Nice collection and cool display. I've got a closet that is not being used very well; just full of clutter. I want to clean it out and repurpose it as either a gun display/workbench. Maybe a reloading area. I'm looking for inspiration.
You can store them vertically and it only covers about 3 inches of distance between each weapon doing that generally will give you 5 to 6 times more storage. What’s a good idea is the wall that you walk in and look at first that can be your flat display where you show off your best stuff everything else on the side walls like walking into a gun shop just rows and rows of vertical.
looks amazing great job I never really thought about displaying my weapons in the man cave but now you gave me a great ideas thanks for the inspiration
Converted His'n'Her walk-in closets in second master bedroom into gun storage. ....locking long gun racks ala gun stores; locking 42" wide 4-drawer side pull file cabinet for handguns, binos, spotters, rangefinders, goodies. Fabricated DVD shelving to conceal closet doors. Hung DVD racks on new gate hinges concealing the new solid metal closet doors with 3 deadbolt locks. Not apparent DVD racks swing open to reveal the hidden doors. Built new clothes closets on opposite end of room taking room from little used over-sized adjacent bedroom. Old Harley buddy, a professional locksmith, always said locks only keep kids and the terminally stupid out. A good strong safe/storage is great, but even better is the good strong safe/storage that no one finds to attempt breaching....hide and use a decoy. Cheap metal SnapOn gun cabinet is "hidden" for easy finding with junk guns....leaded barrels....for easy find/breach by intruders. Grab 'n' go never finding the good stuff. Similar approach saved relatives', friends' guns several times.
This is simply awesome! I've been looking at Gallow-Tech, but this gives it a run for the money! Love the three concrete walls; the door lock to discourage the kiddos; your laminate flooring looks really nice; the baseboard trim is perfectly installed; the wall boards are perfectly aligned; and the lighting really bounces around the room. Quick question; how much square footage did you cover; and how much total cost would you guess are in the wall boards and inserts you used? Again, I'm jealous, and you have inspired me to build one this weekend!
Now you just need a separate room for bunch of toilet paper and med kits, and you're all set for the end of the world, LOL. Epic cool closet and firearms, BTW. Thanks for vid.
QUESTION!!!!! I hung the same slat wall and track and also ordered the same hooks. When you first hung your hooks on the wall were they kinda gapped at the bottom ?
Great look. I’m limited in space myself, but this looks good. Question: do the guns get dusty or accumulate dust? If shooting a gun you don’t often shoot, do you need to clean first to ensure no misfires? I was more of a keep it in its case kinda thought process?
Sure! Here are the pistol hangers: www.kc-store-fixtures.com/slatwall-adjustable-pistol-holder and here are the ones I use for long guns: www.kc-store-fixtures.com/slatwall-firearm-holder-for-slatwall Also, the metal slats are not necessary but they do allow the slatwall to hold a LOT more weight, afterall, the slatwall is usually just particle board.
Do you think the slat inserts are necessary? My local gun store isn't using them. Im doing a much bigger room in wallslat board and the inserts are so expensive! Wondering about skipping out on them but want it to last long term. Room looks awesome btw 😁
I'm not sure to be honest. I guess it depends on how heavy the guns are. You are right though, they are pricey! If you go without them and it works for you, please let me know! Thanks for watching!
I think that's a Ruger revolver to the left of the S&W Model 19? What model is it (guessing GP100) and has it been reliable for you? How is the trigger out of the box compared to a Smith? Thank you for any and all input.
I just went downstairs to measure. The Ruger GP100 has a 4lb pull out of single action and the S&W has a 3.25lb pull out of single action. Both triggers are nice.
@@GunsNReloads Roger that, I've looked at them, but never pulled the trigger (pun intended). They are well built and then some, the customer service is second to none from those I have spoken to that needed service/warranty work. Thank you for your insight!
@@johnd.613 I've had great experience with Ruger support as well. I had an old P95 from the 1990's (obviously way out of warranty) that I lost the retaining washer for the recoil spring a few years back. Ruger sent one at no charge. I also had an issue with an LCP380 where the take-down pin would start walking out. They also took care of that no charge.
Hey man, You did a great job on this wall project. I am very curious about the Athalon scope and its repeatability, trackability (Tall Target)/ (Box Test), zero retention, and overall durability of the optic. This would be my heaven if I was taken to see this room as a kid. congrats on an amazing collections

which hooks did you use for the pistols please? excellent job!!
All kinds of History in that room!
The older I get the more I am collecting the "older" guns instead of the newer ones. I love learning the history behind them all. Thanks for watching!

Do you have to use the metal inserts? Are the panels not structurally strong enough without them?

I haven't noticed dust being an issue but this room isn't opened often and I try to keep my furnace filter as new as possible.
