I quietly enjoy the thought of distant future historians rediscovering the Black Pants Legion songs about war and the misunderstandings that will surely arise about our time period
Literally every time I'm feeling sick or Down, I turn to BPL Black Pants Legion, the cure for what ails ya *space station 13 screams in the background*
My first BTA career I got Grandpa Tex as one of my starting characters and found a medium rifle carrier for sale in the second system I went to. Grandpa Tex in a truck with 5 medium rifles duct taped to the roof? What could possibly go wrong? "OH GOD, WHADDAYA WANT?! I WAS SLEEPING!" .....You know what, 330's pilot overhaul mod for MW5 Mercs needs a Grandpa Tex voice set. They are looking for people to do voices for custom pilots.
I'm sitting here screaming at the screen cause I could TOTALLY get those units battle ready with what you have and oh my god now i understand my parents doing it during football games.
Binary laser: The initiator portion of two larger lasers shunting their output through a single focusing array. Great for burning holes in things, turning cockpits into saunas and frying up after battle egg sandwiches for the entire division on what is left of the blazer's casing.
Where do I send my five page story of Gunfoot? Edit: Thanks for the like, but honestly, Black Pants Legion - I did write Gunfoot Cannon Canon! Edit II: I have posted the short story "Here Comes the Hotstepper" on the previous stream where it was created.
1:08:00 "Two large lasers taped side-by-side" ... well ... I once had this idea for the SpaceMaster RPG - where they have really small personal lasers of about the size of a pack of cigarettes -, where you basically array a "briefcase sized array" of maybe 150 of these laser weapons to then get a really wide grid of them firing at a target. This is basically a "laser shotgun" made of separate lasers, which should reduce the need of making a "to hit" roll, because you have an area attack.
Wishful thinking is one day being able to take BTA or RT and set up our own scenarios like a GM mode to play our own stories in place of TT and minis. Less dice labor, more storytelling. Would stomp.
You basically can with Megamek, a BattleTech tabletop conversion program that does all the calculating for you. It's still top down 2d but once you build your lance, and opponents, you can play against a AI or the players can play against the DM.
Thanks for showing this off! and doing some audio for this amazing mod! :) Its now installed, and I plan on attempting to hire Tex and Grandpa when I come across them in out there in the black. I hope you enjoy working with the POOP PATROL! :)
The Binary PPC Manticore is one of the most abusively overpowered tanks in this mod. My designated Manticore pilot basically blares eurobeats as she drifts behind enemy mechs to blast their rear torsos with the super strong bolt.Usually one-shot.
Snowed in, making a fire about it, now kicking back, listening to some BPL while drinking some extra cowboy coffee and enjoying the blaze! Keep up the good work boys!
Sadly, the mod becomes nearly unplayable after a couple missions because of an unfixed memory leak in the core game that HBS is never going to patch. And the loading times are abysmal even on brand-new hardware because it's stock Unity 5 engine coding, and thus preloads all of its assets in just about the most direct and inefficient manner possible. It works fine for the vanilla game, but as you start adding stuff from mods (especially one that's as insanely content-packed as BTA) it brings everything to screeching halt.
@@atmosdwagon4656 The memory leak is a known issue, and as most 5-skull missions take about an hour anyway, I usually don't play more than a few before stopping anyway. So none of these things are a bother to me. And are well worth the pain given the incredible game (and RP) experience. And performance/load times are fine on my PC (assuming of course you do restart game every few hours).
Random fact - I got into BattleTech because I purchased the 1985 boxed set in the Hammersmith (London) GAMES WORKSHOP store - back when they actually carried (and licensed) games from other companies!!
Not gonna lie, the biggest draw I'm seeing is the lack of hardpoints. I hated how that was added in at some point. Give me a 8 medium laser commando any day.
This mod took some updates since last I played, looks like. The ui for units on map is a bit cleaner, dropping the evasion pips for just plain numerics and showing damage reduction upfront. Some nice changes, makes me want to start another game and see what else has changed.
Leg Shoot is very canon though. With multiple mechs sporting them. The funniest part about them is when you shoot SRMs from your leg, against an overhead ASF. Mental imagery always cracks me up.
In MW5 my friends and I did an evening of Urbie Derby in UM-60L'S where we kitted each one out either a Gauss rifle and just herpaderped around the inner sphere headshoting mechs 2x our tonnage or more! God damn that was fun! Except for the beachhead mission where we had to seek and destroy artillery... that was a close one...
Urbies are indeed the deadliest rocks in the Inner Sphere. As I've just started my BTA3062 journey myself, evasion doesn't reduce unless you use sensors, or use melee>kick (which removes all evasion if it hits). Welcome to ALL of the toys. 😂
