Thanks Layla! I'm starting a business building marketing systems for local businesses. This will help me systematize my processes from getting leads all the way through onboarding and quarterly follow-ups. That way systems run my business and I can hire people to run the systems.
I have a question... Why does step 5 not come before step 4. This also helps the person assigned as he/she gets trained on the methods from the get go, or am i missing something
I'm assuming that all activities made to build systems will end up on documents? Any recommendations to store this information for sharing / version control?
Key Activities of any business should be identified within a Business Model Canvas. Professionally, a BMC shouldn't be treated as "one and done" but rather continue to drive business decisions. I've used it to score and prioritize development projects based on how much business value they'll deliver, for example. So, I disagree with you on their utility. Now, once you've created a system with SOPs the real question becomes how do you build them into technology systems so that they're formulaic and generate consistent quality? Effectively, how do you TEMPLATE them throughout all of your business operations' practices? To do this, you need a technology-based solution to implement your systems, right? So what software does this with the greatest efficiency and effectiveness for small businesses? I feel like this area needs further exploration.
....But what about the 64 step process that has 10 steps each? I was promised bureaucracy and I am not seeing any. I'll wait on hold for your manager, thank you. 🤣 It is strange to see it all work out in such a common sense method, yet everyone seems to really struggle with it. People outthink themselves WAY too much.
Sorry for trolling. You’re simply building the process from the ground up, and changing the same MBA jargon to cutesy talk. Hilarious. Literally laughing out loud. Consultant would do exactly the same
I love the lady's energy (I'm from England), however, I couldn't agree more with your observation that she is changing the "terminology" and is going bottoms up. I couldn't agree couldn't agree more. The snarky remark on the business model canvas (BMC) is uncalled for. In fact the BMC is a neat "cheat", it is like having the "photo of the business jigsaw" Infront of you, as a reference point and reminder. Therefore the BMC should make business processes (BPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) mapping that much easier; -as long as they are validated with the value proposition design. The BMC literally maps out the inward facing and outward facing business "elements" or "components" that a business needs to systematically address.
@melusine826 Having dealt with this at a bunch of places, my advice would be to run, if / when you can. There's no negotiating with a sinking ship - but with any luck, you can save yourself from their disaster.

My take away from your video is that you believe if you take the time to look at the big picture, you will never make any improvements. So instead start "fixing something" even if later you find out that thing you fixed wasn't even required once you considered your business as a whole.

Hi Layla,
I’m new to your channel, and I just have to say-this video was brilliantly executed and so thoughtfully laid out. Amazing work!

The only problem is,no one has any money therefore it is not good
What if the process is completely broken and the company wont let you fix it 😅
Okay, I gotta ask: What do you mean they won’t LET you fix it!? 😂
@@LaylaPomper I mean, each story is its own, but I guarantee there are employers who refuse to let people improve things
