This is only the 2nd video from you I've watched and from what I hear and see , if you did nothing but walk n talk and share the scenery its Worth my time Girl any day of the week! So I'll be looking. Stay safe and Hello from Central Alabama 👍👍👍
Marlo… I respect your decision very much. I can imagine that it can get really out of hand with products and I understand their side of it as well. It depends on the author of the channel. What a beautiful hike. Black Rock, with the snow, looks magical to me. I’ve always loved winter hiking, especially when snow is falling or has blanketed your hike and the sun will warm your soul despite the chill in the air. It always seemed cleansing to me. Being out there.. anywhere and anytime is always healing. Thank you MyFriend, for all that you do to bring us such great content! Be safe out there!! ✌️🙂❤️
TH-cam has become an infomercial. Even the stacking videos I watch, not all of them but most are either selling something themselves or for someone else. That might be why the crime videos are so popular, they aren't selling " murder kits", yet. There's very few Camping/Hiking videos that don't centre around "Gear", it's not even hidden, "Gear" is often in the title. No one should be heading out without the proper gear and un/fortunately so many people do watch reviews, I do it too lol of course. People are going to cater for the masses and if gear videos are popular then that's probably what we will get. Makes a nice change to watch a video without someone selling something. Good job 👍
@@user-yx2ff3mv2q I guess it’s unavoidable to not talk about gear but for me I’m just done making dedicated gear videos for companies. I enjoy watching some gear reviews to stay on top of what’s out there. I watch the outdoor gear review channel and a few others from channels I watch but for me It’s just something I want to get away from. I’ll review what I have or use that has been helpful and has lasted but i’ll do it briefly in a camping or hiking adventure. You’re right though, TH-cam has become a place to sell or sellout. I appreciate your time in checking this out.
You also have the thing about "monetization" which I once considered doing but will never do all because I don't want my small TH-cam or even my newer RUMBLE channel become flooded with ads about things I couldn't care less about or, maybe other people. I feel if you want ads, try cable / Satellite TV for those. I can understand someone maybe wanting a few bucks for their "content", but after awhile I feel there's a fine line between that & just being a Schill who only does whatever for the bucks & not about really enjoying your own content anymore. Me? As dumb or silly as some of my stuff could be, I still rewatch certain things I've put out just for the memories involved.
Hey Marlo! That is such a beautiful place! It was very relaxing just watching! Even though this place is undoubtedly beautiful year round, I'm glad you went while the snow was still on the ground. The ice formations were beautiful! Before you gave the history of the dam, I was going to ask if there had been a mill there. I would like to have seen it. I looked for a photo of it, but couldn't find anything. There have been times that I didn't feel like getting out, but as you said once you get there it becomes well worth it. There is nothing like being in nature to recharge oneself and refresh the soul. It would be nice to find a truly quiet place free from the sounds of mechanization, but at least we can still find places where it can be pushed into the background. Speaking of sounds, the sound of the river is so soothing and relaxing. I have stayed by a creek or a river for hours just listening and enjoying. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous location! I appreciate the product reviews you did as they helped in catching me up on what equipment is out there along with your honest opinion rather than a sales pitch, but I do look forward to you getting back to what you love and sharing in your future adventures in that beautiful countryside up there! 🥾🌳❄☕👊👍👍

Hello there 👋 its good your going in the direction that you are, I think this will be encouraging to many who are on a low to moderate budget. Also you had me a bit worried when you lit the spirit burner and picked it up, I had to close an eye 👁 Maybe this idea would work better for you, just dip a twig in the fuel then light the twig and place it in the stove to light the fuel, much safer. I really enjoy seeing your neck of the woods & being female I love seeing gear already in use for its dependability, quality, etc 👍🏼I am curious about what type of safety items you bring along? 😉☺️Thanx for the vids!

know what you mean by The infomercials I find myself hitting the fast forward button too often. Walmart stuff isn't bad if you're not going out in the bush for 10 days😅
I would keep doing the reviews. They dont have to be the whole of your videos, use Luke's format type let us know what's quality or possibly dangerous. You can donate or sale the items afterwards. OGR I believe used his gear to help the storm victims.
I don't blame you at all. I don't mind gear videos, and I don't mind making a few when I find something that works for me. When I find something that works, I don't mind sharing that and why it works for me. That being said, I don't want to become a salesman and become indebted to some company that sent me something. My advice for any hiker/backpacker will always be to find what works for you, and for the new hiker/backpackers, gear videos can be invaluable in helping them to research what is available, and why "X" might be better than "Y". Once established though, I think gear chasing is a waste of time and money... especially money. Get comfortable with, and learn how to best use the equipment you have unless you find something that makes a compelling argument as to why you may want to upgrade. Because a person (like me) can't afford a $700 UL tent doesn't mean you can't stay dry and have fun in the rain in a < $200 tent. Get out and have fun, that's the name of the game!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I agree that gear chasing can be a slippery slope. Getting outdoors and enjoying the experience is what it's all about.
Excellent Video really enjoyed it, and I like them because you are "Doing the Thing", Talk-the-Talk and Walk-the-Walk. The scenery on this video is just absolutely amazing, filled with "Freedom". I agree with you, Gear Reviews are okay, but only for a certain amount of time. You end up with a massive amount of gear, but once you find your favorite gear, the other gear doesn't get used as much. I've never done a Product Review for the reasons you mentioned; all of my gear is because I like it and wanted to purchase it myself. By the Way, what camera gear are you using in the cold. I've had some serious issues with my camera gear and learned it is ore mostly due to the cold. Do you have any suggestions or advice? Thanks
What I do to keep the camera or drone from glitching in cold weather is in between filming shots i put my camera in my jacket close to my body. When i want to film a clip i’ll take it out. In freezing weather I get about 20 min before it starts acting up or shutting down then back inside my jacket it goes. Your body heat will keep it stable. I definitely appreciate your time and I hope that helps. Have a great week and stay safe out there in these frigid temperatures.
You talked about your depression are you okay every so often I get de depressed like to night sorry to bother you with my problem god bless you I will pray for you.

Camping videos are now 15 min ad for some gear 😂
If we arent careful these small companies will take over our channels . We end up not being ourselves any more

It's all "too" commercial to me. Sorry I hate to be the grammar police, but it's literally splashed across the screen. Thought you might want to know.
An oversight I realized after, oh well. Thanks for pointing that out.
You must be a real hoot at parties.
