I had to stop the video and laugh for a good 2 minutes.

Me: LOL!
Having spent a great many years with cats and as a veterinary technician who primarily works with cats, I have born witness to many feline truths. I have seen cats fall and land essentially face-first. I have seen cats "take a shower" in a sink and splash about in kiddie pools. I have seen cats lap up a tiny bit of milk and then proceed to vomit or be stricken with diarrhea. I have seen cats perform various tricks on command. I have heard sick, anxious, and angry cats purr very loudly. As a small child I came to understand cats quite well. That anyone still believes these ridiculous notions is a shock to me.
#1: Are fireproof. Yeah. Learned that the hard way.

Cats are just not as obedient-doesn’t mean their dumber ppl are just mad cause they can’t control a being that can hurt them
The myth that says cats can't be trained is truly 100% false. I taught my 3 year old cat to sit and to stand up in a span of a few days. It took lots of treats, but he knows how to do those things when I tell him to now. Next on the list is lie down.
My cats are trained to sit for their treats, soft cat food, catnip and human foods they're able to have. A bonus my black cat loves to play fetch. I have a face book page dedicated to show casing his encouraged talent. His page is called Black Mamba the fetching cat and Family. It's still work in progress >.
ManderzArl my cat Diego knows what is a no no place and respects the rules, he knows he is not allowed on the kitchen table and counters, he knows not to chew on Christmas lights and knows not to bat at the ornaments. He sits under the tree but he knows and obeys those rules
There's also a fun trick to make your cat sit. Take a treat and hold it up so that it's sligtly behind the cats head so that it has to sit down to see it. I used that and now I just need to hold the treat and say sit I'm also doing that with their normal food and now they always sit when I hold food lol. I would train those two more but I don't have the time since I have 4 rats, 4 gerbils, 2 guinea pigs and a dog to look after too haha
For my 4 only the 2 females sit and dont beg at all (I think it's because they didnt get many treat/catnip/soft cat food times I wasnt living with them for 4 of their years. And when I got my first male cat I gave and still give him all of that) The 2 boys are all like "what's that?" They sit when I show them I have something in my hand.

You do know that cats most always poop in the house right?
Marie Jane they usually poop in a litter tray, but you can train them to do their business outside.
Now that I think about it, it's kind of weird that people would rather maintain a stinky box of shit and sand in their home, than train the cat to poop outside like their dog already does.
Living Myth It's pretty easy to maintain now with the new litters. I would never let my cat go outside anywho. I like him safe and in love with me :)

Good list. None surprise me (I volunteer at a cat sanctuary) but you clarify well why the stereotypical adages are problematic in practice. I especially liked your nuance to issues like landing on their feet.

Yay! I love cats! I'm predicting it now, soon there will be a 5 myths about dogs list. They always do the cat video, then the dog video after.
i met the sweetest little kitty last week. it was like he/she knew exactly what i wanted or could speak human. i asked her/him to come see me and to pick it up and it let me. it like lifted it's stomach or something. idk. he was so sweet. i hadn't expected her/him to respond so well. i figured he/she was a sweetie since he/she came right over and was very nice but i had not expected to feel as though it could read my mind or understand speech. i know he/she didn't really but it was surprising nonetheless. it was a brilliant end to my week too. best day ever. i wish i had a cat. i've always wanted one but my family doesn't like them and we also had a dog. i just like things i can hold and pet and love. if i can hold it i'll be happy with it. unfortunately while i did love my dog, she was sweet and all, but she was too big to hold. medium sized. she was a Brittany Spaniel. I did have cats at my dad's house as a kid but i didn't get to see them much. they were more his than mine.

Thank God someone is finally spreading helpful information. Next you guys should do myths on rabbits. I see so many rabbit owners (not breeders who actually do the research) try and feed them carrots daily when they shouldn't.
My cats are SUPER trained. They can do amazing commands and they are very smart.
I have a cat and she sometimes eats milk products like skyr (Icelandic meal) or just regular milk from the fridge, but she often eats the milk warm.

While growing up my Dad's favorite cat was our Siamese, Memphis. He would chase my Dad around our pool and then jump in the water to swim across to catch him. When we moved, we had a pond across from our house with lots of cat tails and geese. One day my Dad called us to the porch and said, "whose crazy cat is that in the pond chasing those geese?!" It was Memphis. We've had many cats that didn't fit the stereotypes. Including playing fetch, rolling over and other tricks. Even had one adopt my daughters hamster when it escaped. We thought it would be her lunch but she ended up treating it like one of her kittens. I currently have a Devon Rex, also referred to as "the alien cat". He defies all cat stereotypes. He's just weird and very comical.

For the longest time, I believed the myth that whiskers were to keep a cat's balance, and that if a cat's whiskers were damaged, then they would be completely disoriented....I believed that myth for so long! Haha

about the milk point. They can have milk just not what we have, give them either cat milk, goats milk (used when hand feeding kittens) or lacto free milk :)

Milk is also known to give cats worms so just a bad idea all around. They do make special milk for cats without the lactose in it. It is sold in stores near the cat treats usually.

Well I say knock. More like a cat doorbell. Theirs a small hook on the door to latch it open. When he use to play with it I often came and opened the door to see what the noise is. In the end when ever he wanted to come in he would play with the latch. You could say he trained me

if you give your cat a little milk every day after it stopped from its mothers milk its ok because the affect of not drinking milk will make it so they do get stomach aches but after they are use to the milk and will be able to drink it. ( you can give a cat milk as long as they are use to it).
