Great tip! Have tried doing something similar pre CO 12 but the new luminance mask makes it much better. I find the results you were getting in CO more natural than in Photoshop where it was much too blue.
Adam Richardson, Agree. I found that Adobe’s dehaze has to be used in small amounts or it gets unnatural looking quickly. The C1 workaround looks better to me.
Thanks for the tip! I was just using Clarity and Contrast to Dehaze my photos with little luck. Love the idea to make it into a Style to use it again quickly. Your tip should just be a built-in feature for C1!
@@ared18t Which video are you referring too? This video th-cam.com/video/bo1NdQRWKXA/w-d-xo.html is similar to this one and he's using 3 layers. So I need a link to your non-layered technique.
I'd like to know why adding the new filled layer has to be done manually. Is there not a method of automatically arriving at our final "slider" (opacity slider in this case) in one simple click? What used to be called a macro?
Brilliant video! I'm not fond on Lightroom dehaze slider because often, as you said, it doesn't look natural. Even if it takes a bit more time I prefer C1 big time.
Thanks so much, Thomas ! That's a very helpful technique and you laid it out so that even folks like me who are still waking up can understand how to do it. : )) Slainte !
Thanks. Very useful as I'm considering switching from LR to C1. I actually like the method in C1 as the tones across the image are more even, whereas in the ACR version look too dark and the back part that was hazy, is now darker than the foreground (maybe it's because you pushed the dehaze all the way to +100 in ACR), but the C1 version actually looks more natural to me.
Thanks Thomas, it works well. My problem is that when I have saved it and want to apply it to another image it doesn’t appear in the user styles? Any ideas ?
Super good tip! Thank you :D I'm new to this channel, so now I'm a follower! Fun thing - when you say Layer, for me as English is not my native language, it sounded as Lair (yes I'm a gamer as well!)...
I think you might be able to do it with Apple Script, but I’m not sure how to do it. I’m looking into it though. Not sure there’s any way on a PC though
Actually, that one got me too at first. But it turns out that the saturation slider in capture one actually behaves like vibrancy does in Lightroom. To get a more traditional slider you use the all colours swatch in the colour editor. When someone told me this ages ago I didn’t believe them until I looked it up and it’s in the manual. I don’t think it’s exactly the same as vibrancy but it’s the same theory, and results are broadly similar. It might make a good quick tip video though so I might look at doing that
Hi Thomas. Love your videos on TH-cam, I’m one of your subscribers. I can’t see a vide about styles on my issue so wonder if you could do a vid on how I might set one up. My aim is to produce a few Styles to try and replicate styles of some well known photographers. For example, for Joel Meyerowitz, I know what changes to make in my Fujifilm jpeg settings, such as...Film: Pro Neg High, Grain: Weak, Highlights: -1, Shadows: +1, Colour: -2, Sharpness: +1, and Noise Reduction: -2. but I need to replicate those settings as a ‘User Style’ for my RAW editing. Grateful for your advice please on how I can set this up in Capture One Pro 12.
thank you you did a credible job, however Capture 1 has some ancient software algorithms; the lack of de haze is just one of them, removal of multiple objects requiring separate layers is another archaic way to do it. Too many out of date software modules. They are way behind the technology curve...
C1 is not intuitive. C1 is LAGGY when applying changes even on an i7 cpu. C1 only looks at the first folder - not subfolders when importing. AND WHERE IS THE HISTORY PANEL? fail. also no dehaze (despite your attempt its not). PLUS you also have to name all your layers. work. work. work. Makes lightroom seem easy.
Really useful video but maybe the guys at capture one should stop being lazy and just create a single step de-haze function................just sayin😂 +1 sub!
Great little tip and it actually produces a significantly better result than the Adobe offering.
Not only is this a great tip, but it also teaches you how Dehaze works in general i.e. it's just combination of a few other adjustments.
It looks much better than the lightroom one even!
Thanks Tom....excellent tutorial!
Amazing tip simple and easy to understand. Thank you
Very cool and clear ! Thanks a lot !!
Terrific stuff Tom, appreciated. Can't wait for your updated C1 book 😉
Thank you Thomas very good tip! Looks even better and more natural then the Adobe version!
Looks better.. thank you very much

very useful, thanks for sharing
Your advice has helped a lot because that was one of the only thing I wish Capture One had. Thanks a lot! Excellent!
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Great tip! I’ll give it a try right now

Look at Anthony morganti editing a waterfall with capture one he shows you a completely different method no layers.

What great info and presentation and examples. The style tip is especially helpful. Thanks.
Just found this. Thanks hugely!
wow! you really know this tool!
great tip

A really good tip, presented simply and very clearly . Thank you!
This worked great in v12 but has weird results with v20. Do you also find this? Care to provide some new Dehaze and Texture recipes for v20? Thanks!
Working on it :-)
Thanks for these videos! Very informative and on point.
Very helpful as I like dehaze in LR. Thank you.
That's a good technique Thomas and using the style cuts down on the hassle. Not a one slider fix as in LR or PS but this still works well
Thanks so much, Thomas ! That's a very helpful technique and you laid it out so that even folks like me who are still waking up can understand how to do it. : )) Slainte !
I never knew this!! Thank you!!!!!
Glad to be of help :-)
Thanks for this interesting video Thomas!

This actually makes me find dehaze to look a bit cheap. Nice vid
good tip
Thank you so much for this tip! So useful.
Great Job, Thomas, Could you do some thing, on the Keystone Capture One 20 Tool, if you get a chance, Thanks
Nice! Really appreciate it!
Great tip - thanks!
Thanks Thomas, it works well. My problem is that when I have saved it and want to apply it to another image it doesn’t appear in the user styles? Any ideas ?

Teriffic video. Thanks so much.
Thanks. Now I know what that dehaze filter I keep hearing about actually does! :-)

superb, many thanks. just wondering is there any way of automating the layer luma range?

Hi, great tip.
In the same idea, do you have one to get vibrance control from LR instead of only C1 saturation ?
Thanks a lot.

great video!! a did see you hade the "Kodak Everyday Styles Pack" do you like it?
It's interesting. I'm planning on doing a review at some point so stay tuned
thanks!
liking the C1 result better than Adobe's... the CameraRaw dehaze is too Blue and saturated for my liking
Would it be possible to not dehaze but haze? In lightroom the slider is possible to move to the opposite direction which causes haze.
I’m sure it is. Just need to figure out the right combination- I would imagine what I’ve done here but with the opposite values
@@thomasfitzgerald thanks for the video btw :D Good inspections there.

You have a same tips with CO 11 please
Unfortunately you need 12 for this as it has the Luminance masking feature

why don't they just put a stupid dehaze button. so...lame.
Nice trick. Still, Phase One has dropped the ball here by not including a simple tool.

Agree. Why are they lazy when it's us who should be able to be lazy. In all seriousness.
Thank you!!!
