NRG is the Valorant eSports depiction of every student at the start of the year versus a week before the exam starting. Doing rather bad at school in both cases, but at least they are locked in to at least try and pass.
The only thing is they may not make it to play offs because of those 2 losses and now they can't lose a match if they do then their chances are really lost
FNS' low frag games feel like they're casting a bronze make-a-wish kid living out his dying dream of playing a VCT match. Every kill he gets is met with unbridled shock. There he goes, little Pujan, playing from his hospital bed with the shaky 1K spraydown, a one-off, a miracle, the hand of god at work.

How to see his tracker
The first round on lotus that you showed, NRG are actually completely setup for the c exec. They know Raze has ult so they’re trying to play back after the conditioning off Victor where he’s agressed DEEP through Mound and into spawn many round by now. With the Clove oneway at the start of the round it makes Sentinels cautious of pushing Mound early so Zekken decides to ult to clear but S0m is ready and is playing very far back.
What throws off the round is the fade ult and smokes on B, and Johnqt throws a deadlock wall elbow. FNS can’t rotate off C to help his team in time so S0m peeks to try to get a pick before they finish walking through the door. 3 players are still holding him because the B pressure was fake. S0m dies, Sentinels start executing C BUT now Ethan can’t rotate fast enough from B to C because of the Deadlock wall and Cypher dies on site because of this. This was a great round by both teams but the deadlock wall elbow is the reason NRG lost.
18:02 Not really apart of the analysis, but can I just say that we are so blessed to have Bren and Sideshow as commentators? Bren is genuinely elite at calling play-by-play, and Sideshow provides amazing analysis, as well as both of them being super funny. They’re literally my favorite commentating duo in ANY sport/esport. Absolutely love these guys.
I feel bad that Kru lost since they're my favorite team, but it's good to see NRG being somewhat back.
I was genuinely getting worried we might not win a game this split. The fact that they're in contention, even with specific circumstances being required is amazing
7:37 it makes a lot of sense. You just criticized them for banning haven and picking lotus. With very good reasoning. Haven is new back in the maps pool so teams have fewer reps on it.
NRG recognized they made a mistake in the first series and corrected it.
still there comp was...... i think sova or any other entry duelist would make this comp more competetive or you could also put fns on viper and have more stalling power.
yeah recognized it but then proceeds to choose one of the most horrific comps you can have on a 3 site map. I love nrg and fns in particular but pretty sure he was on something when he decided this comp is what will defeat g2.
Both you guys are talking about the comp. That’s not what i am talking about. I am talking about how TMV says their bans are bad against sen and they should have picked Haven. And then says it doesn’t make sense that they picked Haven in their second series. Both things can be true. NRG should pick Haven AND NRG picked a bad comp on Haven.
@@hastyscorpionthe problem is by the time they get to the G2 game, G2 has had wayyyy more time to scrim on haven than Sen had had. Not only that but the reason the picks don’t make sense together is because if you bring 2 new players in you’re gonna wanna know your map strengths and play to those *before your first actual pro game* - so to ban haven and then pick it but play it atrociously says ‘we don’t know what we’re doing’.
@@Theo-bb6pnabout Haven, the relative amount of practice is still favorable to NRG compared to other maps. While G2 had more time to scrim on Haven since NRG’s game against SEN, NRG had the same amount of time, and so time passing doesn’t make it more unfavorable for NRG in the case of Haven. Instead, it’d be other maps that have been in the rotation like Lotus where other teams have had an entire season to scrim other maps. NRG would comparatively have much better odds on Haven, where the other teams would have had started scrimming only recently, like them. It’s like there’s a race track for Haven, and all the cars started at the same time. G2 has been going, but so has every other team including NRG, whereas every other map is a track that’s been going on for a while and NRG got plopped in just recently. If Haven was actually more favorable compared to other maps because of similar prep time, that would remain true now after some time, at least so long as NRG are still adjusting. This is in response specifically to the statement that “G2 has had wayyyy more time to scrim on Haven than Sen had had.”
the key to them winning on ascent vs bind playing the old comps was that FNS and the optic core were there when both of those comps were created. they were a large part of why those comps were meta comps at the time (arguably top 3 teams for well over a year). the difference is one comp is still meta and one is not. of course they’ll still be one of the best teams on ascent running that comp.

