You see, this is why I enjoy this show. Lugh isn't running at people with a sword and using the power of friendship, he's using actual strategy. And by strategy, I mean killing them with a massive rod of tungsten dropped from orbit.

Can you call this being overpowered? he needed an specific setup taking a distraction of 5 against a literal Berseker that would have killed him in a minute. This was actually the only instance on the show in wich Lugh wasnt too strong for the situation
lugh is not overpowered at all. he was only given the choice to choose his specific set of skills and got the same number of skills as a regular person would. his intelligence and knowledge from previous allowed him to become so deadly.
Lugh is not overpowered in the slightest. Think about it. He only has 5 skills. Like every human. Sure, his skills are very good, but they aren't all even S class skills. The hero has like 30 skills. Many are S class. The hero is literally a god. With 30+ skills, the hero is literally a monster, powerful as a god, maybe even more powerful. You look at what Lugh did with only 5 skills. Now imagine what the hero could do with 30+ skills. The hero must be unfathomably powerful. The Hero is overpowered, Lugh is just highly optimized.

The spear was sent up at -2x gravity for three minutes, meaning it gets a total altitude of 1023.5km, from which it then falls and impacts the ground at 4480km/h(mach 14). The spear canonically weights 100kg, making the total force of impact 3.6*10^9 Joules. This is not the power of 111 tank shots, but rather 400 tank shots.

When he talked about the targeting issue, I thought he'd say that he used the coin as a homing beacon.
Same, or maybe some other beacon-like object buried in the ground where they stood, if he could've predicted that.

No, it means he actually studied Orbital Mechanics to hit the target from Earth's Orbit.
That would've been VERY clever.
Nah, the whole point was to delay the guy from moving, including the coin flip. He could have easily flip it less high, but he went for a dramatic height. The first adjustment was done when he launched it, second was during re-entry with wind spell to micro adjust the angle.
This is one of the skills of a master assassin - the ability to keep your target _exactly_ where you want them, with the target none the wiser until it's too late.
He never got to experience the "too late".

I honestly feel if the roles were reversed people would be complaining how that guy cheated to win, but since Lugh did it it's perfectly ok. He won but it was definitely a cheap move.
In a previous extract, I said : "Lugh, dude, if your deal is that you summon our technology into your new world through magic, and you need crazy power to fight what are basically DBZ characters, why don't you summon something fancier than old school artillery and muskets, like nuclear bombs or something?"
And now, well... they actually went there. Good job, writers. you're being coherent with the logic you set up before!
The hero is not even the level of saiyan saga, those dudes can annihilate planets at relativistic speeds with one finger. Something around King Piccolo's level, maybe higher up to Raditz. And at the end of DBZ they can destroy a significant part of the macrocosm.

I did the math and got some info from the Wiki, it takes about 3 minutes for the spear to reach the upper atmosphere at which point it's 1023.5km above the surface of the planet, when he releases the reverse gravity spell the spear falls at mach 14 or roughly 4480 m/s so it would take about 3.8 minutes to hit its target. So aiming that attack is VERY hard since he needs to basically keep someone as close to stationary as possible for almost 4 minutes to ensure the spear hits when it falls and that's provided he can adjust the fall trajectory after releasing the reverse gravity spell, if he needs to set the target zone before hand as he casts the reverse gravity spell it would be SO much harder to aim that

@@TheByQQ the 1023.5 km came from the wiki, my guess is its supposed to represent the point just before objects become orbital in Earth’s atmosphere. The spell is based off an idea for a space weapon where there’s basically a satellite crossbow that shoots giant metal rods from orbit at a target and due to the massive acceleration due to gravity plus air friction the rod becomes super heated and impacts with the explosive force of several nuclear bombs but without the radiation

You know, this reminds me of Thane Krios from Mass Effect 2, specifically his Shadow Broker assassination method preferences. When it comes to almost any race, he’ll default to snapping their necks. However, when it comes to krogans, it’s either a very complicated neck snap, or just straight-up subverting stealth altogether and blowing them up. For context, the krogan are a race with double organs, a redundant nervous system, and one of the most broken healing factors of the Mass Effect universe to the point that it’s a good idea to focus entire thermal clips on these guys FIRST if you’re fighting a krogan.
I’m just saying, if this dude was anything like a krogan, good call to use the space nuke.

When the Barbarian fails their Dex saving throw forgetting they have danger sense.
It won't work. In order to get the first strike in he, was focusing on the coin so he could move in as immediately as possible. The coin would likely draw more of his attention the closer it got to the ground. In addition, by the time the rod was reaching the ground it was traveling at a speed of over 3.43 kilometers per second. The the time the rod was even close enough for him to notice, it would already be too late to dodge.

Love this show, it really is different than the usual. Refreshing.
I know some of you think this is comparable to a nuclear blast, but it really isn't. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was 18 to 23 Kilotons of TNT. By comparison even with the magic applied, and wind resistance negated You still are looking at like 8 tons of TNT. Destructive? Yes of course But Nuclear Bomb level? Absolutely not. Modern thermonuclear bombs are around 1 million tons of TNT. If lugh managed to use his crazy spell mastery to replicate a Hydrogen bomb with 5 Megatons idfc what anybody says. The hero is not surviving that too the face.
Lugh wouldn't survive that to the face either, not even with magical shields. So that would kinda defeat the point.
@@Mirality well it's not like he needs to be close when firing it. Plus I don't understand why he didn't use a larger mass of tungsten for more Destructive energy. It seemed at least in the anime to be rather simple to put that rod into orbit. So why not make it twice or 3 times he'll even 100 times as massive? Then we would be dealing with Nuclear bomb level Destructive energy. He is shown to have magic recovery to an absurd level. So it wouldn't be too far fetched to say he could but a 5000 ton object into orbit.
He was standing close, though. And he did need to, in order to provide a sufficient distraction. Presumably without that the target might have sensed the attack and put up an effective defense.
The fact this is an actual weapon in real life makes it cooler.

This is one of my favorite depictions of magic being used by someone with a scientific mind. Blending the capabilities of magic, with the absolute nature and understanding of science is my favorite genre.

They basically set it up for the entire second season to be an introduction to the hero. It just needs the green-light from a publisher.

Story 7/10 I would say, at moments it felt too slow, but I enjoyed it a lot.

I got really confused when it killed him so easily, I almost thought the show ended right there. Though with an ending like that, I wouldn’t be all that disappointed.
He did make use of most of his resources he planned, at least somewhat, to perform this
So the real hero appearing later was pretty well pulled off, as we could believe the show ended right there.
But we have the promise of more content now! That's great

Hero is op. This weapon cant deal damage to hero. I think he will made anti-matter weapon or railgun of infinity eneregy (cycled in space whis no air or gravity, it will assimilate very big amount of eneregy over time to speed up bullet to speed of light, increasing mass and speed)

Of course dropping a nuke on the guy is an assassination technique. It's how Ghosts in Starcraft do it.
That said, Lugh using that kind of weapon in this series' setting, I was impressed and delighted by it.
