    Shift + Spacebar is a quick way to toggle Return to Start Position on Stop

  • @csdstudio78
    @csdstudio78 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Even as an old Logic user myself, I never used spacebar for transport controls. I use the numpad Enter (play), 0 (stop); both Logic and Cubase behave the same here: 0 stops in place, hit 0 again and it returns back to where you started. Not saying this is better, but just a way that gives you the option to do either stop in place or return to start using a quick double stop.

    Thanks for this video. I've been using Cubase for so long that most of my processes are routine. Sometimes there are easier ways to do things that I've been doing, even with basic workflow. Tutorial videos are often specialized when maybe I just need a simple puzzle piece to really improve my game.

    John, great stuff. Thank you for adding these tips for even those of us who have use Cubase for a long time. There's a lot to the interface as you know. I've already added a couple of these to my Cubase quiver such as adding the project color palette for tracks, and using the offset. I will check out your site. Great stuff!

    Good stuff! One big zoom feature you didn't mention is, putting your curser up into the cycle bar area at the top where the bar numbers are and where you can grab your cycle markers and set them, and once you get the "cross" icon from your mouse as opposed to the "hand" icon, left click and hold on your mouse and drag up or down. It zooms in or out exactly where the curser is set. Very handy to stop right at a spot you want to check, then just grab the top bar right where the curser is and drag down to zoom in. It will zoom to beyond infinity this way in a big hurry lol.
    I don't make videos, but you should do one on marker tracks too. I changed my keyboard shortcuts so that after I've made a marker track and set my markers, all I do is press the corresponding number on the right side number pad to jump to that spot. You have to hit ctrl+ the number from the factory. I changed it so that I just tap the number and it jumps to that marker. Very handy. Cheers

    honorable mention in the zoom chapter should be: that you can zoom using your mouse when you click on the ruler and zoom in with down motion with your mouse and zoom out with up motion. (down motion meaning pulling the mouse towards you)

    • @kennichdendenn
      @kennichdendenn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sablesasquatchproductions6395 its i.e. useful when working with sheet music - upbeats are not counted in the sheet music, but cubase counts them as a measure, so now your measures in cubase are off by one. Same if you want a measure of headroom before the music starts - i.e. for recording breathing in (primarily important in choral pieces) or to start a consonant slightly before the one of bar one without it getting brutally cut off.

    • @trioguitar
      @trioguitar ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sablesasquatchproductions6395 You can certainly get by without using them, like just select all and drag to the right a few bars for the exact same effect...but...depending on how you've set up your project, doing that might mean a bit of mucking around with some of the other special tracks you may have created...so...if you started around bar 3, but then ended up using the opening two bars for something, you might want your countdown starting before the first bar, it's possible. Quite often I end up using those early empty bars that I left there on purpose.

    Cubase looks like a child's toy to me. I mean look at the GUI. I get super mario feels... Ableton "old" style is better coz it's "classy". Studio One has the best modern sleak design of them all. Pro tools is just a dying DAW.
