    Thanks for the video. I am expecting to have a port installed very soon. My Mother was on PD for a few years, but I never drilled down into the processes. This video was one of the best I have seen regarding everything that has to be done to successfully exist on PD.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to demonstrate this and explain the various nuances that you deal with/prepare for. I'm going to show my 85 year old mom. She's struggling with in-person dialysis, so maybe this is an opportunity for us.

    I have basically the same pd machine however i find the patient line very short . Does anyone have a remedy for this orher than dragging the cart around ??

    I just got my pd access placed last week. I now must go for training. I like to be prepared, so I'm looking for any additional help. Your video has been a great help to me. I learned a lot. My problem is that I don't produce any urine and I therefore must stay on the machine for 14 hours. But since I can walk around, maybe it'll work out. Fingers crossed.
    I'd like to see how it works using an IV poll instead of the machine.
    Thank you for your help.

    Could you give me information where i can buy the machine? And how much it cost?

    • @Lorihartwell
      @Lorihartwell  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, so sorry for the delayed response. You would need to be prescribed peritoneal dialysis by your nephrologist and your dialysis clinic would provide the machine and supplies after training.

    I like to drink occasionally! Is 6 beers too much to have every once in a while? While on dialysis if so any suggestions on other alcoholic beverages

      You should always check with your doctor and renal dietitian about anything you eat or drink.

    So are you loading the bags and tubes on the machine earlier in the day and leaving it all to sit a few hours until bedtime? Is that allowed? Or are all these steps performed each night at bedtime?

      Also, is the catheter a nuisance? I’m trending toward all of this and I am really anxious. Where does the loose end go when not hooked up? Tuck into your pants? Tape to your side? How do you keep from snagging and pulling it out?

    • @pim5490
      @pim5490 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You prepare everything right before bed. You may get your wrapped supplies ready maybe but everything must be sterile while hooking up.
      There are a few options to what to do with your catheter site. Some use tape to hold in place with high waisted pants like leggings or yoga/exercise pants. Also there is a belt and a catheter lanyard type thing. Actually let me try and find the video I watched and add it to the comment.

    Does the drain pain ever wake you up?

    • @Lorihartwell
      @Lorihartwell  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never had it but maybe once. I suppose if you were still asleep in the machine it could be bad enough to wake you up. It wouldn’t happen with manuals because, it happens when you’re draining the fluid out.

      Hi Steven, You might try to trouble shoot with your wife's nurse and maybe ask for additional training. If she chooses to change to hemo, maybe consider doing it at home.
