    "Oi u stupid bitch" is no way to talk to a horse if it refuses the jump at 5.00

    Impressive how the hounds, impatient to get going, will remain in the trailer until they hear the whistle.

    You all have to understand thats soms aren't whipping there horses when they through their arm back this is only to keep their wait back NOT to hit the horse. The whip is something that most riders cant do without as it is dangerous to be stuck on a horse in the middle of now where without a means of communication and with something that won't move.It as well as the leg are used to reassure the horse as it is a horse and doesn't understand human language. Therefore they are used to show the horse that its good to keep going thats why they say good boy or give them a tap when they do jump.Is called horsemanship:-)

      TC Equestrian yes but letting go of the reins to hit a horse even thou he/she hasn’t done anything wrong is absolutely appalling to me eg 5:16 6:08

      If they need to use their whip it is evident that they haven't trained their horses correctly, nor do they know how to communicate with their horses using body language. They are using the whip as a pain method, which is terrible horsemanship. Was this 'horsemanship' at 8:18 ?

    • @veronicamarchese5389
      @veronicamarchese5389 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      To generalise that 'every horse does it' would be ignorant as there are lots of riders in the horse world that are able to communicate with their horses simply using body language, i.e liberty horses and even Western riding, that don't use crops against the horse. Let's say that they are using the whip as a guide to ensure the safety of the rider and horses around them (for this video specifically), some of these riders are only ever seen whacking their horses before an obstacle. There has been research done (showing the difference between human skin and horse skin responding to the effects of the whip) that proves that horses actually have more pain-sensing fibres than humans (meaning they feel more), but because they have evolved as prey animals they are more likely to hide their pain. Also, not to say that I am an expert in the matter, but I wouldn't be claiming others as uneducated when there appears to be gaps in your own knowledge. :)

      I'm not to sure where your facts have come from, but there have been legitimate studies (for example, Dr Lydia Tong, a veterinary pathologist and forensics researcher) who have proved through actual science that horses skin is thinner than human skin. So I ask, out of curiosity and something solid to actually debate against, where are your facts from?
      Horses have a mind of their own, and they are a prey animals, for sure, but their natural fight or flight mode won't be activated unless they sense danger. In terms of the barrel jump... unless something happens that makes these horses play up in front of the jump, then they should jump on their own (if the rider drives them forward and there is an obstacle in the path, in most cases the horse will jump either by instinct or conditioning). If they are familiar with the obstacle and are well trained they'll be able to perform the task on their own with no worries.
      However, the people in this video are whipping their beautiful horses before they are even given the chance to voluntarily jump. The abuse factor of the whip, in the instance of this video, is that these riders use the whip against the horse before they are given the opportunity to participate on their own, instead they are forced to jump via pain and release methods.
      This disagreement has veered into the general vicinity of whip use (which has led to many laughs, so thanks), but in relation to this video, the way in which these "riders" are using their whip is terrible. If they don't take the horses through ridiculously dangerous obstacles and train them properly (and themselves), then their horses will most likely act up less.

      To be honest, I bypassed your supposed point about the muscle apparently being shock absorbing because I doubted the accuracy of it, therefore I didn't really acknowledge at all. The coffin bone assists in absorbing shock as well as other JOINTS in the horse...but muscle and fat? One benefit of fat is that it provides the horse with energy, but absorbs shock from the effects of a whip? I double checked with the dictionary and read that the definition of shock absorbing is 'a device for absorbing jolts and vibrations'. Perhaps the person who shared this with you was confused between humans and horses, because our muscles are shock absorbers, but we are DIFFERENT species to horses.
      Now, if you had cared to read my response properly you may have noticed a question I asked that I didn't see the answer to in your rebuttal, so I'll repeat in case you accidentally missed it; where have your facts come from?
      In relation to your example that horses wouldn't feel a pin being slipped into their skin, (which I would assume that action would create a pinching sensation at least) but are you suggesting they wouldn't feel anything, like their nerve system wouldn't even notice a sharp foreign object pierce their body at all? Oh, and your comment about the riders using the whip against the horses face was cute as judging from the imbalance of most (not all) of the riders they wouldn't be able to lean that far without tumbling off, but a couple managed to leave some nice whacks to their horses neck (so they must really love their horse), one of the most sensitive regions of a horse. (Also these examples, 4:27 5:03 5:15 5:23 6:09 6:24 6:36 7:06 7:55 and this terrible human 8:16 , all within the first half of the video, which has been cut and majority of the hunt has probably been left out, so god knows how these 'riders' used their whips when the camera wasn't on).
      The skin of a draft horse is the same, if not very similar, to that of a warmblood because at the end of the day they are both horses (they are the same species with typically the same functions). That would be like saying a Mauri person and a Chinese person has different skin...when in fact they are simply built differently to adapt to their environments. The draft horse is exceptionally stronger, no doubt, but that's not because a additional layers of skin somehow developed, it's because the horses bones and structure is sturdier than warmbloods, whom inhabit a more athletic build.
      P.s. I don't mind if you attempt to insult me, but if you do plan on continuing could you do so with more...intelligence. Please. You've used ignorant enough times to bore me and both misused and misspelled incompetence. xoxo

      I wouldn't say whips are completely unnecessary, or with the use of whips meaning you don't care about your horse. but I do agree that the majority of these riders are relying on their whips. Like I use to ride a horse and no matter the strength of leg or use of seat would get this horse active but simply waving the whip (not smacking them) by there side or by there head meant they went completely forwards

    At ANY competition in Denmark... you would have gotten a penalty or punishment for releasing the reins to whip the horse.....
    And at hunting in Denmark... At least half the company would have yeld at you for doing it.!!! If you are unsecure that your horse will jump... practise some more before going, or ride with someone you KNOW have a horse that jumps. Confidence is the way forward.. not beating.
