That 05 figure looks so good. I really wish the Legacy figure had more of armored look. The arm guards and skirt look fantastic, I really hope DNA Design takes a crack at that for the new one.
Us G1'ers were adults when the unicron trilogy came out so the american version was just to over the top childish but the toys were awesome . Also now I realize again that I'm getting too old lol.
Something about the new version's proportions make it look younger somehow? My headcanon is that the new figure is a youthful less experienced Vector Prime.
I own both of those Vector Prime figures and the Cybertron version. That other one is the Galaxy Force version and it is much more show accurately painted where the western release was missing lots of paint applications. I wish that this new version had the same hinges on the wings were more like the original one and some more paint applications on some of those unpainted details. But nice review nonetheless. I think if I remember correctly that if you push the button to launch the missile (in vehicle mode) it would do a shooting sound.
I got the new VP yesterday. Sorry but the thing is a knunchuck. A lot of times if there's a new variant of a figure the origional goes on display & the new version is the action figure. In this case OG VP is staying active, the new one is right in the trade fodder bin. However, if you want a VP, it's not a bad option
I legit might be clouded by the fact that I have the OG (white and blue), but he feels so much more badass than the new one. And not just cause he's bigger.
Can get it without safeguard but complete for $15-30 if you look around. Or can do like i did n buy 2 missing pieces and make 1 complete. Getting safeguard is the wallet killer. Got lucky to get one for $25 but they can be found cheap but they go QUICKLY
Maybe it's my copy but the one I got was incredibly loose and floppy. As if someone had already played with it right out of the box. The torso was so loose and he could barely stand despite fiddling with it so much. Def returning this to the store.
I actually just recently bought an old vector prime Had to piece him together still waiting for him in the mail. I think I have the regular version but not 100% sure I just got the Cyber planet key. Wish I had that sweet takara key.
With Cybertron being your first and favorite it seems, I wonder what your stance is on other mecha series are. I’ve noticed that a lot of people who have cybertron as their first and/or favorite usually are the most willing to branch out and enjoy more giant robot franchises like Brave Series, Gundam, Getter Robo, Big O, Godannar, basically the roster of a Super Robot Wars game

I’m an Original G1 Fan but I love most of the Giant Robots from the 1950-1960-1970-1980-1990-2000-2010-2020-2024- and so on……. I also build and paint Gundam models and detail action figures. I even have models from other mecha series other than Gundam like Macross (Robo Tech), Tekkaman Blade (Technoman), King Of The Braves Gao Gai Gar, Transformers, and I’ve been wanting to get some other ones from other series like Getter Robo, Big O, Eureka 7, Code Geass, and many, many more…… Giant robots is my hobby.😊 I’ve even built my own custom Lego bust of Optimus Prime out of more than 7,000 pieces. It’s a great hobby!

DNA might save United version but I'm just more tempted to get old one.
The new one has a spot for the cyber planet key on top in vehicle mode. The tabs of the key go into slots on the top of the ship.

If you just let the key rest in the chest slot without pushing it all the way in, it doesn’t activate the sound or drain the batteries🥲
