There are two pokemon speedrun records, one using the glitch, one with no glitching, so in one case glitches are within the rules.

Glitches are often harder to pull off than playing the game normally For example, wall jumping in the original Super Mario Bros. You can do it, but the timing is extremely precise and missing it tends to cost far more time than you save by pulling it off.

There are different categories for most speed runs. Most games have at least 2 categories. Any% speedruns is the category that is basically "get to the end of game as fast as possible only using the game and not any external help". The other category is Any% no glitches which is exactly how it sounds.

I don't think you can speed-run in RPGs without leveling up. It doesn't matter how quick, strong, or skilled you are with your character. The boss WILL ALWAYS HAVE "tricks" up their sleeve. And it WILL BE those "tricks" that WILL cost you the game. In other words... "GAME OVER, MAN! GAME OVER!"

the Zelda game you listed can be beaten faster by gliching in between the main level and the second level by a staircase near the start of the castle, its easier to do and you then just walk in between the two floors all the way past Gannon into the tri-force room. I do not remember how you do it i just know it can be done
There is a faster way to beat Zelda link to the past. Do everything normal then once you get inside the castle go up to the ledge in the top left corner. Jump off but half way in jumping you need to save and quit. Load the game back up then go back in the castle, go to the stairs in the left side of the first room ( the one you use to get to the ledge ) and go to the room on the right. Tap on the wall to get the gards attention. After doing this run up to the wall and push up against it. When he hits you keep pushing against the wall and you will glitch into it. Go all the was up. There are a few points were you have to move over to the left one or go over to the right. But if you do it correctly while moving through the wall you will run past gannon and then a second gannon and the game will role the credits. Ive done this in about 1 min and 24 sec.
Sonic the hedgehog on the sega Genesis can be beaten in less than 5 minutes. During the title screen while sonic is waving his finger press up, down, left, right, and A and start at the same time a little bit slowly and you will be transported to the level select screen. Then just select final zone and beat eggman and then after the outro animation the credits will roll

I did it, many time in fact. when trying to beat the game pokemon stadium on N64 using a self made team i did it with pikachu (then at lvl 100 i traded to blue to evolve him) i also did with only nidoran male, charmander and magikarp. of course i was catching them as soon as possible and then from there only using them. sad part of that story is after i did it, a friend of mine explain to me the infinite rare candy glitch with pokemon stadium.

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. As soon as you leave the sewers, go to the central province in the very centre of Imperial City, the domed building. Use the console command to noclip through the floor, under the floor is a door. This door will take you to the interior of the same building but at the end of the game when Mehrunes Dagon attacks. Go outside and watch the ending.
Console commands aren't allowed in any speedrun category. The current world record uses the game not checking collision while loading in order to walk through the door into the building, then just opened the door inside.

I beat Sonic Advance in less than five minutes by skipping all the way to The Moon Zone via level selection screen.
Sonic the hedgehog on the sega Genesis can be beaten in less than 5 minutes. During the title screen while sonic is waving his finger press up, down, left, right, and A and start at the same time a little bit slowly and you will be transported to the level select screen. Then just select final zone and beat eggman and then after the outro animation the credits will roll

Well I know that shantae risky revenge is the shortest game in the shantae series and can be beat In less than an hour but at least they fixed all the problems in the first shantae game.

I did it, many time in fact. when trying to beat the game pokemon stadium on N64 using a self made team i did it with pikachu (then at lvl 100 i traded to blue to evolve him) i also did with only nidoran male, charmander and magikarp. of course i was catching them as soon as possible and then from there only using them. sad part of that story is after i did it, a friend of mine explain to me the infinite rare candy glitch with pokemon stadium.

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. As soon as you leave the sewers, go to the central province in the very centre of Imperial City, the domed building. Use the console command to noclip through the floor, under the floor is a door. This door will take you to the interior of the same building but at the end of the game when Mehrunes Dagon attacks. Go outside and watch the ending.
Console commands aren't allowed in any speedrun category.
The current world record uses the game not checking collision while loading in order to walk through the door into the building, then just opened the door inside.
