and sure enough, I didn't.
Unfortunately, becuase I live in the Arctic of Canada, i cant carry big sized synths. So today, i stopped by Long n Mcquade and purchased the Korg Multi/poly and i love it. Wishing everyone a Merry Xmas. 😊
Wow! Which province? I am in BC, and I love going up North-ish, but have never made it to any of the northern provinces . Multi poly looks sick! I didn’t get to try it this year
@@devinbelangermusic Hi Miles, i have been following your channel for sometime now. The most obvious reason is because, I started getting into analog synth or synth in general. I live in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Keep up your great work and Music. I moved from Toronto, and its been 14 years now. Hopefully someday may be we can get the music Association in Iqaluit to sponser you to come up and visit the great Canadian Arctic. 😊
loved the solar synth at superbooth. not just sounds but looks like something from the future. its on the list. the team at the stand were one of the friendliest there and superbooth is v chilled. thankyou for the vid.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! I always enjoy your videos and I’ve bought at least two pieces of gear (Meraki and TEO-5) based on your videos. Look forward to more in 2025! Oh, and that OB-X8 can do the Bladerunner brass! Wow.
Merry xmas to you too! I'm so glad you found my videos useful! That is a genuinely great combo, the only thing missing is a studio cat to complete the setup 😂 which I think we both have. See you in 2025!
Nice jam at the end. Very Bladeunner-y. Interesting you opted to play that lead patch on OB when you have Deckart's Dream:) I agree with your list of top gear (for the most part, I haven't tried Polyend compressor).
@ aaah got it. Well it makes sense using 12 db filter too:) I mean that patch is universal, can be done on any synth - two slightly detuned saws (if synth allows for the multiple wave shapes at the same time sometimes it’s cool to add a little PWM square in one layer just to beef it up), then play with envelope settings.. the only thing that makes CS/DD sound so special is that shark fin saw - but it’s a tiny difference:) great stuff, love your channel and also, shoutout to Mr. Hosking. Happy holidays mate, all the best in 2025.!
My favorite purchases of 2024 were the Oberheim TEO-5 and the Erica Synths Nightverb. The piece of gear that stayed the shortest time before being returned was the Behringer UB-Xa. Stayed less than 24 hours.
@@devinbelangermusic I found the sound to be very thin. A real OB-XA’s circuit boards took up the entire case. In a UB-XA this is all condensed to a tiny circuit board. This eliminates all the temperature and tolerance fluctuations found in a classic analog synth, instead they mimic this through atrophy settings. It’s just not the same. The moment I turned on and played a TEO-5 it blew the UB-Xa away. The reality is Behringer’s clones are not exact clones, they are value engineered facsimiles.
Nice improv at the end! Question though: I love the way your keyboards are positioned on the stand. I have the Matriarch & Rev2 myself but found it to be too deep for most stands. Which stand do you have there (if i may ask)?
I have a weirdly specific question :). Some time back I ran an unspectacular SH101 style bass patch I created on a Roland SH-4d (which is ZencCore, meaning humdrum by default) through the compressor of the MercuryX. I was like holy crap, I don't get results like that through any of my software based compressors, even though digital it just added magic sauce, it transformed the sound. After that experience I was wondering what it would sound like through the Polyend Press. Is it like that? Magic sauce on anything you want punch on? Or is the real value just in the tactile knobs, etc. Thanks for any opinions you can share Miles
No! Honestly I find the Press is very subtle, but it does make everything sound subtly better and it’s easy to dial in (same with clean). To me, the only compressors that just made me go “wow” are my API and Empirical Labs rack compressors. These pedals do sound easily better than most plugs though!
What kind of track is on Bloom's review???!) My absolutely favorite synth of 2024 is TwistFM by TE🖤 It's just space, it's very strange that people don't notice it.
The track is an original song I made for my Big Sky MX demo! I might release it as a bonus track on my upcoming album, I really like it but it doesn’t fit the story of the main album songs :)
Can you please tell me what you’re using to do your conventional sounding drums in your songs? They sound very crisp with a nice dynamic range to them…great video.
@@Mikeg73070 it’s all about layering and learning to listen to what will work in the mix. If you want good sample recommendations: Oliver and Mixwave samples are the best
TEO-5 is a great synth, but as with Take 5 I wish they had done a desktop instead. Also neither will ever get polychain, MPE response, or bi-timbrality which is an unfortunate 100% marketing and not design engineer decision. Redshift 6 and Artemis are not out yet, but for what I want in that price range it is likely either would get my money before the also great Oberheim.
I didn’t know about never getting MPE! That is a shame. I will hold out hope; they originally said no MPE for the x8 and now it has it right? Also Artemis looks cool. No promises, but I might be getting one sent to review, I will 100% give my thoughts vs TEO/Take5
@@devinbelangermusic anything is possible, but it will be a marketing decision around differentiation with the 6 voice synths. Artemis looks like a fantastic design for those who like to "ride sliders" while playing. I wish they had found a way to fit a dedicated set for both filter and amp...
Teo-5 ftw ! You really don't need the teo-5 if you are getting the udo and already have a ob8x. I stopped dealing with the B fan base for a number of reasons , best not even acknowledge the company exists, you can’t win on either side of the argument as a TH-camr or in forums.
They’re both great synths. They have a different sound though…TEO-5 has more “classic Oberheim” in it while OB-6 is more modern, its own thing. Feature sets are quite different too.
Fair question, ilovecats answered it though. They are truly really different. The TEO is actually way more similar sounding to the X8. Check out my big Oberheim comparison video to see for yourself!