Cool you're finally able to play the big mods on BT, though I would love to see you check out Extended as well. It doesn't have all the gameplay changes that Advanced has but with what it does lore-wise with the map changing day by day and having all the unique house and mercenary units moving around the Sphere according to the sourcebooks and all that with their own unique mech tables so they're using exactly what they'd be using that year (with the advanced stuff showing up at the right times and being as rare as you'd expect) among other things like having to hunt down Comstar being the only way to nab the really fancy mechs and having weather, time of day, even the planets gravity effect the battle slightly just tickles something deep. Flows into Advanced really well too because it "stops" right where Advanced starts.
So there isn't anymore planned DLC for Battletech 2018 last I had heard, but there is a new DLC for MW5 Mercenaries coming. We don't know anything past that, however I'd love to see a BattleTech 2 20xx edition made on a system that doesn't leak memory like a sieve, and Roguetech (one of the other main mods for Battletech 2018) ia a couple of days (Soon ish) from launching it's next season of play, which will be set in the Amaris Civil War timeframe (exact timing is not yet known).
We are the Black Pants Legion The finest in the region! We'll fight in any mess you make And always come back for more! Oh You can always find our number, We're out here seeking plunder! We'll hot-drop in in numbers When you start your goddamn war!
I think that Orion model has an XL engine. When I play urbies, i like ac2s and large lasers - turns it into a budget rifleman. Still garbage but at least it has range Personally, It’s a lot of making a light cav force - jenners, Osiris and a bunch of Pegasus/saracens. You have the movement to get rear armour shots on anything but if you get too cocky or caught flat-footed you will get wrecked.
I've just had a bit of an idea regarding a BPL-related mod for MW5 and/or HBS BattleTech that I thought maybe someone with the right modding experience & skill set might be able to run with, or at least give an idea as to whether it would be practical. Add Van Zandt to the map, complete with a store stocked only with weird franken-mech designs (how many distinct loadouts can you give an Urbie?). But randomize it's location somewhere in the periphery every time you start the game, so it's never in the same place twice.
First mission Orion would have been nuts... I fought Nova Cat and got really lucky on salvage with a headshot and had an pulse laser Ice Ferret in the start of the 2nd month of the game... That was broken but I suspect an Orion would be even crazier
Huh. Go figure. The day I uninstalled Battletech (and RogueTech) to make room on my SSD, this pops up to make me interested in playing game again. What this game is missing for vehicles that tabletop is motive damage. Nothing like clipping a hovercraft or WiGE going full throttle on the skirt or wing and watching them plow into the ground. Good times.
Hey Tex any plans to transfer over to Unity Station? I hear it's way more stable than classic SS13, and I don't think they have the streaming ban that classic SS13 has.
God I wish he had started with the COIL urbie, the -R29 variant. It's on the list, but I don't think it's a common one, probably one of the rarest variants.
I know this is a bit of a silly question, but I when I tried BTA the performance was really getting me down - long wait times for the AI to do it's thing, and even calculations for the effects of my own moves. I know the recommended specs for BTA include 32GB (which I do not have), but can someone point me to the specs of the rig they're playing this on? I want to see how much more I might need to upgrade before I can enjoy this mod.
Can anyone tell me the name of the intro song? I've searched for it using every title/combination of keywords I could think of, but I cannot find this song on Sound Cloud, TH-cam, or Google-at-large. Closest I could find is Goat's _Bones in Old Van Zandt,_ which is a different song. P.S. I did try searching "Van Zandt Free State Militia Campaign song," and Google insisted that I was looking for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Scrolling further down the search results got... weird....
Playing MW5 in missions that call for 275/300 tons... still running an Urbie-K9 with an UAC5, five small lasers and a 120 engine for 70 kph turbie speed. ANGRY TRASHCAN NOISES AND NO REGREEEEEEEEEEEEETS
Tex, you just dropped your urbies (video time reference) and I know why this video is over a hour long ( not complaining). Urbies. So fast that by the time they get to the fight, it's over. Hehe.
I quietly enjoy the thought of distant future historians rediscovering the Black Pants Legion songs about war and the misunderstandings that will surely arise about our time period
👏Make👏Goat👏canon
Ze vent to stars... And blew zem up!
I am sick as a dog and nothing will make me happier to sit back with some Black Pants Legion. Thank you
Literally every time I'm feeling sick or Down, I turn to BPL

