- Once again we're back shooting with Doug from Superformance, Hilbank & Shelby Legendary Cars and this one is now our favorite Cobra yet. This is to spec the identical car Bob Bondurant raced to multiple victories in 1965 and it is a beast. It fights you the entire time and makes you earn every turn, every shift and every mile. What an incredible driving experience.

So nice to see a small block. A friend has a 1966 small block Cobra he bought back in 1970. It's so well balanced, it pulls well and it's totally in control. And the sound IS worth the price of admission.
I’ve always loved the 289 FIA competition cars. To me they are the perfect intersection between the neck snapping brutishness of the side oilers, the front heaviness of the 428 gentlemen’s cars, and the plain spoken, but supple slab side.
Makes me smile to see people who thoroughly enjoy their jobs. Makes me just a whole lot jealous too! Twisty mountain roads and an incredible car! Yep really jealous!

I'm sure that 363 cu in strokeed 302 with 500 horsepower, you wouldn't notice much difference between that and the 427.

The very first thing I noticed when the camera showed the dashboard was that gauge at the far right end. When I noticed it was a speedometer I thought what the hell is a speedometer doing way over there but then I realized from when I drive my 370Z who really looks at the speedometer any way, except when there's a cop behind you.

I totally missed the differing wheels & seats, too. Maybe it's because the added curves to hide the tires are so dang sexy, or that the uninitiated can wear shorts in this machine with no worries, but either way it's easy to justify owning a Cobra spec'd out just like this!

Man, that crackle in that exhaust 😮 I thought a Mark III-R was incredible, but this one offers a totally different experience and I’m totally torn between the two! I thought about even a Mark III-R with this drivetrain and exhaust, but at the end of the day each chassis and build offers a different, incredible experience. Such a tough choice!

Cant help thinking that the different color rims are to prevent a front tire from being installed accidentally on the rear in a pit stop. When I hit the mega-million my first trip is to Superformance to get one of every Cobra thru GT40. Really love your channel. BTW waiting for you to put the camera on the passenger side of the roll bar about eye level to get us into the drivers seat. Big thumbs up!

I would guess that maybe they painted the front wheel centers white as a way to monitor brake temps. White tends to change color as it gets hot.

I live in Milano Italy, a few years ago a guy drives around the block outside my house in a 427 looking for a parking space. On his third drive around he finds a space RIGHT OUTSIDE my apartment!!!!! And I'm like. NO MAN YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO ME!!!! I grabbed my cell. phone and took a couple photo's, and they are kept with the utmost jealousy in my PC hard drive...... I LOVE SHELBY and I love the Cobra.If I ever get rich the first thing I'm gonna do is call SUPERFORMANCE

I drove the super performance with a 427 in a Tremec 5-speed.
The car you just drove was that a 4-speed?
This is the same trans. But very different car as I’ve driven a few of their Cobras including the 427 car
still wondering if the chassis is different between the SPF Fia car and the CSX FIA car? great video.