If a lot of TMV criticism is on the comps and maps they chose for their first 2 games.. wouldnt that be on Chet? Isnt it the coaches job to make sure his team is playing / practicing correct agents / maps/ metas?

Def a coaching issue, he should be focusing on salvaging the rest of the season, not trying to make the meta
thats what i was thinking. im usually one to defend chet (diehard optic fan) but usually the coach would come up with the team comp, or if it was fns, it would be chet’s job to tell him “hey this meta literally doesn’t work today.” unacceptable.

In regards to the haven comp, I was listening to two interviews, one with Crashies and one with Chet, where they talked about picking the comp. They talked about how they had faced a different team who was playing the comp and was caught off guard by the comp so they stole it. The other big takeway i got was Chet praising Clove as an agent I who excels at lurking with their smokes.
Now I have my own personal opinions on the comp (certainly not defending it), but i just wanted to provide extra context to their haven pick.
At that point why not just use cypher instead of clove on haven? He can psuedo smoke and he lurks AND he has map control?

I think if NRG played kj instead of cypher during map 1 gainst kru they would have done better since they would have more info. Cypher's cam is useful but i rather have kj turret watching an area as well as having molly that can help with post plus ur only losing the cage.

On Haven, I don't understand why FNS didn't just put Vic on Cypher/KJ (or even Chamber) instead of Clove...
He literally pioneered the double senti comp on Haven years ago, I could very well see a modernized version (with Deadlock) working very well in 2024. Baffling comp, but I'm so glad they've turned things around. Genuinely hoping for NRG to make playoffs, cuz FNS and s0m are very easy to root for :)
Chet makes most of the decisions for agent strategy and map pool since he’s the coach, but FNS has expressed in stream with som making victor and Ethan both flex so they can have more versatility agent wise

I fully believe the whole plan was since they didn’t have the experience of playing much with each other they didn’t believe they could win straight up to Sen and g2 so they decided to try to catch them off guard with different maps and unquie comp hoping to be able to anti strat what they seen from them with them having no info on nrg. Didn’t work but if so I understand why coming in as the underdog

I think on the Haven composition NRG really needed Victor on Neon instead of Clove.
Kinda gotta wonder why are cloves smokes so short? It’s not like they recharge really quick and only two at a time. I feel like they could last as long as omen smokes and it wouldn’t even make the kit that much better.

The comp makes no sense with Clove specially for a map that is so BIG. Using Clove on a smaller map makes much more sense than a 3-site Map (which they did as well on Haven I think) in order to capitalize off of the smokes after Death. The haven comp even is odd cause none of the agents Synergize that well either with Deadlock's Seize or Clove's meddle (which while not the best still has combo potential).
I actually think NRG made an excellent showing against SEN. They were playing unconventional, experimental comps, had less than a month of practice together to make it work, and still almost took a map off the team that is either the best or second best in NA. Their showing against g2 was a lot more miserable, though.
I also think clove is a bit underrated here. I do agree that her lack of range and lack of smoke uptime is a problem, but she is much better at entry than any other smoker is. If your comp only has one duelist and you need someone to go in with the duelist and open up space, sending in clove first or second, with her heal on kill and pseudo phoenix ult, makes a lot of sense to me. Even if she dies she can still apply her smokes to the field later.
I think Harbor, Omen, and Viper all have their strengths in different situations, but I think if you just need someone to run in behind your duelist, Clove is by far the best controller for the job.
The reason they did well was I think because that was SEN first time playing against a neon in ages. Same with G2 their first match against C9 was scrappy. As time goes on they will look more dominant hopefully
So basically remove Chet…

IMO, NRG should probably stick to the simplest comps in the game. Their comps are so random and difficult to play, I'm sure they will play better if they play with simple comps because they will understand how they should be playing.