Tex and his Van Zandt militia beating that Orion made my day.
An Orion does its impression of the HMS Hood

Watching that Orion light off like a firecracker because of an Urbie was the highlight of my night.
I bet like ten thousand people jumped up in their chair "WHAT THE FUCK"
Fighting in the periphery is the equivalent of two hobos knife-fighting over a single unopened cup ramen they found.
Where do I send my five page story of Gunfoot?

BTA3062 is the best mod around right now, not just for HBS BT but for nearly any game

That was the most exciting battle tech engagement i have ever seen. Gonna have to run me a lance of urbies. Losses are mandatory.
I'm sooo happy to have Tex playing BT again!!!
was a fun watch. Thanks.
Therapist: "The Gunfoot Cannon isn't real and your BekPha stocks are doing great. They can't hurt you."
*A wild Tex appears*
Random fact - I got into BattleTech because I purchased the 1985 boxed set in the Hammersmith (London) GAMES WORKSHOP store - back when they actually carried (and licensed) games from other companies!!
Old man harassed by hooligans in hovercraft
"I hate it and I hope they burn in hell"
Not gonna lie, the biggest draw I'm seeing is the lack of hardpoints. I hated how that was added in at some point. Give me a 8 medium laser commando any day.
Enjoyed this, good stream. Glad you folks were having fun with the urbies.
JJ Beeples dipped out on the Heidi Game of the battletech universe
I'm so happy to see another Battletech video!
This mod took some updates since last I played, looks like. The ui for units on map is a bit cleaner, dropping the evasion pips for just plain numerics and showing damage reduction upfront. Some nice changes, makes me want to start another game and see what else has changed.
Expand gunfoot. Put an LBX20 into a chargers leg. Shotgun dropkick things.
Leg Shoot is very canon though. With multiple mechs sporting them. The funniest part about them is when you shoot SRMs from your leg, against an overhead ASF. Mental imagery always cracks me up.

BTA is so freaking good. I honestly cannot imagine playing this game without BTA.
I'm so glad this is finally happening.
Morale effects... Another name for "Significant Emotional Events"
I just realized a battlemaster is basically a panther sitting on top of an hbs blackjack wearing a trenchcoat.
Annihilator is just four urbies in a trenchcoat
@@Bill_Falsename more like 4 Urbies combined into a Super Urbie!
Missed this live because I was watching old Hellburn on Goongineering.... XD
Tex from the BPL. The reason the internet exists.
I love this mod. I also love having Tex, Grandpa, and Duncan Fisher in my lance too
I didn't know BTA could be a comedy but now this is going to be something I look forward to on the occasion it comes back.
Urbies are indeed the deadliest rocks in the Inner Sphere. As I've just started my BTA3062 journey myself, evasion doesn't reduce unless you use sensors, or use melee>kick (which removes all evasion if it hits). Welcome to ALL of the toys. 😂
That poor poor Orion. Urbie squad best squad. He learned the hard way.
Ever since Mechwarrior 2: Mercs, the Pegasus has been my personal favorite tank.
This one and ten out of ten bonga. Grug approve.
New Merc company, bakphar asset reclamation unit

Love the Norman tapestry of the BPL
Goat man that intro is a bop!
I can't hear Tex in 3062 but I hear grandpa clear as day. Every playthru I do a get grandpa because I love the guy. He needs more lines.
First mission Orion would have been nuts... I fought Nova Cat and got really lucky on salvage with a headshot and had an pulse laser Ice Ferret in the start of the 2nd month of the game... That was broken but I suspect an Orion would be even crazier
Shooting doesn't remove evasion anymore in bta.
funny how you started playing this again.. as so did I.. after 20 months. The Discord is good.

Silly bandits trying to spring a trap on a lance of Urbies who are too slow to walk into it.
Hey Tex any plans to transfer over to Unity Station? I hear it's way more stable than classic SS13, and I don't think they have the streaming ban that classic SS13 has.
We used to put MG's in feet... Infantry killin time!

22:25 classic Tex misinformation 😅
I missed the stream do to work, but will Scrambles make an appearance?
Nothing like tex to calm down the nerves
Hail Cargonia! This has made my Friday!
Hey guys, I got Goat to make a BPL playlist so go check out Goat's channel dude needs some love for all of the epic music the he makes for the BPL
Upvoted for urby squad goodness.
tex and dep, i know your pain with giant meaty oven mitts for hands:(
...the Orion... got taken down by a fucking urbanmech.
In like 1 random hit.
If you're not fielding an entire back line of Schiltrons, you're doing BTA3062 wrong.
And that's why the griffon is the best mech
Do not taunt the happy fun can...🤣
I volunteer for B company, you don't even have to pay me.
I'm actually surprised Tex didn't get the BEX mod actually
Anyone have the link to Mr. Goat's song? I can't find it on TH-cam or Soundcloud

What are the chances of running a stream for the new MW5 Ralalhague DLC?
Loving to fight in an urbi is like loving to get divorced.
Bro if you got MekTek. Would love to see a Tex take on it :)
Hey Tex are you gonna play the new update for MechWarrior 5?
love the emblem.

YES! YES! YES!
gun foot is better than trench foot
2:28 Enter Tex
Are you broadcasting from the Perifery Pizza on Van Zant again?
shooting at someone does not lower their evasion

Shooty booty
In BTA 3062, your cannon weapons (the blue ones) have recoil that you gotta account for.
lol "how"
what's better rougetech or BattleTech advanced?
Tex, you just dropped your urbies (video time reference) and I know why this video is over a hour long ( not complaining). Urbies. So fast that by the time they get to the fight, it's over. Hehe.
how to get the mod?
Stream Start 2:27
Gameplay Start 9:10
the cover for the stream when it begins.... I LOVE IT!
*Honk Honk*
Dang it. I just realized BTA doesn't have a stonk market to invest in. Just think of how many C-bills could have been made...
>sigh
Nice, if only my BTA would run...forever loading sucks./
