  • GForce Software has published the Oberheim OB-X plugin, here is a sound demo. The Oberheim OB-X is an emulation of the iconic analog polysynth from 1977, approved by Tom Oberheim himself.
    GForce takes the Oberheim OB-X in its official emulation several steps further by adding creative features such as X-Modifiers giving you endless modulations, multi-effects, full aftertouch support, and more.

    Just played it for a couple of hours. Sounds pretty darn good, presets are very nice, stable, and... it's an Oberheim!

    GForce are truly in one league with U-He when it comes to VA. Nobody needs to clutter their studio space with Behringer clones nowadays.

    Most Studios these days have the hardware for the Instagram
    Pics - but when you get there they aren’t plugged in and they are using plugins for the actual recordings. These days the difference isn’t in the sound but perception.

      Plus, so much of the sound evolves after the fact in the mix. Applying EQ, exciter, compression, clipping, limiting, reverb, delay. saturation. If you are trying to compose FAST, then nothing beats the advantage at instant recall of soft synths. I own both, and love my analog synths, but sometimes it's too cumbersome dealing with librarians, patching in etc. We get lazy...

    I recently was gifted a license to impOSCar2, but the user interface is ridiculously small at typical display resolutions, making the plugin unusable. Also, the installer didn't handle folder permissions correctly, which is stupidly annoying.

    • @synthanatomy
      @synthanatomy  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      well you are taking about a plugin from 2012, so 11 years old. The guys have changed their programming environment and are currently shifting to a new generation of plugins. Minimosta got a version 2, Oddity v3 and I'm pretty sure they will publish next year impOSCar 3 with a new UI, new features etc.

    • @straighttalk2069
      @straighttalk2069 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And that's the thing with VST's and software, they keep changing which means in no time at all your beloved VST becomes obsolete, unusable and pretty useless.

      Almost all of GForce's plugins have recently been updated with their new GUI designs, which include fully rescaleable GUIs and a user friendly accessible preset menu system. It's unfortunate for you that your first experience was with one of their only plugins remaining that has yet to be updated to their user interface system. Most of us who own impOSCar 2 were expecting that to be their next plugin to update. To be honest, I thought that was going to be what they released this time, but then they launched this OB-X out of the blue instead (no complaints, since it's great!). However, I doubt it will be much longer before impOSCar gets the similar UI overhaul (albeit that will likely be in the form of an upgrade to v3).

      @@Tyrell_Corp2019 You're mixing things up now. Tyrell is made by U-he and not GForce. Two different companies: one from Germany, another from UK. Yes Tyrell was made in collaboration with a German magazine. Since it is freeware and development and maintenance costs money, they didn't publish of updates for it. The magazine would have to pay for it. Cheers

      Yeah there is something unsatisfying about it. Get a Polybrute and play some notes in the really high registers and it becomes sort of obvious that hardware has the edge. I do like digital hardware though. It has a sound. But hey, so do plugins. This sounds nice for example. Not enough to make me give up the hardware workflow and sound but you know, it is awesome how far it's all come. Good times we live in.

    • @helisoma
      @helisoma ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it really depends on your workflow...i have both (even of the same synths) and the hardware encourages improvisation and jamming while the VSTs help with structuring the sound design...plus there's a lot more you can do with these patches with effects and mixing, just as with the hardware

      @@helisoma Yeah software is good. We still use it here but less and less and it's been mostly for educational purposes. With proper a routing setup hardware is kind at parity level with software. Especially if you use something like Bitwig which is designed from the ground up for hardware integration. Still, software will continue to have value and to be honest I am kind of excited at just how far software has come. I still use my Diva copy like I said. It's a great piece of software. I'd have no problem using this if i didn't have hardware.
