    what's the wizard doing behind the curtain for Pro Standard vs Manufacturer generic profile?

    • @StudioBuilder
      @StudioBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't question the wizard. We just do as the wizard says.

      @@StudioBuilder But why absolutely zero explanation for what makes the ProStandard profile superior? Surely we can at least discuss why we want to do this? Tbh, I want to know what's going on behind the curtain but even if we're not going there a simple explanation for why the result is better is the minimal level of explanation people should ask for?

    • @StudioBuilder
      @StudioBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Then you should ask Capture One. I don't have an answer for you.

      @cichlisuite2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@StudioBuilder Ok, sure. But you said "always select ProStandard"? So you don't know why but we should always do it? Did Capture One or someone else say "you should always select this"?

      It's better. Do a comparison for yourself. I don't understand the math behind it but it's always better. Or don't. It doesn't matter to me. It's your business.

    Wished you spoke more on that single pixel thingy... Like how does 1 differ from say 100 and to expect in the output

    Do you change the noise to a single pixel even if you can't see dead pixels? Apologies if that's a stupid question. I've never noticed any dead pixels.... I'm not sure if I want to look now 😆I love the filters tip.

    Thanks for the tips. I've tried changing the ICC profile and saving it as default for my camera, but C1 doesn't seem to save it. Any suggestions?

    • @StudioBuilder
      @StudioBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      C1 doesn't use ICC profiles. Change the Base Characteristics to ProStandard if available for your camera. Then select the three dots and save as defaults for your camera.

    I am not convinced there is a rash of dead pixels on sensors. Perhaps there is a brand I am unfamiliar with that has common pixel failures, but generally speaking a dead pixel is a result of an issue with the memory card. I have had numerous hot/dead pixels over the years and every time without fail a new memory card eliminated the issue. Before setting a default value to fix I would suggest a few things. Is the dead pixel the same on every shot? Yes. Well - there may be a sensor issue (still not guaranteed) - but if it is consistent and on every shot then have a camera shop or the manufacturer diagnose the issue (after you have tried the suggestion below}. Is a dead pixel sporadic and in different places? Yes. Try a new memory card or try a full format or even run a file system check.

      Memory cards have nothing to do with dead pixels or hot pixels. It's completely sensor related and unavailable. Many sensors don't make the cut when going through QA so they don't even make it to the market. A quick Google search will explain this in greater depth.
      What you're experiencing with memory cards would be more akin to bad sectors or corrupt cards, not dead pixels on a sensor.
